As I do agree with you, the problem with that is finding those original films. Steven Lisberger nor anyone has the original cuts from what I have been told. I've talked to Steven as well as Peggy about this.
@ChrisKewl Aww, snap. That's awful... If this is true (and I don't have any reason not to believe you), there won't be a titanium ultra bluray edition with 3h worth of bonus material and an audio commentary, along with HQ audio. It would be worth every penny.
@ChrisKewl I know that there is a TV quality print with Michael Fremer when I last talked to him. Again, NBC is a big guess to all at the moment... In 2014 will be the 35th anniversary of the Summer Games cut, I'd like to see something happen... I just don't know right now...
"This movie" is actually two films hastily (and rather sloppily) cut together: The winter games, which were shown on TV, and the longer summer games, which never were. THAT'S what they should release on DVD: The two films as separate parts, like they were originally meant to be seen.
This movie I LOVED when I was a kid. I still love it even today. It's a very clever film, and you've got an equally clever singer/songwriter doing the songs, too. Let's face it...Graham Gouldman is a genius.
I have the movie on old VHS but sadly at least two of the parts screw up now!
Trust and believe if this movie ever came out on DVD it'd shoot to number one in like 2 minutes! Its that good and I don't think I can think of any reason to NOT have a re-release with the soundtrack.
Graham Gouldman was absolutely STELLAR with this soundtrack that much is for sure!
The movie and the Soundtrack need to be released together as a set CD and DVD man... I have it on an old cassette and I have the record but no turntable tp play it...
I think this entire darn movie needs to be remastered--not only is it charming as all get out, but the music is awesome. This is my favorite song from this movie, and it sounds wonderful redone like this. Nostalgia just hit me like a ton of bricks, and I'm loving the bruises! ...Or something.
Is it wrong that I consider this one of the "top 10 Animated Movies of all time"?

@Celsius1996 Not unless someone has a great copy or NBC finds them in their vault somehow.

@ChrisKewl Maybe we could ask Google to index their archives - it would be incredibly sad if the originals were lost...

Love this. I have this song on my IPod - the longer version with longer ending and also a longer instrumental break.

The scene between 0:44 through 0:50 were cut when this aired on the Disney Channel back when the channel used to quality in its programming.

And yet the martini Neon sign at 1:12 is still used in the Disney version.
