Why can't you guys just respect the fact that these are to nice diesel trucks making a lot of power. How does saying the Chevy is a smaller truck have anything to do with it being faster? These are big diesel trucks racing, not little Hondas. What's a few extra hundred pounds when your truck is pushing at least 1200 ft lbs of torque? It's not a 2 second difference that's for sure

who the eff cares who made duramax (even though gm makes all of them now), its proven to be an outstanding motor and wins many awards. also must i say 2011 has class leader power(almost 100 more hp then cummins). cummins are cheaper to make go fast, thus why we see so many on the track. i am a gm guy, but a fast cummins like mike drevers (drever family racing) sure catches my eye. there both great trucks, its all about preference. so enough argueing kids cause there will never be a true winner.
@7150258 dont forget GM had several hundreds of millions of dollars invested in Isuzu and owned 40% of Isuzu when they designed it as a joint venture. GM now owns 100% of DMAX and has built every single one in America.

@dexter2433 First of all I like all trucks, mostly diesel trucks. Dodge does not have the best train or the most power. The 2009 GMC sierra came with a 350 BHP 660 lb-ft torque turbo diesel engine and a 6 spd Allison transmission. The Allison is known for its durability as a transmission and the Duramax has the most power out of all the diesel engines for the last 10 years. However I am not indicating its the best diesel engine. Im just stating that your fact is not a fact.
I had the pleasure the other day to ride in a durmax that runs 13s at norwalk raceway. That thing is all balls. The truck had EFI live, water injection, aftermarket fuel pump and some other thing that are way above me. The guy uses it for pulling and drag racing. Just touch the pedal and the diesel smoke just pours out. That was one hell of a fun ride :)
This is great, I love that black smoke when you get the injector pump set up right! lol!
Duramax Chevies may be a little faster than my 5.9 Cummins, lots of my friends run them, but I'll take the engine longevity that came stock with my Cummins, now if I only had an Allison tranny.

My duramax runs 12's all day long and its completly stock engine with tuning and an extra turbo. My buddys i built him ha a turbo, injectors,fire ring and a host of other parts. We both make 50PSi boost and I eat him for lucnh
A tuner and an extra turbo is not exactly a minor modification to the Dmax. The only reason your buddies dodge is not eating your Chevy for breakfast is he probably does not have the trans set up properly.' There is a reason serious pulling and drag trucks don't run the Dmax or PS. The lower ends on these motors simply cannot handle the power without major up grades, were the Cummins can.

MY "buddys truck" I Built it has a suncoast full billet trans of wich i am an autherized dealler. And you are 100 % wrong on what a cummins can take as far as power befor internal mods Duramaxs and cummins cant handle more than 600 HP without internal work. And the seriouse pullers ? they dont use the cummins either they use Turbin engines and allisons or lots of big block chevys.

who the eff cares who made duramax (even though gm makes all of them now), its proven to be an outstanding motor and wins many awards. also must i say 2011 has class leader power(almost 100 more hp then cummins). cummins are cheaper to make go fast, thus why we see so many on the track. i am a gm guy, but a fast cummins like mike drevers (drever family racing) sure catches my eye. there both great trucks, its all about preference. so enough argueing kids cause there will never be a true winner.

@dexter2433 First of all I like all trucks, mostly diesel trucks. Dodge does not have the best train or the most power. The 2009 GMC sierra came with a 350 BHP 660 lb-ft torque turbo diesel engine and a 6 spd Allison transmission. The Allison is known for its durability as a transmission and the Duramax has the most power out of all the diesel engines for the last 10 years. However I am not indicating its the best diesel engine. Im just stating that your fact is not a fact.

And Ford currently has the best Auto drive train out there, it's more reliable than the Allison even.

I had the pleasure the other day to ride in a durmax that runs 13s at norwalk raceway. That thing is all balls. The truck had EFI live, water injection, aftermarket fuel pump and some other thing that are way above me. The guy uses it for pulling and drag racing. Just touch the pedal and the diesel smoke just pours out. That was one hell of a fun ride :)

Hmm you say that chev has a lot of money in it to run 12's ? you've lost your marbles a STOCK duramax with a tune WILL run 12's I have personally built both and it cost WAY more coin to play with dodges. My duramax runs 12's all day long and its completly stock engine with tuning and an extra turbo. My buddys i built him ha a turbo, injectors,fire ring and a host of other parts. We both make 50PSi boost and I eat him for lucnh

A tuner and an extra turbo is not exactly a minor modification to the Dmax. The only reason your buddies dodge is not eating your Chevy for breakfast is he probably does not have the trans set up properly.' There is a reason serious pulling and drag trucks don't run the Dmax or PS. The lower ends on these motors simply cannot handle the power without major up grades, were the Cummins can.

MY "buddys truck" I Built it has a suncoast full billet trans of wich i am an autherized dealler. And you are 100 % wrong on what a cummins can take as far as power befor internal mods Duramaxs and cummins cant handle more than 600 HP without internal work. And the seriouse pullers ? they dont use the cummins either they use Turbin engines and allisons or lots of big block chevys.

@dougthewelder And I was reffering to actual full bodyd STOCK turboed STOCK internald duramaxs run 12's ALL day long with ONLY a Repropgramed ECM. U CANT do that with ANY cummins =) you need a turbo, injectors, head studs and fire ring over what a duramax needs

you might want to go look up the LONG list of 12 secong Dmaxes on Duramaxdiesels and they arent moded anywhere near what it dtakes a dodge or Furdd. My Duramax blazer runs 12's as well
