  • Who is singing at 2:56 and then after that? He's really good!

  • @eslomovits Matt Doyle - he's my favourite part!

  • Gideon at 1:37-2:02 and 4:15-4:40

    <3

  • This musical :O xxxx -3 so much love for it!

  • HOW CAN HE BE GAY!!!

  • What...........show is this? ._.

  • @FlattenS Spring Awakening.

  • awkward hand holding = love

  • I swear Matt Doyle could perform all the male roles in Spring Awakening and be amazing at every single one.

  • I just really love Gideon's voice! And Jon's voice, and well really all of their voices.

  • Is this the Original Broadway cast?

  • @LeksiTalksALot It's not some are understudies, but Jon and Lea are in it. And yes it's the whole show.

  • so are these nine videos the whole musical

  • ok ok ok is it Matt Doyle?

  • And just realized whoever that guy is he isn't the usual, who is he??

  • Who is the guy at 03:00 again? I keep losing track!

  • 02:54 is on replay for me

  • SO GOOD

  • What does he say after "measure up?"

  • This was on Broadway, right? Or was it off-broadway? I'm trying to figure out how they managed the seats on stage if it was broadway.

  • word of your body is just so beautiful! Its one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard

  • oh my lanta....Matt Fucking Doyle <3

  • uhmm moritz is not played by John Gallagher Jr. in this one @jsabex123

  • gideon... i love you<3 sing to me?

  • who is playing Moritz in this video?

  • @othlover13 John Gallagher Jr. ^.^

  • @othlover13 Gerard Canonico

  • I am absolutely in LOVE with touch me. Such a good performance.

  • Well, that hug must be awkward...

  • I wish I knew what they were saying argg

  • "Oh, I'm gonna be wounded

Oh, I'm gonna be your wound

    Oh, I'm gonna bruise you

Oh, you're gonna be my bruise"

  • Matt Doyle <3

  • @ 11:15 why do they laugh? Fräulein Knüppeldick( just if u want to know: "Knüppel" = stick; billet . "dick"= fat; thick) and Herr Knochenbruc( "Knochenbruch"= bone fracture) are normal names^^

  • @leamusic4life

Wedekind (the author of the original play) chose that names to make fun of the teachers.

  • @NightmaresDaydream i know ;) but i think the names sound even more funny in your language ;D

  • @NightmaresDaydream okay that made no sense... you are German too?! ;D

  • @leamusic4life

Jes, I'm german.

  • @NightmaresDaydream ich find das Musical definitif besser! ;) ich bin beim Lesen nicht voran gekommen... ;D

  • love this. its dark and cynical, yet there is an innocence to it that is very touching. it should be mandatory for all high school students to read spring awakening, cuz there is a humanity to it that is not seen in alot of television, movies or even other musicals. that is why SPring Awakening is the best play and musical ever written.

  • Lea and Jon sound absolutely dreamy together.

  • 2 words. jenn damiano.

  • i am so obsessed with this music

  • 9.05 Johnathon Groff totes knows that he's being recorded ;)

  • the awkward moment when your gran asks you what you're watching and what it is about

  • Here i am watching Spring awakening for a 19th time when i should be working on the big ass art project that's due on Monday. I think i need help!!!!

  • Does anyone know if there are any plans for Spring Awakening to go back on broadway??

  • @Claheymusic There are not :(

  • Moritz is definitely the best character in this (not hating on the the other characters) and John Gallagher Jr. is the best Moritz. I wish this would come back to Broadway so I could go see it with the original cast.

  • MATT. (Everything I was thinking for the first three minutes went out the window when the camera got in close on Matt Doyle.)

  • i recognize so many of these guys from American Idiot the Musical! :)

  • @paige3406 whats american idoit the musical about? is it as good as spring awakening?

  • @TheAllthatjazzgal I haven't seen it, but a few of my friends have. I'm sure it's not as good as Spring Awakening, the concepts are totally different. If you are a Green Day fan then you'll appreciate and love it as much as my buddies did and as much as i know i would! And it'll definitely help to be familiar with the Rock Opera it's based on

  • @TheAllthatjazzgal I don't know whether it's better the stories are so different and AI is a rock opera, that being said I saw it live on Broadway and I LOVED it!

