Of all grady martins sounds this has to be the greatest and I luv it. My dear brother (who has since passed away) modelled his own sounds on his guitar when he played gigs awesome. thanks koolkat57 keep it coming
On the other hand, I choose to believe that Grady Martin may be playing lead guitar on the Ted Mack "Hound Dog" TV clip - perhaps standing behind the curtain, while Mr Burlison mimes the guitar solo - as the picking on that is a bit crap...LOL!!!!
In spite of all the evidence to the contrary, I think I will choose to believe that it is Paul Burlison playing lead guitar on this Grady Martin record. Grady may be playing rhythm guitar on it, but the lead guitar just has to be Mr Burlison. I also choose to believe that Mr Burlison played lead on all those classic rockabilly tracks by Brenda Lee, Don Woody, Roy Hall, Wayne Walker, etc. because they sound exactly the same as his playing on the later Burnette Trio recordings ;-O
Yes, listen and one can hear the sound and licks he used on the Rock and Roll Trio's big hits recorded in Nashville. As articles (and Net info) relate, in those sessions it was house rules to use studio musicians who knew how to work together. Sorry, but it wasn't anyone else, loose amp tube or not. Thank you Mr M for helping usher in rock and roll guitar!
Does anyone have the Decca 45 with the song "The Birth of The Blues"?
