@cleemeyer1 My response.... K1 boxing is nice and all but its too old school; two guys going at it for an hour with pillows on their hands isnt fun to watch anymore. People want to see an evolved sport take on pretty much all aspects of fighting. The reason wrestlers are very formidable is because they are allowed to use the skills that they train for. Believe it or not an experienced wrestler and submission artist can destroy almost any mainly striker you put them up against. No disrespect.

@roverman540 You are an idiot. MMA is not real fighting it's a sport. And btw gloves are meant to protect your hands not the opponent's head. That's why boxing is such a manly sport, because you go in there and you have no other choice - you have to get hit in the head. MMA is great but it's still ages behind other sports. MMA fighters get what? 10k a fight? That's what most basketball, soccer, tennis, hockey and boxing players get in 2 weeks. MMA is a great sport but the talent pool is not deep

Even if you look up a highlight video of any MMA fight you can see that it is 100% real. Ufc has some devastating rules but look at pride and say "Its just a sport". In boxing sure you may be forced to get hit in the head but whats the point of getting your brains beat in when you can train to not get hit at all? Boxing is dead.

@DestroyerAlexandros And the gloves in boxing are like little shields. MMA gloves are meant to allow full hand control for both grappling and striking. The old generation of boxing fans are still alive so its obvious it will still be a prominent sport for a while. You still have to face the facts it will be passed up. MMA takes all aspects of fighting into account and does it gloriously. Two guys punching is nice but watching an explosive MMA fight is better than two hours of a pillow fight.

I started boxing when I was 15 and "transitioned" to MMA but the more I learn about combative sports the more I realize what a gigantic gap there is. You watch an MMA fight and it's exciting and unpredictable BUT the athletes are just ages behind for example Roy Jones. You see Shane Carwin the top contender at HW gas in 5 minutes and not to mention a lot of guys seem to mix up bodybuilding and combat training. You see guys like (continues)

Then you watch James Toney in his prime in the 90s and you're left speechless. @roverman540 are also determining factos. And in MMA the guys make like 100 thou a fight, boxers make 1 mil a fight. It's simple economics, the better athletes are going to transition into the better paid sport. As you can see, when Roger Gracie or Jacare transition into MMA, the skill gap is so HUGE on the ground that MMA guys don't stand a chance. And the striking difference between boxers and any any other combat sport is EVEN BIGGER. The skill and athleticism of boxers is what keeps it going

Frankie edgar, Chael Sonnen, Grey maynard are three that have A LOT of stamina and endurance. People often just refer to heavy weight MMA fighters because they do run out of steam pretty fast, but these are 205+ lbs guys that are forced to use their whole body. @pryzed1 Naaaaaah man. The TOP of the heap UFC guys get 300-400k a fight and they fight 3 times a year. That's 1.2 mil a year. That's what Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United makes in 3 months. That's what Rafael Nadal makes a month (without the sponsorship deals which are ridiculous in tennis). I love MMA to death but having done both MMA and boxing in an Eastern European country that has a constant flow of combat athletes, the boxing talent pool is much deeper.
