@prettygraffiti Thanks! Any tips for this piece? My drama group is really freaking out because it's the first serious play that we've done in the past 6 years. I really want to throw in a part of me bursting out crying, but would that be too much? I think that speaker 1 would seem to have a crying scene, but otherwise the other speakers wouldn't really have crying scenes. Or many just no crying at all. I'm not sure.
@MooMooCow95@MooMooCow95 Well, I played Speaker #1, but that was a while ago. I would tell you to not go into any drama wanting to cry, because it will just make it that much harder to. You have to find something inside of Speaker #2 that will make all the real Speaker #2s in the audience recognize themselves in her (or him, I suppose.) Find a few people to model your character off of, and don't be afraid to semi- impersonate them in a realistic way, at least for auditions....
....Once you get the part you can go deeper and create a new, complex person. Just go for the realism. Think details and lots of face gestures. Don't be afraid to let your character be uncomfortable. =] If you really want to have a meltdown, just make sure it's gradual. Voice cracks and all that jazz a while before the cry will make it realistic.
@prettygraffiti Well, thanks for all the help and everything, but they wanted this play to be a upper-classmen-only play. Which I thought was really dumb because most of the freshmen auditions were WAY better than some of the junior auditions. I'm not even going to go near the sophomores because most of their auditions sorta sucked. It made me really sad not to get into this one though. As it's going right now though, it really sucks. All of the people in it are emotionless.
PRIM! WE WERE SO GOOD THESE PEOPLE KINDA SUCK ASSHOLE
