@mrbadx19 You know, there might come a day when he realizes that all money in the world cannot outweigh all the things he missed with his kids etc. but what do i know. And believe me, i have plenty of things to be happy about, and none of these things have to do with money. As mentioned earlier - the best things in life (read: the things in life that count) are free.
Quite frankly, to get 5 weeks vacation a year has zilch to do with what i call freedom and happiness.Of life for that matter.
Nothing wrong with farming. Its a good education too. But many of you on here don't have a clue. You can do this too if you really want to. This is America, You can do anything. Listen to this man, You may learn something. You should be thankful he is willing to teach you something. Quit the jealousy and do something useful. Chances are I am no more wealthy then a butcher. But that's my problem, not Mr. Roots, or any other 1%'s. I'm working on that one. God bless America and its freedoms.
Lol wow these comments. I am working to be a 1% proudly. That must mean I just offended 99% of your posters. I totally agree with your logic. I am a poor man by most respects but I enjoy earning my living. I wouldn't mind even risking a little. I am poor but I don't want you to hand me anything, I want to earn it. God bless you sir.
@beatz04 i dunno, he seems to enjoy his existence, bless his soul, too bad you have nothing to be happy about...
i go to vegas 2 times a year, i'm gonna see his star and take a pic of it! i work my butt off, get 5 weeks vacation a year, spend at least 2 in vegas...
"I'll never retire!!!! All I can do is make millions more and keep working!!!! No pension waiting for me!!"
Hey guess what. Thanks to government spending and bailouts none of us need to worry about a nasty pension waiting for us!! Oh but we don't make 6 figure incomes we just allow people like you to do that through being exploited.
You're telling us every single individual can make $200K + per year but we are just too lazy? The economy doesn't work that way champ
But listen to you, talking about your World Class home, your kids in Ivy league schools, complaining about Occupy. The movement isnt against YOU personally! The real goals of Occupy involve the Federal reserve, the Campaign contributions that corporations are making to essentially blackmail/ bribe the politicians. Not to mention the unnecessary wars that have been started to line the pockets of the extremely wealthy!
You need to do your research.. The occupy movement know full well the top .1% are the real problem! The slogan we are the 99% is simply that.. A slogan.. I dont believe half of what you are saying. And you make it sound like the Occupy movement is wanting to toss you on the streets and make you homeless..
Otherwise, we will have little choice in disbelieving your claim that you make between $250K and $500K per year. Publish it to back up your statements, please. I would love nothing more than to believe you, but you gotta prove it. Gotta prove you're in this lower 99% of the top 1%, or you lack credibility on the claim of it's the poor lowly job-creators, including yourself, being asked to take the hit on the slight tax rate increase proposals.
Also, Wayne, since you claim or at least imply that you are one of the people whom the proposals to make the tax code slightly more progressive on people making $250K-$500K per year (though still far far less than the top brackets' rates in the 60s and 70s) would effect, in order to prove your claim, please publish publicly your 2010 tax return - your personal 1040, showing us the relevant information, such as your name and signature, and your "total income" - line 22.
And since you said that you "allow" your employees to "live the American Dream", I'd like to see some evidence for that claim - which one of your employees, specifically, have made enough as a good employee to "live the American dream"; that is, pay more than just their basic bills, but also have enough disposable income to start a new business and live the American dream?
And if it's all about "outworking" and "outsmarting", and nothing else tell us please, Mr. Root, who paid your tuition and supported you at Columbia University? I'd sure LOVE for you to tell us that, since you disparage those with unfair head starts, like Donald Trump.
So you entirely miss the point. The actual proposals of we the people will simply continue to ensure that the system ALLOWS people in the middle class and lower class to climb to where you are, the lower 99% of the top 1%, rather than unfairly favoring the billionaires, wall street bankers, and others who stack the deck against us. Good job and thank you for working hard and providing jobs, but misinformed rant.
