  • Fantastic!!!!

  • did you ever show the tutorial? can you put up a link to it?

  • @amandanicole624 Yes, there's parts two and three explaining the basics of getting started with this technique...I can't link them, but if you get on my Groundhogpeggy channel you should be able to find them. I plan to also put up a part four, but haven't had the chance to get to it yet.

  • i found a rose graph i want to do how would i make it bigger the make the afghan??

  • EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT - AND- THE EDGES OF YOUR

BLANKET ARE "EVEN".....AGAIN, EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT!!!

  • Hi phaythful, just switched to an iPad and can't seem to reply directly to a comment... Just remember any sized chart you use will be several times larger because each square of the graph consists of 6 stitches. I usually just find free graphs online to work from.

  • @groundhogpeggy can you tell me some of the sites you go to, to find your graphs? i dont want to just search and find viruses for my computer. LOL

  • How do you use a chart to make a large item? i mean...just by reading the chart...how do you make it large enough to be an afghan???

  • OMG! i would love to learn how you did your teddy bear blanket! i was wanting to make an afghan for my mom...but didnt know how. Would you do a tutorial on how you did that or something similar to that teddy bear blanket you showed on here?

  • I have been trying to find a graph for the star pattern that you used for the star squares the make the afghan in the back of the other videos. I was hoping to try it but haven't had any luck finding a graph

  • @wgflman I usually just hunt for free graphs I can find online... For the afghan you're referring to, I used a portion of a snowflake graph pattern for a sweater found in Canadian Living Online Mag: youtube doesn't let me link, but if you can search for Canadian Living, cozy knits snowflake sweater, you can find the graph... I used one tiny portion of that graph, since my method blows everything up really big. Thanks for watching!

  • @groundhogpeggy Thank you so much. I went on the Canadian Living website and found the graph without any problem. I am going to try to make an afghan with squares. This will be my first project using a graph and picture crochet. I hope the squares come out the right size. If they are small what do you do to enlarge the graph picture? Thank you for responding. I have been watching you picture crochet videos every day trying to learn the technique.

  • @wgflman Glad you were able to find it. I used a very small portion of their snowflake graph, because the technique I use to make the afghans enlarges everything quite a bit. If my graphs print up off the computer too small to work from, i usually take them to the library and enlarge them on one of their xerox machines so I can have something big enough to comfortably work from. Good luck with your project! Peggy

  • that is really good, i love the teddy bear blanket you crochet, was is it hard? and do you have a tutorial on how you made it. it's just lovely

  • @1988precious1 Hi. Sorry, I cannot find the page where i got the chart for that one! I usually just poke around the net a little bit and find free graphs I think I'll be able to use... print them off, and then make the project. I'm afraid I'm not very organized with all of this and move from project to project so quickly a lot get lots in the dust. There are lots of free graph patterns of bears out there for the finding, though. Thanks for watching! Peggy

  • Hello Peggy,

    Thank you.

    Alida

  • Hi Peggy,

I'm working on a picture with a variety of colors (a peacock). Will carrying along more than 2 colors cause a lot of bulk?

    Alida

  • @aralicea1 Hi Alida... yes, carrying a lot of colors adds a certain heft to the final product. The biggest challenge I've found, though, is if you carry more than three colors you spend a lot of time detangling the yarns. I've made things with up to 6 colors... if you have a lot of colors in certain areas you might be able to add them only on the rows where needed and then drop them elsewhere.

  • Hello Peggy, Now I understand. It makes sense now. Thank you.

  • Hi Peggy, Thank you, that is an excellent idea. One more question please: I understood the stitching to be sc in one stitch, dc in the next stitch. Two rows make one complete row. Is this correct?

    Alida

  • @aralicea1 The way I do it : 1 complete row has to be worked 1st from R-L, then completed by returning L-R. Each square of the graph is made up of 6 stitches- 3 going L, plus 3 that lock over top going back down R. From R-L you do sc, dc, & sc per square on graph, going back to complete the row from L-R you crochet, dc, sc, dc... opposite stitches to lock in over tops of the other ones, 6 total stitches per square. Sc, dc, sc, down each sq one way, & dc, sc, dc back, completing one row.

  • @groundhogpeggy Going Left to Right it's little stitch, tall stitch, little stitch per 1st half of each of the squares, and then coming back to right to complete the row, it's tall stitch, little stitch, tall stitch, to lock 6 stitches per square of the graph. I tried to show this in part two, but had to cut a lot out to fit it onto youtube, so it's probably not as clear as I wanted it to be... hope this explanation makes sense.

  • Hi Peggy, I started a brocade type of picture pattern using three colors and so far Ive used 2 of the color yarns and it has proved to be easy. One problem though, the yarn that gets worked over with the other yarn happens to peek through. The colors are taupe and sage green and when one or the other rests the restiung color still shows. How can I stop that from happening? Thank you.

    Alida

  • @aralicea1 I'm glad it's working out for you. As to the carried colors peeking through... this happens to me too... I don't think it affects the overall work. However, if you want them totally hidden I believe the secret is to use a much smaller hook and crochet a lot tighter than usual. Carol Ventura, tapestry crochet expert (whose ideas I borrowed liberally for this technique), says she uses a hook meant for thread yarns in places where most people would use an F or G...

  • @groundhogpeggy I tried the smaller, doily hooks when I made the "squares," actually rectangles shown in this video (snowflake design)... the carried colors were pretty much entirely hidden, but I had such a hard time crocheting so tight with such a small hook on regular, double ply yarn that it wasn't worth the effort to me, and I normally stick with the F or G size hooks. Ventura has some youtubes demonstrating her tapestry crochet using various size hooks if you search. Good luck!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information. I had so much trouble with the yarn when crocheting pictures that I gave up. However, I will give it a go again with your suggestions. Thanks again.

  • @aralicea1 Hope it works out for you. Let me know if you run into trouble; maybe I could help! Good luck and let me know how it goes!

    Peggy

  • wow it will take me months to make that D:

  • @SthealthRaider LOL! i was thinking it will probably take me my whole life!

  • i absolutly love it!!! about time some has fig it out. beautiful. thank you. i watched the how to's and saved them. I can"t wait ti try it oiut. thanks so much take care

  • Good luck with it, and let me know how it turns out. I've just started a little newborn afghan. I got the graph for this little blankie from the mini graph cross stitch section of shonasplace. This will make an afghan about 30 stitches by 30, if I chop off a couple of unnecessary squares on the sides. I was thinking I should put some of the process on youtube as I go along. but so far, too lazy to get the camera out whenever I've had a minute to sit down and work on the thing.
