What an artist Clint Eastwood is. Malpaso movie company. I like every movie Mr. Eastwoods been in or made. As a matter of fact, his movies are the only ones I really enjoy watching at all. May God bless you now and forever !
another dirty harry would be good, maybe if he was retired and was forced to come back and help with a case and brought the 44.magnum out of its case one last time, yeah, that sounds about good enough to make a screenplay outta,id better get to it!warner bros can give me a call if they want,im only 15 but can write
Eastwood is the man, but he really is too old to be reprising the Dirty Harry role. Even if they wrote in the movie that he's retired (which he damn well would be) I think he's just too old to be credible in an action role again. Some things are best left alone.
@Johnnyo1222 Oh sorry and he is only credited as joe in the credits and only referenced once in a fistfull of dollars by a tiny character, Manco is what he calls himself when he joins the bandits in a few dollars more but throughout the entire trilogy as they were shot so close together the character's name was always blondie.
@Johnnyo1222 Search for a documentary called Sergio's west on youtube.com where it interviews all of the main cast and writers and producers of the trilogy and there it is stated that the man with no name was simply for advertisements in america and in the italian version his characters name was always blondie :) have a nice day. Ps: Ive seen all of them several times.
A Dirty Harry as a retiree - that's not a bad idea at all, how about this - he has finally retired in retirement home as he is old and sick and can't really take care of himself. But soon he starts noticing things happening in the home including people passing away under strange circumstances that don't make sense from his point of view. Is that the reality and there is someone behind it and for what reason, or is his old mind playing tricks?
@lackofattack Actually the man with no name was a promotional tool that the American producers or advertisers (cant remember who) used as a selling point on their advertisements in english speaking countries. In the script and the Italian version he was always known as Blondie. Don't mean to correct you (I call him the man with no name) just thought this would be a fun and useless fact that fans would like to know if they didn't already.
Gran Torino was such a shitty movie. I don't understand why people love it so much. The plot was flat, the dialogue was flat, the whole thing was a sham.
@SabbraCadabra : well you can always go rent the latest Twilight movie. Maybe you'd enjoy a nice foreign film since you clearly need to have things fed to you with a spoon.
@MrSuperbombastik Don't try to presume you know me, because you don't.
I've seen all of the great Clint Eastwood movies, AKA the movies he's played a role in and NOT directed. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly is among my top 5 favorite movies of all time (and i do like the rest of the man with no name trilogy; Sergio Leone was a brilliant director).
I will give him Unforgiven, which was a beautiful movie, and Million Dollar baby (which was acceptable).
@SabbraCadabra : HAH HA HAH HA....."great movies"??? You put down what is probably the finest work this man has done (that he has won 5 oscars for directing/producing) yet you tout Sergio Leone. Hilarious. Leone's work was great, but dated and never evolved. Eastwood allows his actors to develop something we call "dialogue". I thought unforgiven was unforgivably slow. The "hero" is some sod that is too old to raise kids, on a failing farm, and a former murderer returning to his ways. UGH.
@MrSuperbombastik Wait. What are you trying to say? I said Unforgiven was a beautiful movie. I like it. But it isn't the only movie Eastwood has ever directed. It just happens to be one of many that i actually enjoy, and didn't fall flat on its face.
lol, and the way you described Unforgiven actually sounds like Gran Torino. The "hero" in that movie is some sod that is too old to raise kids, in a lame suburban neighborhood and a former murderer who returns to his old ways. UGH.
@SabbraCadabra : Not sure how you figure that? Walt Kawalski was no murderer. In Gran Torino he's a retired patriot and union auto worker; who is still lamenting the loss of his wife (and own impending death); who's family doesn't need or want him; watching his neighborhood (and world) turn to shit; and ends up getting dragged into a gang squabble. Very different. And saying Eastwood doesn't have chops is ridiculous when he has 5 oscars. GT should have been the movie of the year.
