Both pictures have to be fake. Everyone (Miyamoto included) knows Link is left-handed with a sword. The shield is in his left hand. Therefore, picture is fake.

Oh, and before anyone says Twilight Princess Wii Link was right-handed, that was only because Nintendo had a deadline to reach and didn't have enough time to get right-handed Wiimote slashes to match with a left-handed character. If they had more time they probably would have gotten it to work.

I think your right about the "Master Sword" Idea, but i think she won't serve as much of a mechanic, but more of a guide lik tatl, navi, tetra, midna...in fact i can't think of a 3d zelda game that didn't have one. i was dissapointed when you said that too because i had thought, when Iwata was talking, that no sword meant future-esque zelda, wich i support. not as a full change of franchise, just for 1 game

I think you'll find this interesting. an employee at G4 was ther and he described the picture as this "Miyamoto also premiered the first piece of artwork for the next Zelda. I wasn't allowed to snap a photo of the art, however, but it featured a tall, strident-looking Link in front of a blazing, fire-encrusted background. A mysterious, spirit-looking character was placed in front of Link and the logo was completely silver."

I think the second picture it's real and the first maybe is fake... but of something I'm sure about all this..

The reason of Nintendo to hide this pictures and news is because the game it's going to be a big one and Nintendo wants time to do the game slowly to be for all of us a big game... So the pistures can be real but maybe they are just ideas to complete the game..So don't get to hyped with the pictures because we are not sure about how real are the pictures.

All I can really say is that the second picture fits in much better with previous Zelda artwork in terms of style, and looks more like a promotional piece in general. To me the first piece just seems too mysterious to be the genuine article. Also it is entirely possible that the second picture was taken on a mobile (cell phone to all you Americans) while it would probably be impossible to get a picture as clear as the first one is without being noticed.

Either of those pictures could have been shot with a camera pen - that'd explain the poor quality. Someone could have even used their DSi to take a quick picture. Cameras may have been prohibited, but there's always a way.

I'm inclined to believe that the first picture may very well be real... as you said, how could someone get that news, make the picture and upload it to the net less than an hour after E3? That picture is too good to have been rushed, even by a very skilled artist. I'm willing to believe that one is real.

I can vouch that the second picture is absolutely real. It is exactly what the blogger from g4 described right down to the zilver logo. and perhaps the quality of it is due to a hidden camera. But none of the live bloggers i read mentioned 2 pictures and only g4's blogger went into enough detail to confirm the second picture.

i say, someone took a very quick shot with a camera on their phone. Phone camera pictures can be that small, and most phone cameras require a short time to focus after being moved around. so if a person took a quick shot, and I'm talknig very quick, then that would easily explain the quality. There is no chance of either picture being real.

If cameras weren't allowed at the conference, then why do both pictures suggest they were scanned or developed on a computer.

For example, if draw a painting, and then take a picture of that painting, one can tell that I took a picture of a physical object. These paintings do no suggest this in any way; they were scanned and directly imported from a computer. The real picture would have looked like it had been taken from an outside source.