  • every single person in this cast has a flawelss voice. it's crazy.

  • Who plays Moritz in this? It's not JGJ, not Blake Bashoff, and it doesn't look like Gerard... Who is it? :)

  • I'm so glad you put this up!!! I've wanted to see it for soooo long, but didn't have any way to. It's amazing! It's 4:15 in the morning, but I want to finish it before I go to sleep :L

  • i love how she says knockenbroch. so german.

  • The lyrics are different here than on the soundtrack...

  • @jenamitoitoi The soundtrack was recorded before the show was picked up for Broadway. Up until the show actually went to Broadway, certain parts of it were subject to change, whether it be song lyrics or lines in the script. If you were to get sheet music for the songs, they would have the updated lyrics. The original Broadway cast soundtrack will always be the same though. The words for "Touch Me" are different in parts and so ar the words in "The Song Of Purple Summer".

  • Gideon, can you please sing me a ballad. <3

  • Who is the guy singing at 2:55? Matt Doyle?

  • @nicki446 Totally agree! As much as I love Brian Johnson, Matt Doyle's voice here is just pure and warm and smooth as butter.

  • Lea and Jon should sing "Word of your body" on glee..lol

  • Matt Doyle's voice is like velvet in Otto's little solo.

  • Why is Mel putting Mortiz hands all over Mortiz body?

  • I Swear I Heard Lea Laughing At 10:35

  • Why did Jon/Melchior change the words in Touch Me (at the beginning)?

  • Oh god I love "touch me" my favorite number :)

  • Is that Jonathan Groff? Woah!

  • @blueskittles97 Yes. Yes it is :)

  • Too bad there aren't any subs. Since it's really hard to hear what they say/sing about. I don't know if you've all got that problem, but it's extra hard since english is not my native language..

  • @bsus1412 what school would take 10th graders to see "Spring Awakening" ... it includes simulated masturbation, simulated sex, and nudity.

  • @tomomgamwithlove Because the kids in the show are about that age...it's nothing they haven't heard/seen/done before, believe me.

  • longest straight (sort-of) man hug ever.

  • God. I remember seeing this as part of my school trip to New York in 10th grade. This brings back so man memories. Thanks a lot for uploading it!

  • omg i freaking love "touch me" its one of my faves...

  • @TheLinakea They didn't incorporate that until she was of age.

  • @TheLinakea I believe when it got to Broadway she was 20 but she started doing the workshops when she was 14.

  • @TheLinakea Yes

  • Comment removed

  • gotta love how they all take out mics before the song. Casual talking *pulls out a mic* Casual singing... gotaa love it

  • Lea and Jonathan are so cute together!

  • @tashasearles that would be matt doyle!

  • I LOVE SKYLAR ASTIN! :)

Ahhh thank you so much for posting this.

I can't wait to see it live again in Chicago this Saturday... :D

  • Lea Michele should sing one of her songs on glee! That would be amazing!

  • @Bettyboopchick45 I totally agree! I have been saying this forever!

  • @Bettyboopchick45 She should definitely sing Touch Me

  • @Bettyboopchick45 I've been playing it out in my mind where Kurt and Blaine sing "The Word Of Your Body (Reprise)" for Kurt's first time. I'm so hoping that happens. Lea has already said that she doesn't like to sing any of her own songs from the show when she does stuff from Spring Awakening. That's why she sang "Touch Me" for her Cabaret events a lot. I'm thinking they will have other characters from the show do a Spring Awakening song... as long as they can get the rights.

  • who's the sick, sick person laughing when Martha says "We have rules in this house; your father will not be disobeyed." D: horrible being!

  • @siennamendez I didn't hear someone laughing during that, and if they did, then that is horrible, but when one of the girls says "My Uncle Klous says "If you don't discipline a child, you don't love it"." some people near laughed at the end, or kind of snorted I guess, but to be honest that is understandable. I mean come on, if you don't beat them, then you don't love them? That is odd.

  • @MissFueledByCoffee Yeah, I think I just imagined it. And, yeah, I actually find that kind of funny... I mean she's saying it at such the wrong time. I just wanna scream, "NOT HELPING, THEA."

  • Lea Michele's voice is just so effortlessly beautiful -- my goal is to sing that well as easily as she can.

