Nu Gundam (and Nu-DFF/Nu-HWS/Hi-Nu/etc) does NOT generate an I-Field with its funnels, it's a seperate technology called Fin Funnel Field, which is the prototype of beam shields used in UC0120s. SD Gundam G Generation series just classified it as I-Field to make things simple.

Also, Amuro's abiltiy to control funnels can make the task of shooting the fin unnels forming the field difficult.

since you can't hit the unit inside the I-Field Barrier, I've always wondered what would happen if you actually shoot the funnels instead of the MS. I mean, those things aren't even inside the barrier, have no defensive coating around them, don't generate I-Field barriers around them and don't have armored plating meant for shielding right? It shouldn't be that hard having 12+ funnels and with Char's skill shouldn't it?

Some common sense.

Nu Gundam's funnels can produce shields, as shown above.

Beam Sabers are basically Beam energy molded into form by an I-Field. All you'd need to do was pretty much just ignite the Beam Saber within the area of influence of the I-Field itself.

I-Fields are limited, and can be eventually worn out when the energy reserves of the suit run out. The Beam Rifle is definitely an upgraded version, but I doubt it takes an entire e-cap to fire a single shot. So nope.

Every beam saber uses I-field to form the blade, but it contins plasma, not Mega particle.

I-field can be penetrated by beam saber.

Fin-funnels do not generate I-fied barrier, like the Big Zam, but Beam Shield instead, which can resist any type of attacks.(It is the forerunner of late UC(F91,Crossbone, Victory) beam shields).

NTD is a system that designed to destroy newtypes, hence it turns Gundam mode when it founds newtype to kill. It's just a computer system.

Psycoframe are actual mechanical parts built into the mobile suit to help its newtype pilot. Psycoframes are inside the Unicorn, but they aren't the NTD themself.

According to what I've read of the novel... The glow that comes out of the Hi-Nu Gundam could either be the Aurora manifestation, as we see Amuro can do with the Psychoframe... OR, it can actually be Amuro's baby's soul, who actually protects him from certain beams at one point of the novel.

I think Seed and 00 were wiped out. There's a chart which shows that even the Cosmic Era takes place before the Correct Century. Since 00 is new, it's place in the timeline hasn't been established, but I think it's pretty much implied that Turn A takes place after all established Gundam timelines.