@SabbraCadabra : you really are an ignorant douchebag. you dont consider 5 top awards as proof of someone's ability and now you consider serving your country in a time of war as murder. I take that back. Your just a fucking idiot with no credibility or common sense. Go back to your television and stop wasting my time.
@MrSuperbombastik News flash, idiot. I served 4 honorable years in the United States Air Force. Don't believe me? Check my channel. There's a video of me goofing off in the hangar i worked in while i was stationed in Japan.
Killing someone, even during a time of war is still murder. No matter how you try and sugar coat it. Thankfully, i never had to kill anyone...
@SabbraCadabra : No, your a douchebag because you refuse to recognize that you are simply wrong when all evidence proves it. It's like saying, even though Phelps won more medals, he wasn't really the best swimmer at that time. Second, Air Force? Really? Now there's a really hardcore military man. "goofing off in a hangar", sounds vicious to me. I spent 4 years active duty infantry; so what? If you think war is murder, when your enemy is trying to kill you, your a shithead. As I said, step off.
@MrSuperbombastik No. You see, there's this thing called an opinion. Everyone has one, and not everyone's is the same. I choose to believe that Clint Eastwood's movies are boring. That's my opinion. I'm sorry It doesn't correlate with yours. I'm sure some day you'll get over it.
As for my service in the military, i served honorably. I did my job honorably. I respected my core values, and i always performed my job to the best of my abilities. I know I did, so what you think of me is irrelevant.
@SabbraCadabra :The original dispute is not so much whether or not you find his work boring, but your assertion that he doesnt have "the chops to be a great director" with 5 Oscars on his mantle. Second, having an "honorable discharge" doesnt necessarily amount to honorable service if you didnt believe in the mission. Killing WAS the intended result of your job so YOU are the one "sugar coating" it. Your "core value" was about YOU and getting tax payer subsidies for school, period.
@MrSuperbombastik What difference do my motivations for joining the military have? I still served honorably. I did every required task i was asked to, I showed up to work as required, and I performed my mission, which was to repair jets. That was the trade off. I gave 4 years of my life to my country's military, and exchange i am now able to benefit by going to school. I'm sorry i wasn't another gung ho, pistol waving 'patriot' like you'd want me to be. I still served. Did you?
@MrSuperbombastik And to make any assertions about my service record based on a 47 clip on my Youtube channel without actually knowing me is just as absurd as the argument you claim i'm making about Eastwood and his directing abilities. I hold several distinctions in my service record, including the Air Force achievement medal and good conduct medal. Not to mention various other awards and accolades for good standards and academic excellence during my tenure.
@SabbraCadabra : And if what I think of you is irrelevant than you need to stop seeking my approval by continuing to plead your case to me. You not going to change my opinion because I speak with facts. You are wrong, you know it, and hate having to admit it. You have been defined by your own actions and words. Save what little "face" you have left and just leave it alone.
@MrSuperbombastik And by the way, this isn't about me not being able to admit that i'm wrong. This is about you being unable to admit that not everyone share's your opinions. You can't handle that, so you've chosen to attack other people for sharing a different set of beliefs.
And please, come down from your high horse. I'm not really concerned with what you think of me. The thought of actually needing to save face in front of Joe Anonymous Youtuber is laughable at best.
@SabbraCadabra : I'm not asking everyone to share my opinion. I'm pointing out that you made the trollish, ridiculous and unfounded claim (without example) that he was not a good film maker when most people, including the Oscars, believe otherwise. YOU brought military service into the issue when you called service men fighting in a war murderers. Which tells me you know nothing about real life. I served because my family served and we owe it to our country. NOT just to get something back.
@MrSuperbombastik Not everyone shares your desire to serve just to serve. It doesn't work like that. In fact, i guarantee you a huge majority of people serving now aren't doing it because they bleed red white and blue.
And excuse me? My comment was trollish and uninformed? This whole debate started because I said I thought Gran Torino was a horrible movie. You're the idiot who decided to question my opinion because it didn't match yours.
