What could possibly make you sick about healthy food? I think it makes a very good point that, just because he is the Cookie Monster dose not mean that he can only eat cookies! Very similar to saying that just because Popeye is Popeye does not mean that he can only eat spinach!

I personally think the Veggie Monster thing was started because our current First Lady has a thing about getting kids to eat healthy. Not that I disagree. But there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. And our First Lady's thing is overkill. This show's that Cookie Monster knows the meaning of the term "Balanced Diet".

This is the reason why I wasn't so surprised like everyone else when I found out Cookie was going to be seen eating a more balanced diet alongside his namesake food of choice. Because I saw this as a child, I knew Cookie wasn't a picky eater, yet everyone else thinks it's a new idea for the so-called "Elmo Show". What the heck ever happened to rational thinking??

This does beat the heck out of "A Cookie Is a Sometimes Food", partly because Cookie Monster himself admits to liking healthy foods *in addition to* cookies...the newer song has Hoots and singing food preaching that Cookie should (usually) *avoid* cookies in favor of fruits. He doesn't claim that one kind of food is OK to eat "any time" in this one, either...overdosing on fruits and vegetables can make kids sick too, and the songwriters understood it this time.

The thing of it is though, if you've actually seen the 2005 sketch, Cookies are a Sometime Food, you see him eating fruits and veggies for about five seconds (which is enough torture already). Yet here, he doesn't take a bite out of any of the fruits and veggies. He just throws them around and uses them for aerobics XD

Cookie Monster was always about eating everything. Cookies, Fruits, vegetables... trucks, foam rubber letters, on one occasion he tried to eat Guy Smiley... I still believe the "Veggie Monster" rumor was made by Sesame Workshop for free publicity for the show.

Jankster: The Muppet with AIDs thing is true though. Her name is Kami. She was made to help African children deal with AIDs, since that is an epedemic in Africa. In America, since obesity is a growing problem, the Street's using Cookie to show kids that you must take things in moderation. It's okay to eat cookies, but you must eat other healthy foods, too.
