  • This song has save my live so often ....Thank you guys

  • Best gutair solo ever! It may not be the hardest solo to play ever but Peter puts so much emotion into it.

  • Country feedback and E-bow the letter are the songs that have touched me the most! Actually most of REM songs gave me a feeling that I haven't felt with any other band! A sweet sadness, every word is full of emotion and it travels me to magical places every time I hear it! There won't be any band like them in this world! REM, THE BAND WHO SAVED THE AMERICAN MUSIC!

  • forget shredding forget tapping that is simply the greatest solo ever so much emotion

  • fucking my favorite song too, and its fucking about me even if he wont actually admit it to my face amn listening to it in the steror at home and sobbing the frist thought i had was " fucking no more countryt feedback" hot night, wanted it crazy what she could have had.

  • Both my and Michael Stipe's favourite REM song. Close your eyes and the solo could be Neil Young.

  • @Scotlanz You are so right about the Neil Young. Great derivative.

  • i fucking love the solo. I thank R.E.M. for all the music they've made.

  • R.E.M. brought me here. Thank you for all

  • Thank you R.E.M. for 31 years of amazing music, you will be missed!

  • Best R.E.M song ever!

  • 1:19 what a girl doing her thing.

  • I'm watching this video and all I'm thinking about is my beautiful girlfriend.

  • i saw the dvd today with my dad and it was great! :)

  • Love this song. Listen to this version and the Unplugged one over and over. Love the little additions on both: this one with a verse from Chorus and the Ring, and a piece of Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone on the Unplugged one.

  • I saw them the night before in Dublin. It was feckin' awesome!!! Perfect Square has been the perfect souvenier ever since as it's so close to what I experienced myself the night before!

  • I have this live video. It's great. I have one major complaint though, I hate the audience shots......seriously.

  • i love this song.

i love to close my eyes and get lost in the solo..

    its awesome!

  • Those words especially "These clothes don't fit us right...and I'm to blame" makes me cry....so sad....but I bet it's not totally deserved, it takes at least two to make a relationship.

  • guitar solo seemed Maggot Brain-esque... A great song.

  • Such beautiful music! Listening to R.E.M's songs makes me really happy.

Btw, always thought that Stipe sings: "I lost my hair. I need this. I need this..." Thanks for the vid, and the lyric too.

  • I agree

  • Great song by a great band

  • one of the most amazing bands all over the world...!Do you agree??for my are the best...!

  • Beyond sublime.

  • amazing, wonderful! I wish i could see them live soon!

  • É pá... parece-me pouco provavel que eles actuem em Arouca. Mas, envia uns emails e tal.. Who Knows boy?! Caso contrário, apanha o (TCV) vouguinha e parte á aventura...

  • buenisima!

  • What a beautiful song and performance! To this day this song still gives me chills, and Peter's solo is great as well. It's fantastic to hear that they are playing this song still on the (soon to be over)current tour.

  • I'm with ya man. A rock band poetic. Country Feedback is unmatched.

  • me and my bud did this song live once....it is the first song i learned on guitar..i love it.......B

  • I need this.

    absolutely.

  • This song is so great, REM is great

There will never be a band like they again

  • straziante... non aggiungerei altro

  • this is a song that is undeniably beautiful and brilliant but

it hits me so hard that I can only listen to this once or twice a year

    heart-wrenching?

    you have no idea...

  • Perfection!

  • Wow this just bites me, if you heared this you gonna like REM more and more. Brilliant modest and beautiful solo from Peter Buck here. And The voice of Michael Stipe wow. shiffers

  • 快速转动眼球

  • HJ Crazy what you could have had

  • ALW Could still - WE need this..............

  • Yes,REM was so great on this concert!

  • Stunning.

  • Now i'm sure: there s something to live for in this bitter-sweet world. in this crazy world what you couldn't have. Thanks again Mr Stipe and R.E.M., greatest band ever.

  • I was at this concert ,they were great!

  • were you there!!?? you're so lucky

  • I'll never forget seeing this on the DVD when i was 14... It was amazing!!! My first proper emotional moment with R.E.M.

    Peter buck is god!

  • That was brilliant. Buck pulls out the solo.

  • Oh, yeah, sorry. I get them confused a lot.

