actually it is the first one not set around christmas... remember the kid when he took the bike if i quote right he said "look around man its christmas all the cops are into something you could steal city hall" yes this doesnt mean that it isnt around christmas but the line was still there meaning that it could still have been in the month of december
Judging by what I've seen from the trailer, I think the diehard thing with christmas is gone, and this film is really a diehard in a post 9/11 world. The movie opens on July 4th, and it looks like the message is "we'll fight for our independence or die" kind of thing. I don't know for sure, but it seems like this. Can't wait to see it.
I saw the trailer etc and it doesn't look as though this film is set around Christmas time like in previous DIE HARDS. Does this mean I wont be able to annoy my friends by saying catch frases such as 'Ho ho ho I got a machine gun!' and 'No Turkey? it's Christmas!'?

Die Hard 3 was NOT set around Christmas, unless it's 80 degrees in New York on Christmas.

This isn't the first die hard movie not set on christmas time, the third movie isn't around christmas.
