@blahblop123 my grandpa owns a wrecking yard where i've bought two of my cars so far. the first was a 10 year old VW passat which had a bad turbo. $2000 fix for mechanic, 800 for me. the second was a 12 year old audi which i got lucky on and only needed spark plugs. but there were reciepts in the glove box showing the previous owner had to rebuild the transmission, and multiple other reciepts. a total of around $6000. don't even get me started on BMWs. more electronics, more things to go wrong.

@pizzaboyharmony it is dependant ..95% of the people in the uk don't know a thing about cars, but then again, 95% follow all the servicing procedures.. here in the UK, a second hand car's value can drop by more than a half if it does not have a fully, signed and stamped by a genuine dealership at the correct intervals, service history...so servicing is wise. and an unserviced car will last a year or 2, regardless of where its made.. but when serviced, the euro cars are better.

@pizzaboyharmony its not even a patriotic thing, i've owned a modern japanese car, a modern german car and a modern american... i had no problems with the japanese mechanically, the only problem i had with the germans was costs, mechanically perfect.. the american car (the old CTS-V), problems with the rear diff which whined, electronic failure, rattling interior, rough idle (not a prob in a sports car but this isn't), stiff ride, these issues are unacceptable in a 'luxury' car, or any ROAD car.

@blahblop123 my grandpa owns a wrecking yard where i've bought two of my cars so far. the first was a 10 year old VW passat which had a bad turbo. $2000 fix for mechanic, 800 for me. the second was a 12 year old audi which i got lucky on and only needed spark plugs. but there were reciepts in the glove box showing the previous owner had to rebuild the transmission, and multiple other reciepts. a total of around $6000. don't even get me started on BMWs. more electronics, more things to go wrong.

@pizzaboyharmony it is dependant ..95% of the people in the uk don't know a thing about cars, but then again, 95% follow all the servicing procedures.. here in the UK, a second hand car's value can drop by more than a half if it does not have a fully, signed and stamped by a genuine dealership at the correct intervals, service history...so servicing is wise. and an unserviced car will last a year or 2, regardless of where its made.. but when serviced, the euro cars are better.

@blahblop123 i would rather have the Cadillac. my parents used to have a Jag and it's a really nice car, the engine is smooth, and the transmission felt responsive. but it's more of a status really, and the engine noise just doesn't sing to me like an American v8. we could argue about this for a lifetime because we both just want to be proud for our countries. simple truth is, a car will last as well as the owner cares for it. it matters very little on where it was made.

@pizzaboyharmony its not even a patriotic thing, i've owned a modern japanese car, a modern german car and a modern american... i had no problems with the japanese mechanically, the only problem i had with the germans was costs, mechanically perfect.. the american car (the old CTS-V), problems with the rear diff which whined, electronic failure, rattling interior, rough idle (not a prob in a sports car but this isn't), stiff ride, these issues are unacceptable in a 'luxury' car, or any ROAD car.
