it says everything about this song as you see the audience as the camera pans around to them !! they dont know there being filmed but they r away with the music !! great song from one of the truly greatest bands ever !!
Country feedback and E-bow the letter are the songs that have touched me the most! Actually most of REM songs gave me a feeling that I haven't felt with any other band! A sweet sadness, every word is full of emotion and it travels me to magical places every time I hear it! There won't be any band like them in this world! REM, THE BAND WHO SAVED THE AMERICAN MUSIC!
fucking my favorite song too, and its fucking about me even if he wont actually admit it to my face amn listening to it in the steror at home and sobbing the frist thought i had was " fucking no more countryt feedback" hot night, wanted it crazy what she could have had.
Love this song. Listen to this version and the Unplugged one over and over. Love the little additions on both: this one with a verse from Chorus and the Ring, and a piece of Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone on the Unplugged one.
I saw them the night before in Dublin. It was feckin' awesome!!! Perfect Square has been the perfect souvenier ever since as it's so close to what I experienced myself the night before!
Those words especially "These clothes don't fit us right...and I'm to blame" makes me cry....so sad....but I bet it's not totally deserved, it takes at least two to make a relationship.
What a kick ass song I fkn love it something in the music and the words I just get lost in a past friend turned me on to REM I must say this is my fav song by them thanks 4 the great song maby some day I will get to see them live
you simply must. The concert I saw was unbelievable. Really funny though, 95% of the people there only knew the words to losing my religion... lol. When they played ignoreland, I was all over it (that is one of my favorite songs)
been playing guitar for 8 yrs...this was my first song ever...for any guitarists reading this, this song is sooooo sweet and easy......standard tuning......no capo.....Em G D C G D Cmaj7...repeat thru the whole song....it is in 2/2 time.......peace.....Brian
É pá... parece-me pouco provavel que eles actuem em Arouca. Mas, envia uns emails e tal.. Who Knows boy?! Caso contrário, apanha o (TCV) vouguinha e parte á aventura...
What a beautiful song and performance! To this day this song still gives me chills, and Peter's solo is great as well. It's fantastic to hear that they are playing this song still on the (soon to be over)current tour.
Wow this just bites me, if you heared this you gonna like REM more and more. Brilliant modest and beautiful solo from Peter Buck here. And The voice of Michael Stipe wow. shiffers
Now i'm sure: there s something to live for in this bitter-sweet world. in this crazy world what you couldn't have. Thanks again Mr Stipe and R.E.M., greatest band ever.
DocTeeBee, you took the words from my mouth. I had the tape of Out of Time too, since 1991, and yes, the 2nd side was unbelievable, always in my walkman. Not that side 1 was bad, but the songs from the 2nd are mesmerizing, timeless pieces of art beggining with Shiny Happy People! Props man!
That makes me think about everything...it's crazy what you could've had? oh thank you REM! It was such a emotional moment hearing it in Dresden in July.
I'm so glad you did. I bought Out of Time in my first year of graduate school, 1991. This was my favorite song on the album, and my favorite R.E.M. song. The whole "second side" (if you remember tapes) of this album is truly amazing.
it's crazy what you could have had...what we could have had? maybe we've lost a lot, but when i listen to this tune everything seems to be so beatiful (despite being not sometimes) thats why i like R.E.M. so much
great job
btw: i am gonna see them in Prague this sunday and i hope they will play this

I think Micheal is the sexiest man alive!! His voice commands my spirit when he sings this song!! The whole band is a gift that I am grateful for. Thanks so much to the band for being around as long as you have!
and you know I hear this song, and it stirs such emotion in me. I have no emotive connection with what has inspired the song, but Stipe finds in me the deepest sorrow... and I hardly study the words or 'his friend' or any of that. This song is simply amazing. So clever....

Actually, khyew79 is correct. He's speaking of the oration at the beginning, which is not on the album version and IS, indeed, from The 'Chorus and The Ring' from Reveal (second verse, I believe). Go check the lyrics, dear...and learn what you're talking about before insulting someone else as an R.E.M. fan. :-) Those who think they know everything are a great nuisance to those of us who do.
Reveal was okay...and he's right, the first few lines Michael Stipe says are from Chorus and the Ring, which is the second best song on Reveal. Fails only to Imitation of Life. And this is one rare time where I can say the first single was the best on the album, because Imitation of Life was amazing.
Pfft, I can't listen to I've Been High without my finger twitching. I'll Take The Rain is definitely not the best song on Reveal. Chorus and the Ring is probably the most brilliant song ever to touch on evolution and animal instincts. It's amazing.