@SabbraCadabra : I'm well aware of just how many miserable little "gimme gimme" people serve in the military for their own self serving reasons. Just one of the reasons I didn't stay in. People doing their time and being lousy soldiers. You don't have to "bleed" the colors to appreciate what you owe to those who came before you, and what it teaches you about life. Your attitude and comments show that you didn't get that, still don't. For that reason, I'm glad your out.
@MrSuperbombastik Not everyone who joins the military for financial reasons is a "gimme gimme" person, lol. Now who's making baseless claims? Pot calling the kettle black, much?
And how would you know that I don't and didn't appreciate my time in the service or the work I did? Because I believe killing another man is murder? Ah yes, more baseless assertions. Well done, hypocrite.
@SabbraCadabra : Actually it is not baseless. You, like many others site financial aid as the first reason for joining. The fact that you took part in supporting an "industry" that "murders" people according to your words proves that you were willing to whore yourself out for an end benefit; though your personal beliefs were in opposition. Jezus, grow up, be truthful about what you did, and move on.
@MrSuperbombastik I'm sorry i didn't jizz in my pants over every scene in the movie like you obviously did. I'm never going to change my stance on Clint or his movies because someone like you thinks i'm trolling. If I had said Clint's movies were god's gift to Cinema, you'd have thumbs upped me and lauded my statement. Instead, you label me a troll because I think Gran Torino, as well as the majority (not all) of the movies he directs are a pile of steaming dog poop.
@MrSuperbombastik I've seen Unforgiven, I've Seen Mystic River, I've seen Million Dollar Baby, I've Seen Letters to Iwo Jima, I've seen Gran Torino. I've seen my fair share of movies Eastwood has directed. Each of the above examples with the exception of Unforgiven suffered largely from poorly crafted dialogue, and flat performances from high caliber actors as a result of boring, plodding storylines.
Remember that scene in GT when Walt locks the kid in the house and he screams? Laughable.
@SabbraCadabra : None of those movies' scripts were actually written by Eastwood. I'd love to know what you consider as "great" dialogue, then again, not really. I venture to guess that you don't appreciate Hemingway either. I don't "jizz" over any of the movies he does, but I can still appreciate that given the time they had merit. Those "flat performances" earned those actors many Oscars as well. The more you comment, the more you prove everything I've said. Quit while you're ahead.
@MrSuperbombastik Hemingway is a great Author. The Old Man and the Sea and For Whom the Bell Tolls are two of my favorite pieces of work by the man. Nice try, though. Eastwood may not have written the scripts, but he sure as hell directed the films. And as you're probably very aware, much of what the final product looks and feels like is is very much influenced and determined by the work the director does. So there's really no use in blaming a screenwriter for the turd his director pops out.
@SabbraCadabra : Again, you argue that something is bad and give no actual example. While many others have lauded it. This is getting really old and your arguing something that is subjective; in which you are in the minority. Ugh.
@SabbraCadabra : "honorable" huh? Acting like a silly ass; on the taxpayer dime; dancing around a multi million dollar piece of equipment; and posting it on the internet; well done and EXACTLY what I expected. Another little American kid who likely joined for some benefit instead of really caring about his country, while making sure not take any direct physical threat. No wonder you don't understand the movies or war. I wonder if the people flying that plane knew you thought they were murderers?
@MrSuperbombastik Now, what was that you were saying about credibility? Oh, i have none and therefore i'm a douchebag because i happen to take a different stance, not only on Clint Eastwood's movies, but in how i view war? You're too funny. I'll have some of whatever you're smoking, please. :)
@MrSuperbombastik The problem with Clint is that as far as a director goes, he just doesn't have the kind of chops that makes a director great. I feel weird when i see his movies, because the dialogue is generally unbelievably bland and the plots tend to move around aimlessly. Letters from Iwo Jima is probably the biggest example of his typical plodding nature. 2 and a half boring hours of nothing.