Is that unibrow supposed to pay tribute to Bill Berry?

  • One of the songs that blows your head.... this lyric, Michael and the music all together is a real gift!!

  • Makes me cry too... ='(

  • My favourite R.E.M song.....This song makes me cry......So fucking awesome

  • Super cool music, but I can't think like REM's best cause REM is not a ballad,a romantic band. Radio Free Europe is the best, indeed.

  • incredibe song - just perfect.

  • Such a good song. :D Brilliant performance

  • Its simple: If you don't love this, you have no hearing!

  • this is my favorite R.E.M. song

  • DocTeeBee, you took the words from my mouth. I had the tape of Out of Time too, since 1991, and yes, the 2nd side was unbelievable, always in my walkman. Not that side 1 was bad, but the songs from the 2nd are mesmerizing, timeless pieces of art beggining with Shiny Happy People! Props man!

  • I'm so glad they played this when i went to Cardiff. When they began i was like, "what?! Seriously?! These guys are awesomer now!"

  • these clothes don't fit us right

    I AM TO BLAME

    it's all the same.......

crazy what you (i) could have had..........

  • One of my favourites too and was lucky enough to hear it live a couple of days ago at Twickenham. Was absolutely fantastic as was the whole concert.

  • This is my best friends favorite two too...

Peter, your the real deal! Thanks guys We love U.

  • That makes me think about everything...it's crazy what you could've had? oh thank you REM! It was such a emotional moment hearing it in Dresden in July.

  • great

  • three years ago I knew REM because of an coincidence, and then it became my favourite band, for its unbelievable fascination.

  • Fantastic, truly fantastic song. Can't believe I only 'discovered' it just now.

    Love it!<3

  • I'm so glad you did. I bought Out of Time in my first year of graduate school, 1991. This was my favorite song on the album, and my favorite R.E.M. song. The whole "second side" (if you remember tapes) of this album is truly amazing.

  • Is that unibrow on Stipe supposed to pay tribute to Mike Mills or something?

  • think you mean bill berry

  • Emotional, revealing, perfect.

Three words I feel perfectly describe this performance.

  • shiver is the right word to describe this spectacular song..

i have to agree .. this is probably the most amazing performance ever made

  • "Probably the best and most emotionally involved performance of any one song i've ever heard."

    i agree.

  • it's crazy what you could have had...what we could have had? maybe we've lost a lot, but when i listen to this tune everything seems to be so beatiful (despite being not sometimes) thats why i like R.E.M. so much

    great job

btw: i am gonna see them in Prague this sunday and i hope they will play this

  • the most beautiful thing that i've ever seen in this f_cking sad world

  • emotional

  • this story again... go watching steve vai's crap---

  • whoever gave me bad feedback is a reTard. ridiculas as in fucking mint you thick fucks

  • lol @ the idiots not understanding what you meant by that

  • learn to spell the words you wrote down, and obviously a lot of other words, dork

  • Wow, as I suspected, your a dumbass for real!

  • one of the best rem tunes.love it

  • wow...what a great concert it was.

  • REM at their very best: slow, melodic, haunting brilliant lyrics

  • crazy ...crazy goosebumps

  • Just the best version ever Perfect Square Germany 2003

  • oh my god.

  • This makes my heart ache. Not many things in life are as beautiful as this.

  • thank you as always michael...

  • Hey Stipey, it's my fav too! This is probably my favorite version also, anyone agree?

  • 2nd that, that was probably the best performance of R.E.M. ever

  • God, I watch this every day it seems. Amazing.

  • touched by God

  • I think Micheal is the sexiest man alive!! His voice commands my spirit when he sings this song!! The whole band is a gift that I am grateful for. Thanks so much to the band for being around as long as you have!

  • I agree 100%

  • Does anyone knows where can i download this version?(not as video but as mp3)thanks!this is my F.A.V.O.R.I.T.E. song!thank you rem!

  • its on Disc 2 on In time :)

  • number one video.

  • simply beyond words.

  • GENIUS!!

  • God exists

  • These Guys are great live...

i have the dvd and its just awesome!

  • aaah, super! thanks! :)

  • my favourite song!!! it's so great, incredible!

could anybody write, what he says before starting to sing? Thanks!