Root, you completely misunderstand - we know FULL WELL that we're REALLY talking about the top 1% of the 1%. We already KNOW that. It's just a lot easier for soundbites to say 1%, than 1/100th of 1%. So you're wasting your breath and telling us something we already know. Misplaced anger. Absolutely we should support you. But we the independents, who have NOTHING to do with Obama/leftists/socialists/etc., agree with the OWS. We don't want to punish you, and the proposals do NOT punish you.
Wayne is as true as it gets.. Those who don"t understand what he is saying will once they get out of the fog and smoke screen Obama has created., Get out of the fog. "Break the chain" Leave a legacy. Put your family name on the map. Shoot for the 1%. Thanks Mr. Root.
capitalism and meritocracy perpetuate the most primitive predatory animalistic Natural Laws self-interest incentives that are in direct contradiction to a healthy prosperous, progressive vibrant sane tranquil society.
profit incentives reward wealth consolidation & aristocratic inheritance ...with yet more wealth, for its own sake. regardless how it's attained
...yet technological progress is secondary to 21st century Feudalism. financiers make millions in bonuses yet scientists are unemployed.
@aimeern1 Your response demonstrates that you are very much a socialist. Anyone who believes wealth should be forcibly redistributed is a socialist. There is no way around it. Women should not vote or have anything to do with politics in the first place. It is wrong for anyone to vote to destroy others freedoms, but it is particularly sinful for women to excercise authority over men. Your Satanic Marxist philosophy has destroyed my country.
According to the WSJ an income of $506k a year to be in the top 1%, so with your income of "$250k - $500k" you are not in the one percent, unless you have an alternative source of information which shows differently. An income of $500k would put you in the 'top 2%' and an income of $250k would put you in the 'top 4%'. This whole video for nothing hey? Come back when you qualify, you 99 percenter ;)
For the record, I am a former Libertarian who now considers myself a Libertarian-leaning independent. I believe that we all have personal choices to make in our lives, and those are our choices to make. Likewise, the results of said choices are ours to either enjoy or regret. If you ask me "Are you a liberal or a conservative?", I respond "Neither....I am Dan". I despise labels.
@madhatter0110 I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'll be the first to admit that I don't have a lot of money (nor do I want a lot for that matter), but when it comes to the time I spend with my kids, watching and helping them grow, I consider myself the richest man in the world! It's the Holiday Season, and I recommend everyone here to watch "It's a Wonderful Life". There's a lot of wisdom in that movie!
If I had to decide between being in the top 1% or attending as many of my kids' events as possible, I would choose the latter in a heartbeat. Experiencing your children as they grow up can never be bought nor can that time ever be recovered.
@paulnguyen6324 You must not be human or you will come to regret the personal choice later in life. Then again you're the one who has to live with it.
I've got to be honest Wayne. I was really disheartened when I heard you say that you never attend your kids' events because you're working around the clock to maintain monetary wealth. Not that there's anything wrong with being wealthy, but these are precious times of your life with your kids that you and they will never get back. I'm not rich by any means, but my time with my children is more precious than any amount of money I could ever make! The best things in life are free.
Tell 'em, Wayne. You know, the best way to cure socialists of their socialism, is to let them have it. Create socialist enclaves here and there in the country where they can regulate and tax to their heart's content. After a short while people will be streaming out of those places, cured forever. It happened to me.
When Wayne ran four years ago I was hoping he would have gotten on the top of the ticket instead of V.P. I was looking forward for him to run again this year but I don't see him making that move yet. Will he be running as a Libertarian this year?
Great job, Wayne! It's time someone put a real and honest face to the 1% instead of the media hyped versions of the ultra-greedy we've been seeing. Thank you for making this video!!
@LibertyMike1 I'm hoping he runs. In 2008, he was the ideal candidate, and shared my views exactly, but because of Bob Barr, had to settle for the VP slot. I really hope he runs, and would definitely back him as the Libertarian candidate, or VP again if Gary Johnson switches from the Republican ticket.
