I know because I've played trumpet for four years, and i hate all of the overtones (i think that's what it's called) that you can get with one fingering. Like having fingered a Low Bb. You could play Bb, F, Bb, D, F, Bb, D.

Heck, you could play it with just 3rd valve or 2nd (wouldn't sound pretty tho). And yes, it's in fact a D. No question about it (unless you're deaf or too lazy to get a tuner out :P