  • Click 'more info' on the right-hand side

  • The words Michael says are actually lyrics from their song "Chorus and the Ring" from the 2001 album Reveal.

  • Beautiful song

  • and you know I hear this song, and it stirs such emotion in me. I have no emotive connection with what has inspired the song, but Stipe finds in me the deepest sorrow... and I hardly study the words or 'his friend' or any of that. This song is simply amazing. So clever....

  • Probably the BEST song of R.E.M. live.....

    I like this stuff....

One of the best live show..........

  • Thanks very much for uploading, I love this song and the performance is very good.

  • Probably the best and most emotionally involved performance of any one song i've ever heard.

  • The lyrics ARENT from the reveal album, its country feed back from the 'out of time album'.. (you are not an rem fan)).. you need to go get yer shit straight and listen to the old/ good stuff...

  • Did i ever mention i'm writing down 'the Country Feedback lyrics'?

The intro of this live version is opens with lyrics from "Chorus and the Ring" followed by Stipe's own additions of "instinct, gut, feeling, feelings"

I am write down what he's singing bro.

If u like the original version more, is good, and you just go listen to it.

  • Yup, I'm not a 'real' R.E.M. fan, but i like this song very much. I know u are a 'real' R.E.M. fan, but if you cant appreciate what the great job they've done to this live version, is too bad.

  • Actually, khyew79 is correct. He's speaking of the oration at the beginning, which is not on the album version and IS, indeed, from The 'Chorus and The Ring' from Reveal (second verse, I believe). Go check the lyrics, dear...and learn what you're talking about before insulting someone else as an R.E.M. fan. :-) Those who think they know everything are a great nuisance to those of us who do.

  • Reveal was okay...and he's right, the first few lines Michael Stipe says are from Chorus and the Ring, which is the second best song on Reveal. Fails only to Imitation of Life. And this is one rare time where I can say the first single was the best on the album, because Imitation of Life was amazing.

  • reveal is not just okay! plus, chorus and the ring doesnt hold a candle to i've been high AND ill take the rain

  • Pfft, I can't listen to I've Been High without my finger twitching. I'll Take The Rain is definitely not the best song on Reveal. Chorus and the Ring is probably the most brilliant song ever to touch on evolution and animal instincts. It's amazing.

  • true, it is an amazing song but I agree with what Michael Stipe says about I've been high. The thing with the whole of "Reveal" is that it takes several listens to really get it.

  • Michael Stipe!

  • When some things work, they really really work. REM are that great grouping of playera and unique singer. Probably the greatest American band ever.

  • Who cares what great guitar. REM best band ever.

  • What is he reading before he starts singing?

  • Tis lyrics from a song on their Reveal album.

  • click on more info at the top right of this page it has the lyrics.

  • A cool song and in this version its one of my favorites. The end by Peter is so great.

  • the first 4 verses is the chorus of R.E.M.'s song "Chorus and ring"

  • it should be. but who knows? i am not good at american english. and this part of song is not on cd

  • Instead of this lyric:

It's the wolf that knows which route to dig to save itself

    Shouldn't it read?:

It's the wolf that knows which root to dig to eat to save itself

  • yes.

  • It's Michael Stipe... He can do whatver he likes with his words, they're still beautiful.

  • everytime i see this video, i love R.E.M. even more... best alt. rock band ever, hands down, respect.

  • The album should have ended with a solo like that. That's the one of the best things about the live version.

  • This is my favorite song ever and the live version just makes it so much better!

  • It´s such a perfect song of love and life and no one could ever say it in better words

  • he sings soo nice on 4;05 and the solo.. omg best solo in the world.. or really comming close to it..

  • they got so much beautiful songs but if the most beautiful was 100 % this is 300 %. this is soooo beautiful.. but i can't find guitar pro tabs to play it on guitar.. if any one can make it for me.. :D

  • I was central... I had control

  • You come to me with excuses

    You wear me out

    YOU wear me out!

  • ...Crazy, all the lovers have been tagged

    A hotline, a wanted ad...

  • I forgot, you are a GOD when it comes to lyrics....

  • thunpa are you hungarian?

  • Where can i download an mp3 of this?

  • I have one.
