I'm trying to understand this. If there was no mortgage and that the house was payed for, then what happened to the remainder of the equity? Is there no such thing as a reverse mortgage? Something is missing here.

The loan was not paid off by the investment group rather bought\ transfered to them. It would not matter if they held it or the state, the same thing would have happened

The taxpayer didn't make money off of the bailouts. The Federal deficit is insurmountably huge. There is no way that the balance is now "in the black." The USA is being looted. The price of gold was around $200/ounce in the year 2000 and now it is over $1200/ounce. Gold did not "go up," rather, it takes 6 TIMES as many dollars to buy the same ounce of gold, meanwhile, the official rate of inflation is only reported at 2.24% +/-. There are cheaters, and the cheated.

I'm trying to understand this. If there was no mortgage and that the house was payed for, then what happened to the remainder of the equity? Is there no such thing as a reverse mortgage? Something is missing here.
As a side note, I think that the Deputy Sheriff is sincerely concerned with what she has to do. If she didn't do this job, someone else would and they might not be as sympathetic. I am really sorry to see this happening.

"this was no loan or interest that she'd agreed to".... Which the "investment group" lobbied the city for her residentail property for her 362.00 utility bill and 388.00 in property taxes.... Eviction?... Now I could respect a utility company who took people to court first... I can respect the lobbied CITY officials though....

@HiRoader11 Did this lady get 300 dollars worth of water service? Clearly she did. She was given the water prior to paying for it, hence the loan. The city attempted to get payment for this loan but could not get it so they sold ie transfered the loan to another entity to collect the monies owed.
The loan was not paid off by the investment group rather bought\ transfered to them. It would not matter if they held it or the state, the same thing would have happened

This isn't about the principal, the reason her house was taken was not because of the 362 dollars it was up close to 4 grand by the time they confiscated her property. The taxpayer didn't make money off of the bailouts. The Federal deficit is insurmountably huge. There is no way that the balance is now "in the black." The USA is being looted. The price of gold was around $200/ounce in the year 2000 and now it is over $1200/ounce. Gold did not "go up," rather, it takes 6 TIMES as many dollars to buy the same ounce of gold, meanwhile, the official rate of inflation is only reported at 2.24% +/-. There are cheaters, and the cheated.

This is probably happening after a study done showed that they city looses tons of money from this population in the long run not paying their bills, not a temporary thing. You might say ' oh thats horrible ' but at the same time, the city going into debt is the people going into debt and is exactly what everyone is trying to avoid. This policy isnt one that just happens to be in place, its in place for a reason.

This is called propaganda. I'm sure this woman was given dozens of opportunities to pay her waterbill in a resonable manner with a payment plan or the such. I'm sure she was sent dozens of letters explaining to her what would happen if she did not pay. I'm sure she still had cable tv and a cell phone. Fact is she chose not to pay because she did not want to stay. The video started with her saying how bad the neighborhood has gotten. She made a choice and suffered the consequences.
