If you guys don't understand something, you should try looking it up. ummm of the top of my head I've used vitalguitar(dot)com (stupid youtube won't let me post the link) - the guy explains the basics really well and responds to questions quickly too.
-sigh- ppl there is a reason that a pick is plasic. using coins will wear down your strings quicker, can scratch ur nicely polished guitar, and is harder to hold onto. DUH.
You are awesome! thanks so much for this - I have ***never*** played guitar before and just got one and this really taught me the strings and all that stuff ... al though I am still really frustrated with it haha i can't get the hang of it lol
I have just started looking at this lesson and was a little confused with the first chord demonstration, until I went back to the beginning and realized that you are left handed! Might be an idea just to mention this. I like your style of teaching.

@Ziomek12355, Mate im a guitar teacher... this is very advanced and he doesnt even explain how to tune, other than make them soun the same..... lol. go to marty
My Dad bought me a guitar years ago and my hands weren't large enough to play. I can play the piano and stretch my hands, but I am having a hard time stretching my fingers to 4 different frets. I especially can hardly reach my pink to the higher strings. I"m assuming my fingers will get used to stretching like they did when i learned piano?
You got to love youtube for learning guitar. Such an Amazing resource. Im using it as the foundation for a great new beginner guitar course. Would love to have your feedback on it!
I have been looking for beginners lessons for a friend of mine as I am a terrible teacher and I have to say this is great. The only thing missing I think is how to hold the plectrum. I know it sounds stupid, but a beginner is a beginner. Great work
cheers for the upload. I'm buying a guitar on monday. I'm a bass player but I really wanna learn guitar too cos I'm a bit bored of playing the bass at the moment.
I've been playing for a year and kno a few basic chords and a couple of songs so should I just keep learning songs???? BTW thats copied from guitar101[dot]tk
@tsyx163 I have been playing guitar for about 10yrs off and on,3years seriously, and I can say get it right SLOW and you will be able to easily transition to different chords and shapes . Also I recommend playing along to simple songs it will help you get used to the chords you are learning. Like "about a girl" "Polly" "Californication" Learning chords was challenge for me at first too.I know all the Major chords I haven't learned minor chords yet..Because I'm more into distorted power chords
i have a question...i am a beginner and just started guitar and am barely learning the first major chords c, a, g, e, and, d. My fingers are killing me right now but i know i will get used to it...but i've been practicing for a week now and i still take a long time changing into each chord. Its so frustrating! How long will it take me to finally be able to change fastly inbetween chords so i can move on to minor chords?

@danabeatles here is a trick that helped me and that I teach people alot that helps. Strum a chord four times, then take your left hand off the fretboard and shake it for 5-10 seconds and play the chord 4 times again. Once you can lock into that chord perfectly, move to the next, and once you can do 2 chords try changinging between them without shaking your hand. Let me know if it helps!

How hard should I be pushing on the chords? Should it be hellishly painful or just mildly painful?Or both? not in that order.