  • Georg.. As always! :D

  • I am now in love with you for putting this up. I love this play! Its amazing and you did a great job! THANK YOU!!

  • @BideliaTrahern You're very welcome but I can't take all the credit cause I didn't record it.

  • @WendIaBergman but you put it up here so i am still in love with you xD

  • I know I've already thanked you for putting it up but thanks again!!! You're awesome :D

  • I noticed people sitting at the right side of the stage...Is that part of the audience??? I haven't seen that before....or maybe I'm a bit too new at this (only went to 4 musicals)

  • @colliezoya Yeah thats the audience :) They have some sitting on both sides of the stage :)

  • @ElphiexJasperxEmmett Oh ok...so it's like a first class seat or something?

  • @colliezoya You'd think so but I think I heard somewhere that they're the 'cheap' seats...I don't know for definite though sorry :(

  • @ElphiexJasperxEmmett It's very upclose so it'd be logical if it were the first class seats...though gladly it's not then....gives everyone a chance...Well IF it is so...thanks for your answer :)

  • @colliezoya yeah there are people sitting on the sides, and those seats are indeed cheaper because there would be times during the play that they are not able to see everything since the actors would not be facing them. but i imagine it would be thrilling to sit there since the actors also sit in that area.

  • @BBunny I was onstage when the tour came to my city and it was far and away the coolest thing freaking ever. It's sooooooooooooo worth the weird angle. At one point, one of the chorus members jumped OVER me, literally.

  • Gerard is so adorable. His Moritz dance was awesome.

  • Jenn Damiano is brilliant. I love her.

  • Who is singing at 2.54? He's got a freaking amazing voice. Did he play Melchior at some point? I slightly recognise him.

Btw, thank you so much for putting this up. I've just had a couple of auditions for this play at my local theatre company, and they're doing this. Just doing more of my 'homework' to see how it was done on Broadway. :D

  • @tashasearles I can't think of his name but I don't think he ever played Melchior. Jonathan Groff who did play Melchior was on Glee. Anw you're so lucky none of the theatres by me are doing this :(

  • @tashasearles That's Matt Doyle and he ended up playing Melchior on the national tour.

  • @rcgn90 He originally was a Chair of Rock person and understudied all the male parts except for Moritz and the Adult Man. Then in February 2008, he took replaced for Jonathan B. Wright as Hanchen and stayed with the show until it closed back in January 2009! When I saw the show, I saw him as Hancehen when he understudied the role! From there, I saw him in Bye Bye Birdie as Hugo and now he is back on Broadway in War Horse at Lincoln Center! Evereytime I meet him, he is soooo nice!!!

  • @tashasearles That's Matt Doyle! (: And yeh, he's been Melchior before. He was Melchior on tour in Toronto, and he was the understudy for Groff. Love his voice.

  • @tashasearles That's Matt Doyle. he was Hanschen at some point, and understudied Melchior. "Due to an unexpected situation on the tour" he agreed to take over as Melchior; so yes, he did play Melchior. He's absolutely amazing, one of my favourite Melchiors!

    Here; watch?v=6fH3p3z03Z0

  • @tashasearles His name is Matt Doyle, and he did play Melchior for a little bit :]

  • @tashasearles It's Matt Doyle! He's been in things like Bye Bye Birdie and is in War Horse, aaand he played Melchior in the tour :) (thank you wikipedia!)

  • @tashasearles His name is Matt Doyle. :) He's played multiple different parts in the show. I loooooooooooooove him.

  • @tashasearles His name is Matt Doyle. :) He has played multiple different parts in the show before. He did understudy for Melchior, so he got to play Melchior some number of times. I looooooooooooove him.

  • @tashasearles his names Matt Doyle. He played Melchoir in Toronto in the First National tour. He's pretty dang fantastic.

  • @tashasearles i think that's matt doyle, he played melchior for a small chunk of the tour. i think.

  • @tashasearles His name is Matt Doyle and he has played Melchior before actually. He was the understudy on Broadway and then also took the role of Melchior for a whole run in Toronto with the first National Tour.

  • is this off-broadway?

i´m from germany so i wasnt able to look it :(

so thank you very much!!!! :)

  • @Starlilo13 No this is on Broadway.
