i have reason to believe that the reason behind the wearing of neckties is because the synthetic fibers in neckties contain subatomic energetic particles exclusive to necktie fibers called tachions and these particles emit energy throughout the time and causing a chain reaction of isotopic atoms which produce cosmic powers such as time travel or the ability to create an FTL drive (a device that causes a user to go Faster Than Light. [idea comes from Star Trek]). Which is why people wear neckties
I emailed you my answer - your question is so simple you answer it yourself. It is self expression just like those young guys that wear their pants around the ankles almost - crakin.
BeanMeister22 -= you sure are wearing several different ties so you should ask yourself. Here is the answer - A necktie is a form of Expression, like the young guys with the pants hanging so low that they are "crackin" Now some girls may be impressed with that - "Beauty therefore fashion is in the eye of the beholder"
I can further explain this but I suggest that you go to these blog and web site posts.
I like that you ask 'Why'. Besides health issues, I don't wear ties because I don't wish to comply with social norms, especially with unconscious behavior. I prefer to live more consciously.
Wikipedia had good info, but years ago on Paul Harvey's " Rest of the Story" program, he shared how the necktie was used as part of the uniform to protect the throat from the enemies swords. Sounds like an unconscious message of "I am in defense mode". Suitable perhaps for office/business attire & dating?
Wearing a tie creates a professional look with a suit. Nobody really believes that casual clotehs look better. That's the trend now, and most people are afraid to go against the trend - so they say that casual clothes are great.
There is a lot of pressure now to dress like a slob. Anyone who stands up to that and dresses professionally is a maverick. I trust a man in a necktie and a suit in a professional setting. I don't trust someone who dresses down because he is afraid to dress well.
I agree with you 100%. I just wonder where that idea got into our heads. But until I can completely understand the exact reasons for this, I will continually be in search of the perfect power tie.
Funny!!!!!! Battim's comment was great! I think a nice pale blue shirt could look good with some of those ties!!!!! I think clothes are fun-just wear what YOU like...i do. xxxxxxxx
she doesnt wear neckties, thank god. its formal, pychological layering and covering up one humanity, that is, flawed personas. look up milgram and obedience experiments on google. uniforming and visual cues have a lot to do reaction to that authority. its efficient, hence military dress.
Thanks, I'll look that up when I get a chance. I was thinking...if we are (or have been) conditioned to think that way, then maybe I could use it to my advantage. After all, "it is those who know the truth, who have all the power."
I'd love to see an answer to this myself. When I was a kid, I was taught that wearing a tie was what men did when they were "well dressed," like every Sunday for church. My Dad taught me how to tie one, and by the time I was 10, I was rather proud of the fact that I could do it myself.
To this day, I have NO frickin' clue as to why we do it, other than "it's what men do." I opted out about 20 years ago. If I need a napkin, I can use the sleeve of my tee shirt. LOL
Years ago men where not men unless a necktie was worn. Stereotyping. Now it was a norm and you got used to it so you didn't think about it.
Years went by and questions got asked and the tie began to disappear. This did not make it right or wrong. It made it a matter of chose unless the job dictated different.

I have always wanted to choke someone with their own tie. Not really.
I think it is to distract someone from see that he is wearing the same old suit.

Good points. I like to push against the norm by wearing a tie when it is least expected, and not wearing a tie when it is required:)

I like paisley but a bolero is attractive too.

Thanks.
Since I'm a guy; maybe I think clothes are just utilitarian in nature, or maybe I just don't have any sense of style...heck, I don't know...

LOL! Well, for me it's required for my work. I have the clip on type so if I start heading down the paper shredder, I might have a chance ;)
PCinoGuy 3 years ago
I don't have a clip-on, but I try to keep my tied as long as possible, I just loosen it and pull it over my head; I'm horrible at tying them.

I got stuck in a shredder with one lol!

Neck ties suck. I;m glad I work somewhere where they're not required. Just feels like you're in a noose all day.

I think a necktie makes a good napkin you keep on all day in case you have to wipe your mouth :) lol

I never wear them; I work in the manufacturing industry and wear a hardhat and coveralls.
