No no. This is a terrible terrible film in it's own right. Even if it wasn't a bond film. Even if it didn't follow Casino Royale's high bench mark. It's a bad film. The story's weak, incomprihensibly told and poorly excecuted. There are moments of really bad acting as well, not because of actors, because the script was so terrible.

I can't believe the guy who said Pierce pretty boy but old as fuck Brosnan over Daniel fucking Craig. He is the best Bond of all of them, period. Sean Connery was great, but the old Bond movies are a little trite and corny (which is part of their brilliance, I guess). But the new Bond approach is: Bond is younger, kicks tons of ass, gets all the babes, and the villains are realistic (sort of) bad guys with powerful political motivations. Bond is alive and well through Craig. So STFU.

Bond has ALWAYS been about fantasy, about escapism - not just violence. Even Ian Fleming called them "fairy-tales for adults". At times I do agree they became far too child friendly, now it seems they've gone the other way as Bond in his last film was a generic action figure. Plus, Fleming's novels had proper style, panache and a decent story with flamboyant characters (Drax, Klebb etc). The bland QoS has little of this. I don't believe for a moment that the author would have liked the film.
It's typical that so-called fans of this truly atrocious film swear and make nasty comments about other fans who do not like this double-o-thug type Bond. I prefer the 007 films when they were fun and exciting to watch and entire families could go and see them. Now they are just mindless violent trash. As somebody else put on here - Bond is dead. @TheNeognostic - It is those cheesy old school pictures with fakey gadgets and hammy punch-lines that made the Bond films so successful in the first place! I don't think they would they would of survived if they had all stuck to Fleming's dictum - audiences want entertainment and larger than life escapism - Jason Bourne films are much better at realism than the bland Craig films.
i love QoS better than casino royale plus this bond seems alot realer than the other ones plus this shows the other side of bond i love this even though i miss Pierce Bronsman Dan Craig is really a good actor for bond and i cant wait for the next bond film

What a bad, bad, bad and so on sequel of James Bond ever! You can't follow nothing of the sequences, our eyes were not made for this! 007 now really has died!
This has got to be one of the best bond movies. Gripping action sequences that fit to progess the story, rich immersive natural scenery especially the warmth of the italian beach location scenes. Marc Forster's direction uplifted the Bond franchise to new levels that had not previously ben explored, in particular the opera house scene where the gun fight was intercut with the on stage drama was brilliant peice of cinema. Totally reccomend it.
Much prefer Connery & Moore's distinctive voices. Even Brosnan's Irish/American brogue. I am a man but still entitled to my opinion whether another man is ugly. All men and women I've spoken to think Craig's ugly. He beefed up for CR to compensate for being 5ft nothing and had to wear tight trunks to create a minor media stir. The 4 year gap and massive PR machine ensured CR did good business. Britain needs Bond to succeed and bigged up CR culminating in it amazingly getting Bafta nominations.

A good philosophy to emphasize masculinity in action to both youth (gamers) and Eastern European mentality, but dangerous to intermixed societies in Europe. A 25-year old has the physical strength to execute his personalised idaho. Female's father figurative image seems to be ok (but I am no expert in that).
The trick is to 'place' both identities in the right position at the right shot, every time. Oneliners are still 'in' to emphasize their presences. Making movies is wonderful thing.
Tonight i watched Thunderball followed by this. In comparison to Thunderball, this film is slow, boring and takes itself far to serious and has no panache, wit or excitment as the Connery movie from 40 years ago did. I can only hope they can sprinkle a bit of the formula i mentioned into the next installment.
I like his new ruthlessnes. He is always shooting people first and ask questions later.
I kind of like him as a hero, but its not really in the James Bond tradition. At least they didnt follow on the stupid love plot. I hated that in Casino Royal, it was so much unlike Bond.
I like the script, tone and feel of QoS and (some) of the action sequences but I feel like they did not edit some of the action scenes well (too choppy, too much not shown to the audience, too many quick cuts etc.) For instance the on foot chase in Italy in which Bond chases someone across the streets and on rooftops is cut confusingly together with horse race and the Opera shootout was cut together with the play and I could not discern what was happening in the shootout. With or without "gadgets" the next James Bond film as been put on hold due to mounting financial troubles at MGM. So while we're waiting, I'm wondering if
the time has come to continue on with Daniel Craig or replace him. Craig's contract