It doesn't matter if you are a bit older now Sergeant Callhan. If you still have your Magnum, I quite sure of that they need you out there in the street. So you can cleen the streets from some stinky cockroaches.
Hey! I'd go see another Dirty Harry, as long as he says, "I know what you're thinking, 'Where's my oatmeal?' Well, in all this old age, I've kinda lost track myself! And bein' that I could take this spoon and gouge your eye out, you've gotta ask yourself one question, 'Did he take his pills yet?' Well, did I, punk?!"
The nurse at the nursing home then says, "That's a nice story Mr. Callahan, but it's time for Arts & Crafts."
@StativStakitKasket chuck norris and clint are in 2 WAYYYY different categories Chuck Norris is a World Champion Martial Arts fighter while Clint Eastwood is a actor that plays a tuff guy roll in real life chuck norris would realistically beat the shit out of most people including Clint Eastwood but in the movies Clint would blow his head off
@StativStakitKasket I know what your thinking Chuck, did I fire six shots or only five. Before he said his next line, Chuck Norris will kick his Smith and Western from his hands and with a flying back kick, poor old client will bit the dust. But lucky for Client, he carries more than one Gun and shoots Chuck in the head and delivers the line, 'Make my day, punk'.
I want to hang out with him one day, before I day I want to give him a high-5, see a movie and then listen to music to hear his grumpy ol' opinion. Yes.
good old clint eastwood. no one could match up to him or john wayne. when i seen dirty harry, i went and bought a .44 magnum. clint inspired me to be an actor and i'll have my first western movie here on youtube after i finish making it.
Dirty Harry takes on a serial killer released from prison in his seventies who turns out to be the (never found) Zodiac killer. Harry is brought out of retirement suffering from the same pain and aches as his suspect...I see a movie here. A young buddy cop will make a presence...and die in the end...I hope re Tyne Daly
I wouldn't care if he was pushing a walker, I'd still like to see Harry Callahan in action one more time. Maybe blowing away punks in the retirement home or something.
Dirty Harry was good but nothing will ever top his performance as Blondie, the man with no name, fist full of dollars, for a few dollars more, and the good the bad and the ugly. Have 3 coffins ready. My mistake 4 coffins.
There are those people who ridicule people for doing that which they did in their prime when they get older (sports, acting, etc), and then there are those people who it just doesn't matter, because it's about watching a legend. It almost doesn't matter how they perform, because of their greatness it will always be good.
i don't care if this movie will win oscers it wont be as epic a dirty harry 1

@SabbraCadabra : I'm well aware of just how many miserable little "gimme gimme" people serve in the military for their own self serving reasons. Just one of the reasons I didn't stay in. People doing their time and being lousy soldiers. You don't have to "bleed" the colors to appreciate what you owe to those who came before you, and what it teaches you about life. Your attitude and comments show that you didn't get that, still don't. For that reason, I'm glad your out.
MrSuperbombastik 10 months ago
@MrSuperbombastik Not everyone who joins the military for financial reasons is a "gimme gimme" person, lol. Now who's making baseless claims? Pot calling the kettle black, much?
And how would you know that I don't and didn't appreciate my time in the service or the work I did? Because I believe killing another man is murder? Ah yes, more baseless assertions. Well done, hypocrite.
SabbraCadabra 10 months ago
@SabbraCadabra : Actually it is not baseless. You, like many others site financial aid as the first reason for joining. The fact that you took part in supporting an "industry" that "murders" people according to your words proves that you were willing to whore yourself out for an end benefit; though your personal beliefs were in opposition. Jezus, grow up, be truthful about what you did, and move on.
MrSuperbombastik 10 months ago
@MrSuperbombastik I'm sorry i didn't jizz in my pants over every scene in the movie like you obviously did. I'm never going to change my stance on Clint or his movies because someone like you thinks i'm trolling. If I had said Clint's movies were god's gift to Cinema, you'd have thumbs upped me and lauded my statement. Instead, you label me a troll because I think Gran Torino, as well as the majority (not all) of the movies he directs are a pile of steaming dog poop.
