Sitting in a chair is actually very easy in a hoop, you just sit and guide the hoops down with your hands. I worked for me. =D

you have to pull the hoops up when you sit on a chair, pull them up in back and let them rest on the chair behind you. The petticoat and the corset were lovely, very nice outfit.

To sit you have to hook the bottom hoop (on the backside)with your foot and pull it under.

It is very pretty. i have used a black one before. Sitting down is really hard. You have to sit on the very end of the chair and tuck it behind the chair. it's hard!

I could me mislead but in Britain we call those crinolines (it could be the case that you call it a petticoat in the USA- I don't know.) A friend of mine wore something similar and called it a crinoline. It's just something that I noticed, and no hard feeling.

My understanding is that to sit in a hoop skirt such as the one you have, you must first use your hands to pull the back of your skirt by running your fingers from belt line to bottom of buttox as you sit, and then literally 'perch' yourself on the very edge of a seat.

This is how I was shown to sit in a petticoat with hoops. Reach one hand behind you at the bottom of your bum, lift the hoop(s) half way to your waist and slide back on to a bench or armless chair. The hoops won't pop up like a tunnel, they will lay against your thighs for a nice, smooth look. I hope it helps! Enjoy your new petticoat!

the hoop or petticoat is supposed to be worn over the corset if it's that style corset. a shorter waist corset can be under, or with a bum roll this'd work. btw if you're near MA you should come visit me at King Richard's Faire. i love having other corsettiers come to visit

To sit down in hoops... a bench is best because chairs that have arms come in the way. You don't want to lift up your skirt & pettis to sit down but instead you just sort of scoot down and back. I just sit on top of it all at a bit of an angle.
