Prop 8 had everything to do with rights. The right to gay marriage was granted AS A RIGHT. Therefore said right may only be taken away by due process according to the 14th amendment making the vote illegal.

1. California barely passed this bill, and by about 19% less then the last vote.

Meg, let me help you understand the reality. Being gay is no more a "choice" than being left-handed. A homosexual can force himself to have relations with a member of the opposite sex, just like a left-handed person can choose to write with his right hand, but it goes against his innate nature, against how he is made, and since there's absolutely nothing wrong with being gay or left-handed in the first place, what's the point of suppressing one's own nature? God creates diversity. Accept it.

i realize you have all ready been marked as spam for your ignorant hate speech, but i still felt as though I should address a few discrepancies in your comment.
1. California barely passed this bill, and by about 19% less then the last vote.
2. The vote violated the 14th amendment and is therefore illegitimate, what california did was illegal.
3. Gayness is not a choice, I know a few gay people and believe me they were acting gay before they knew what gay meant.

I'm glad to see a Princeton students are as disturbed by prop 8 as I am (Dartmouth '11). It's amazing how people today have not learned from discriminatory issues of the past. Today we are all equal except gay people, how ridiculous is that. Supporters of Prop 8 invoke their religion and other reasons to justify this, ignoring the fact that they are preaching hate towards a group. Furthermore they ignore the separation of church and state and the many rights denied to even civil unions.

just because supporters of prop 8 can't find a way to argue against this "protest" doesn't mean it's so rock solid in sense. it just means it's gone to the level of obscurity that it's impossible to argue anything about it. like bazucomen said, there's a huge hole in this idea. freshmen become sophomores by next year. so that means you're saying that gays should become straight by next year!!! OH I GET IT NOW!!!! THIS WAS IN SUPPORT OF PROP 8 ALL ALONG!!!!

prop 8 is valid today, but Thursday is the day arguments are presented to get it overturned. What happens is anyone's guess, but I will laugh out loud if it gets overturned and the bigots who shelled out big bucks did it for nothing, as well as the dumbass losers who voted yes.