Quantum Of Solace is a disgrace to call a Bond movie. Bad direction, theme song, characters, plot, mindless violence. I have been waiting for this film when i heard about it, because Casino Royale was before James Bond had his licence to kill. Quantum Of Solace is the best Bond out of all of them so far.
Loved it. Definately doesn't even touch Casino Royale, but the darker side of Bond was nice to see for a change, something that Bond films lack. People can hate this film, but the fact is Bond fans are split between the love of the quirky and witty bond with gadgets and one-night stands and those who enjoy action but with a deeper plotline and a darker story. This time they made the correct move. Great film, could have ended stronger, but i am excited for the next one. Craig proves he is Bond.
As someone who doesn't think the film works, I have to say I agree with your impatience at the petty squabbling among the fanbase between the light tone of Roger Moore at one end of the spectrum, and the serious Dalton/Craig eras at the other.
This is a franchise that has given us many different types of films ranging from romantic drama to sci-fi, so there's no 'correct' approach per se. Having said that, I think the current overall tone is appropriate as we live in somewhat nastier times.

Well the movie is LOADS better than the book. the Quantum of Solace book is hardly a Bond book at all, with respect to Ian Flemming.
i think that the problem with this film is that greene, was not a good enough 'bad guy' as all he was after was water, i mean come on, a 'bad guy' in a bond film that wants to control water, just let him have it, its not like he has a laser or anything.
and the film also seemed to go from one action sequence to another, with very little plot development in between the action parts
This film has lost the idea of Bond himself. Daniel Craig is incredible, he's a good Bond, but the whole film has lost its daintiness and cool charm. It has became an action movie, not a delicate and intelligent parody of secret agency. Of course, Craig makes up for it, I absolutely love him.
But the initial idea of Bond movie has lost somewhere.

Frankly, me and my friends thought this is the worst James Bond movie ever! If I want to watch realistic James Bond type movie, I would rather choose "Bourne Identity".
There were no new gadgets. I have never seen Bond will revenge or get hurt in any part of the body.
Besides "The Blare Witch Project", QOS is another movie I had to keep my eyes close at the action scene, it still made me felt dizzy looking at it.
The only thing QoS lacks of is elegance. No, not the Moore-type of it, just pure elegance, that is Bond's unique attribute.
The story is kind of unfinished, but this may be because the "new kind of franchise". Oh, and Olga Kurylenko is the worst Bond-girl, but she had no/silly role in the film, so it may not be her mistake. Otherwise, a fine movie.
I felt short changed watched qos. It should have been a great film but it just concentrated too much on action. Casino is an excellent film, much more in keeping with the style of the books. Qos should have continued that. A real missed opportunity.
Craig is the first Bond since Connery who is convincing in the role. Yes, this is a fine action film. But, it is a remake of a multitude of vignettes taken from previous Bond as well as other recent (Borne) action films. Enjoy the bad guys getting their due. JB in Toronto
Craig as bond is great, and casino and quantum were also perfect, but when it comes to classics, my favourite bond movies are thunderball, you only live twice, live and let die, licence to kill and golden eye. Brosnan did an amazing job in golden eye, unfortunately his other bond movies were worth shit....
Just watched QOS yesterday - to be honest (and this is just my opinion), I preferred Casino Royale - the action sequences are great in QOS, but beyond that I felt it was a bit lack-lustre. Sorry fans, I'm a bond fanatic myself so I'm giving an honest critique.
i agree, qos was good but casino royal gave bond more of an edge and a better look into bond and how he became bond, ive heard alot of people say craig lacks charisma and class but in casino royale, he was rough but witty which is a good combination for the new films

According to Christopher Lee (Ian Fleming's cousin), Pierce Brosnan is closest to the Bond that Fleming wrote and discussed. I refuse to get into the debate though. I've never hated a Bond. I like On Her Majesty's Secret Service. And I like Dalton. He was the dark heart of Bond.

sean was the first bond, so what they did was shape bonds persibalitys around seans. because they did this i believe he is the better bond. although is saying that the peirce did the best job on portraying seans personalitys back into bond this making him a top actor.
Couldn't have said it better myself! Although Brosnan is the closest to the actual Bond, Connery was still the original Bond, you can't beat the classics!

Shake the camera round and it'll be like a Bourne film. You can't see what's happening but it is like a Bourne film so that's ok.

It all started to go downhill with Timothy Dalton. Brosnan did a good job of reviving the true Bond spirit, then we end up with this utter garbage.
Time to kill off James Bond so we can just re-watch the greats.

A good philosophy to emphasize masculinity in action to both youth (gamers) and Eastern European mentality, but dangerous to intermixed societies in Europe. A 25-year old has the physical strength to execute his personalised idaho. Female's father figurative image seems to be ok (but I am no expert in that).

