@vinny - the song was released on their next album as was thugs from this performance... That's classic Gord Downie, when I first heard this I knew he was giving us a little insight of what's to come.
haha, woops. He said they were about to play Nautical Disaster but they are playing New Orleans is Sinking............oh wait...Now they're playing it..lol
Ha! I love it. I've had this version for years. I never knew where it was from & had never seen the video. Thank you so much! Proud 2 be a human being that sees beyond nationality, religion, race, language and cultural barriers to know that We Are the Same. Cheers to the Hip & their fans! If we could all just be a little more aware of our super-capacity to love, the disposable, nonrenewable & suppressive system would collapse. "They say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one"
Nautical disaster is absolutely my favorite on the live CD... Set it up on a home theater system or similar and crank it up. Needs to be loud to appreciate.
Come on.. Who could ever forget Steve Anthony's hair... LOL! Back in the days when the VJ was a kin to an actual DJ... Not long after that, the old time VJ's moved on, and they were replaced with mostly tits who were clones of the MTV generation... Sad. Truly a loss of canadian style culture. Maybe george Strombo and Suk Yin Lee were the minor exceptions. Either way. A classic video performance showing just how tight the hip are and were as a band. Back in their rocking days Thx for posting this
this is a good song i wonder if they got the idea for this song from zeppelins when the levee breaks its easy getting ideas from other songs like who never got ideas from dylan he was the inspiration forrock and roll
new orleans is sinking is the definitive stomping ground for rants/new songs... i really dig the "save the humans" shirt. pretty funny. nautical disaster is my favourite song on day for night, man--it's very poetic.
I was at this show - I refer to when the Hip were the Hip and this is it. 2 years earlier they played at McMaster Univ. in Hamilton - aat the 'Downstairs John' - Cover? $2 - that was my first hip show followed buy 3 on Road Apples tour including above, 2 on the following and 4 on Day for Night. By 1998 when Gord was sober, married and boring - they had lost their edge all together. Gordie - although a fascinating and insightful intellectual, no longer rocks. Anyone else at this show?

I guess this performance of Nautical Disaster is prior to its being released on CD? Looks like the audience doesn't know the song.

the disaster that was Hurricane Katrina
with the song "New Orleans is Sinking"....
What more do you want...
