I saw "Festival Express" a few years back when the movie was finally released. Sylvia Tyson's, hot-as-balls rendition of "C.C. Ryder" at the end was alone worth the price of admission! So glad to have finally found it on YouTube. It's a bummer that the venture couldn't make money and was never repeated. Watching these great performers artistically cross-pollinate (while drunk off their asses) was absolutely priceless.
wow..she can really sing..I never heard her until I rented this video from Blockbuster...I think of having a big Festival Express party! just lots of fun and plenty of booze! no pot for me...it interferes with my video games....
Sylvia Tyson's warbling is fantastic! It's my favorite version of the sinister folk song (re: Nirvana's 1992 unplugged version of "In the Pines"). You can tell from the expressions on the faces of Jerry Garcia and Neil Young that they know they're participating in something historic.
It's a great video but I think it would be better if the whole song was on there, beginning with Sylvia Tyson's opening interview and her closing interview. Because they still played a little bit to the ending drum crash and this video ends kind of abruptly.
I love jerry's big smile towards the end when they start the real jam

Is that Edgar Winter on the keyboard?
And just who is the gap-toothed inbred on drums?
