Be sure to keep the blow by gases in check (keep the EGR valve). Also, keep in mind that a few thousand's out of spec, won't do that much if you don't clean the carbon after that valves (carbon buildup). Also, I've actually don't something like this before, and NEVER torque those caps back on without a torque gauge. I ruined a head like that. Also, I can't remember, but I think that the chain itself has timing indicators on it (can't remember).

Also, I think that black plate on the lid is a 'slap' plate for the chain.