What a paradox.
SabbraCadabra 10 months ago
@MrSuperbombastik I've seen Unforgiven, I've Seen Mystic River, I've seen Million Dollar Baby, I've Seen Letters to Iwo Jima, I've seen Gran Torino. I've seen my fair share of movies Eastwood has directed. Each of the above examples with the exception of Unforgiven suffered largely from poorly crafted dialogue, and flat performances from high caliber actors as a result of boring, plodding storylines.
Remember that scene in GT when Walt locks the kid in the house and he screams? Laughable.
SabbraCadabra 10 months ago
@SabbraCadabra : None of those movies' scripts were actually written by Eastwood. I'd love to know what you consider as "great" dialogue, then again, not really. I venture to guess that you don't appreciate Hemingway either. I don't "jizz" over any of the movies he does, but I can still appreciate that given the time they had merit. Those "flat performances" earned those actors many Oscars as well. The more you comment, the more you prove everything I've said. Quit while you're ahead.
MrSuperbombastik 10 months ago
@MrSuperbombastik Hemingway is a great Author. The Old Man and the Sea and For Whom the Bell Tolls are two of my favorite pieces of work by the man. Nice try, though. Eastwood may not have written the scripts, but he sure as hell directed the films. And as you're probably very aware, much of what the final product looks and feels like is is very much influenced and determined by the work the director does. So there's really no use in blaming a screenwriter for the turd his director pops out.
SabbraCadabra 10 months ago
@SabbraCadabra : Again, you argue that something is bad and give no actual example. While many others have lauded it. This is getting really old and your arguing something that is subjective; in which you are in the minority. Ugh.
MrSuperbombastik 10 months ago
@SabbraCadabra : "honorable" huh? Acting like a silly ass; on the taxpayer dime; dancing around a multi million dollar piece of equipment; and posting it on the internet; well done and EXACTLY what I expected. Another little American kid who likely joined for some benefit instead of really caring about his country, while making sure not take any direct physical threat. No wonder you don't understand the movies or war. I wonder if the people flying that plane knew you thought they were murderers?
MrSuperbombastik 11 months ago
@MrSuperbombastik Now, what was that you were saying about credibility? Oh, i have none and therefore i'm a douchebag because i happen to take a different stance, not only on Clint Eastwood's movies, but in how i view war? You're too funny. I'll have some of whatever you're smoking, please. :)
SabbraCadabra 11 months ago
@MrSuperbombastik The problem with Clint is that as far as a director goes, he just doesn't have the kind of chops that makes a director great. I feel weird when i see his movies, because the dialogue is generally unbelievably bland and the plots tend to move around aimlessly. Letters from Iwo Jima is probably the biggest example of his typical plodding nature. 2 and a half boring hours of nothing.
SabbraCadabra 11 months ago
@SabbraCadabra are you saying that Clint Eastwood isnt a great film maker?!!

Harry says, "Go ahead, make my bath!!"
Man I love Eastwood.

@StativStakitKasket chuck norris and clint are in 2 WAYYYY different categories Chuck Norris is a World Champion Martial Arts fighter while Clint Eastwood is a actor that plays a tuff guy roll in real life chuck norris would realistically beat the shit out of most people including Clint Eastwood but in the movies Clint would blow his head off
jackthePS3GAMER 10 months ago
@StativStakitKasket I know what your thinking Chuck, did I fire six shots or only five. Before he said his next line, Chuck Norris will kick his Smith and Western from his hands and with a flying back kick, poor old client will bit the dust. But lucky for Client, he carries more than one Gun and shoots Chuck in the head and delivers the line, 'Make my day, punk'.

There are those people who ridicule people for doing that which they did in their prime when they get older (sports, acting, etc), and then there are those people who it just doesn't matter, because it's about watching a legend. It almost doesn't matter how they perform, because of their greatness it will always be good.
