wait, so what is it exactly? do you have sounds prerecorded on logic of abelton and then you use all the switches to add FX to it? like, are the faders the volume of prerecorded tracks on abelton and then u use the little top faders and circles and such to alter it? i dont understand exactly
I must admit, I do want one but with the release of the iPad, will all of this be able to be done on the iPad? See, I'd prefer to do stuff on the Jazzmutant as it's dedicated to music whereas the iPad isn't dedicated. But it is still possible to stuff like this on the iPad if there's an app for it...nobody actually knows the purpose of an iPad yet though...
@omnipitantlyoriginal There's an app for everything right? how come apple users always spit the slogans of the damn company just like that? Ugh...anyways...
@ThaJSpraya I don't know if you did already...but go check all the stuff the Lemur can do, and then again...it is not something you buy to "see what happens" Like people buying a hundred guitar because they just want to learn and don't know if they are serious enough. If i had in mind a really big studio or gigs coming one after another i would seriously think of one, but i don't so...yeah. And my main thing is not electronic...fuck for the time being i don't even have my own pc xD
hi, I am starting out with ableton and am wondering what happens when you press the top blue button? (ex.1:59) The sound repeats itself, what is this called? toggle? do you know how to use this effect in ableton? can anyone help, please?
through ableton, yes its simply a midi controller on some very high grade steroids, you can map anything to it and even create your own midi board. If you watch other videos the setup is dif on everyone because you customize your own. it it's so sweet I wish I had the money for it!!!
And the Jazz? Where exactly is the Jazz? I didn't a single note or beat relating to Jazz.... let alone mode, scale, key, time signature, measure? In fact... are we actually talking about Jazz at all here?
ps, there's nothing this box is doing that can't be done with a simple sampler... it just 'looks' fancy....? What is the point in spending money on something that 'looks' good when you're making music....? surely we start at 'sounds' good... Waldorf / Nord anyone?
well maybe the jazz is in the freedom for you to impro in this thing, by controllin' sounds and samples and their times, but i actually dunno how this thing works, if you create patches or somethin'.
but yes i think it's quite expensive, but i'm not sure how it works, i have lots of samplers (akais mpc's and electribes among others) and yes you can actually do the same things...but if you create patches with this one...think this is better cause you can design your shit. i dunno.
The point on spending the money is that this can have as many pads/sliders/knobs as you want, and then you can create your own MIDI controller, for example,
When Daft Punk played with Kanye West, it showed a shot of them using lemurs, and everytime they touched it, the corresponding word of HBFS came up.
That would have looked absolute shit on a padKONTROL.
@Fagottron actually latency is a measure of delay on any digital product. It's not just for sound my man. In a computer system, latency is often used to mean any delay or waiting that increases real or perceived response time beyond the response time desired. Specific contributors to computer latency include mismatches in data speed between the microprocessor and input/output devices and inadequate data buffers.
So does the Lemur come with all these loops out of the box or do you bring most of them in from Ableton or what have you? And besides recording (because the Lemur has its own CPU and everything) what else does your laptop get used for? THanks
I guess it's just a midi-controller with a multi-touch interface; everything you hear is coming from Ableton and you'll have to make all the loops and synths yourself in Ableton. The lemur just controls them.
well they used the BCR2000's more, they only used this forthe grammys i think, hell even id hate to be seen on the grammys with a $220 midi controller.
these are not 400$ in fact closed to 4000$ USD, £1800 in the uk. These are very reliable hi tec midi controllers, if you want to see it used in a live performance check out stephan bodzin, he adds them to his live sets with a large screen behind him showing exactly what he is doing. these are incredible machines and i would encourage buying one to any one that has the cash, they are especially good for live dj sets including ableton live performances and logic, though they can do much more!
hello my friend! great template! did u make this with --> "workflow optimized interface editor" wich is provided by jazzmutant... or u made this template with a 3rd party software like max? if u can create ur own template inside lemur i am DEFFINATELY getting one tommorow! and if yes.. is this easy to learn? Thanx in advance...
@hippiemittens depends what bit rate you got them running at. Besides, I was using "MP3" just to refer to any kind of audio file (mp3's are the most popular).
Personally, I dont record in high enough bitrates to justify using lossless files, especially since most people will be listening to it on their iPods anyway......
Good God That thing is SICK! Imagine a whole desk full of them! I'd be in heaven. I'd just turn off all of the lights in my studio and go to town. Great vid!
Daft punk use these dont they??
