ya parked to close to the car..great if ya wanna lose the paintwork on the oic side of the pump been a fireman for 27yrs and theres no need to park ya pump that close ..
@HMSDaring1. Um...... no. That car was very well alight. No hand held extinguisher would make any difference. The only thing it would do is endanger whomever tried to use it. Exploding tyres can kill.
appliance to close 2 vehicle been a firefighter for 26yrs no need to cordon off that close unless they wanna strip the paintwork off on the oic side..
I don't think anyone was hurt, someone, presumably the driver was talking to the fire service when I drove past. I couldn't believe the people turning in the road and getting in the way of the fire service...
typical uk impatience fire engin coming up the road oh i know say's the person in the silver car ill do a u turn ,high respect for all uk and fire fighters difficult job and very skilled thanks for being there when needed
well said madnickb!!! after all he/she in silver car did'nt know the severity of the situation, i.e. if there was anyone in that car that was on fire, an still they had to mount the pavement to let the fire service past! **** *****!!!!!
Majority of UK appliances carry 1800 litres of water on board, 1600 litres if they carry a 200 litre foam tank. The line is being laid out to suppliment the on board tank from the hydrant, so firefighting can continue, and the appliance is ready for re-deployment straight from the scene. Sorted.
Its about time all car's should be fitted with a First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguisher as all our ambulance carry 2 Fire Extinguishers and many a time we have stopped at car fires to put the fire out and that Bus which was in the movie would have had at least 2 Large Exinguishers on board or maybe the driver has not been trained in there use!!
Just Food For Thought!!
PS: All the staff at this Ambulance Station are trained in their use.
Most fire engines don't carry any water, they are essentially just a big pump that boosts the mains supply from a hydrant. Forestry and dedicated tankers have their own supply but aren't very common in cities.
I figured that the UK engines must differ somehow. Because I think in the US they don't have to lay lines for car fires often. US engines usually carry 500-750 gallons of water.
most UK appliances carry around 400 gallons of water - this appliance may not have had a full tank of water, or they may have felt they needed to boost the supply
just too add to the convo its probly more convinent in filling up the tank ready for the next shout in stead of driving back to the station and getting the kit out again to fill up the tank????
we carry about 1300 litres of water on this type of pump some carry more. It is our policy to keep a full tank of water if possible so we are "available" from the job
They'd get there even quicker if it wasn't for total idiots making 3-point turns because my god it's the end of the world being sat in the traffic queue, at an incident where it's obvious the fire service are going to be attending!
The silver Fiesta driver sits behind the bus for ages before deciding to turn round as the fire appliance is clearly approaching, and then gets RIGHT in its way!

All buses have fire extinguishers, surely they could have used that to extinguish the fire! Isn't that the most sensible thing to do?
HMSDaring1 1 year ago
@HMSDaring1 Why? Wheres the life risk? Leave it to burn.
jimmyd7009 10 months ago
@jimmyd7009 Yeah, I suppose that is the more sensible option, there is the risk that the car explodes if the fire reaches the fuel tanks,

Are they laying a line for a car fire??
IDK maybe UK fire trucks can't carry as much water as US ones.