Tonight i watched Thunderball followed by this. In comparison to Thunderball, this film is slow, boring and takes itself far to serious and has no panache, wit or excitment as the Connery movie from 40 years ago did. I can only hope they can sprinkle a bit of the formula i mentioned into the next installment.

I kind of like him as a hero, but its not really in the James Bond tradition. At least they didnt follow on the stupid love plot. I hated that in Casino Royal, it was so much unlike Bond.

I like the script, tone and feel of QoS and (some) of the action sequences but I feel like they did not edit some of the action scenes well (too choppy, too much not shown to the audience, too many quick cuts etc.) For instance the on foot chase in Italy in which Bond chases someone across the streets and on rooftops is cut confusingly together with horse race and the Opera shootout was cut together with the play and I could not discern what was happening in the shootout. To be fair to QofS, if you watch it directly after CR, it is better appreciated.
I love Craig as Bond. All of the Bonds bring something different and change is needed to keep the series alive and flourishing.

With or without "gadgets" the next James Bond film as been put on hold due to mounting financial troubles at MGM. So while we're waiting, I'm wondering if
the time has come to continue on with Daniel Craig or replace him. Craig's contract
has a clause of some kind for two more films. MGM is seriously in the red right
now and Quantum of Solace was a huge disappointment among Bond fans and
observers.

Quantum Of Solace is a disgrace to call a Bond movie. Bad direction, theme song, characters, plot, mindless violence. It used to be pleasure to watch Messrs Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan in their respective films - even Casino Royale was...fairly good but the last 'effort' must of been produced by zombies for zombies....shame!

Loved it. Definately doesn't even touch Casino Royale, but the darker side of Bond was nice to see for a change, something that Bond films lack. People can hate this film, but the fact is Bond fans are split between the love of the quirky and witty bond with gadgets and one-night stands and those who enjoy action but with a deeper plotline and a darker story. This time they made the correct move. Great film, could have ended stronger, but i am excited for the next one. Craig proves he is Bond.

As someone who doesn't think the film works, I have to say I agree with your impatience at the petty squabbling among the fanbase between the light tone of Roger Moore at one end of the spectrum, and the serious Dalton/Craig eras at the other.
This is a franchise that has given us many different types of films ranging from romantic drama to sci-fi, so there's no 'correct' approach per se. Having said that, I think the current overall tone is appropriate as we live in somewhat nastier times.

i think that the problem with this film is that greene, was not a good enough 'bad guy' as all he was after was water, i mean come on, a 'bad guy' in a bond film that wants to control water, just let him have it, its not like he has a laser or anything.
and the film also seemed to go from one action sequence to another, with very little plot development in between the action parts

This film has lost the idea of Bond himself. Daniel Craig is incredible, he's a good Bond, but the whole film has lost its daintiness and cool charm. It has became an action movie, not a delicate and intelligent parody of secret agency. Of course, Craig makes up for it, I absolutely love him.
But the initial idea of Bond movie has lost somewhere.

Frankly, me and my friends thought this is the worst James Bond movie ever! If I want to watch realistic James Bond type movie, I would rather choose "Bourne Identity".
There were no new gadgets. I have never seen Bond will revenge or get hurt in any part of the body.
Besides "The Blare Witch Project", QOS is another movie I had to keep my eyes close at the action scene, it still made me felt dizzy looking at it.

The only thing QoS lacks of is elegance. No, not the Moore-type of it, just pure elegance, that is Bond's unique attribute.
The story is kind of unfinished, but this may be because the "new kind of franchise". Oh, and Olga Kurylenko is the worst Bond-girl, but she had no/silly role in the film, so it may not be her mistake. Otherwise, a fine movie.

Craig is the first Bond since Connery who is convincing in the role. Yes, this is a fine action film. But, it is a remake of a multitude of vignettes taken from previous Bond as well as other recent (Borne) action films. Enjoy the bad guys getting their due. JB in Toronto

Just watched QOS yesterday - to be honest (and this is just my opinion), I preferred Casino Royale - the action sequences are great in QOS, but beyond that I felt it was a bit lack-lustre. Sorry fans, I'm a bond fanatic myself so I'm giving an honest critique.

According to Christopher Lee (Ian Fleming's cousin), Pierce Brosnan is closest to the Bond that Fleming wrote and discussed. I refuse to get into the debate though. I've never hated a Bond. I like On Her Majesty's Secret Service. And I like Dalton. He was the dark heart of Bond.
