1970s: Lance's mom Pat and I used to catch him at CBGB and Max's Kansas City, and once at the Phoenix Theater on Second Avenue, NYC. Great good fun it was. I visited Lance in hospice in LA 2001 and he asked me for a copy of my Joplin bio PEARL. Later I attended his very cool funeral at the Chateau Marmont where Rufus Wainwright sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Lance: one lovable lad.
