yes he shouldn't have gone back after monobrow alonso on the first lap but the second one was a gearbox problem. from what i can recall, gearbox problems aren't driver related at all.
Actualy Hamilton didn't pressed any button before the failure. If you see the onboard replay, the warning lights were on before he pressed anything. Most likely the N button, to somehow reset the gearbox and get it into gear again.
