  • @vinny - the song was released on their next album as was thugs from this performance... That's classic Gord Downie, when I first heard this I knew he was giving us a little insight of what's to come.

  • haha, woops. He said they were about to play Nautical Disaster but they are playing New Orleans is Sinking............oh wait...Now they're playing it..lol

  • Holy dick, I wish I had a Delorean. Great performance!

  • I guess this performance of Nautical Disaster is prior to its being released on CD? Looks like the audience doesn't know the song.

  • who is the 1 person that disliked this, me tink we should linch them!!!!

  • 1 person is just mad because the audio engineer allowed feedback during the greatest version of Nautical Disaster ever recorded!

  • Ha! I love it. I've had this version for years. I never knew where it was from & had never seen the video. Thank you so much! Proud 2 be a human being that sees beyond nationality, religion, race, language and cultural barriers to know that We Are the Same. Cheers to the Hip & their fans! If we could all just be a little more aware of our super-capacity to love, the disposable, nonrenewable & suppressive system would collapse. "They say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one"

  • These guys should publish a book! The fans would love to know where their inspiration comes from.

  • Does anyone have the version of Hey Maria with Andrew Cash and Gord Downie from this concert... One of my all time fav's

  • hahahaha i love how he introduces the song haha

  • Gotta luv Gordo

  • 'Nautical Disaster' one of the greatest rock songs ever written. Very underrated.

  • @eyeqew Calling songs that you like 'underrated' is overrated.

  • gord with hair still why they never went huge is beyond me

  • I donated 12 times while watching this video!

  • looks like gord's wife used the 'flo-bee' to cut his hair. love their music--it's irreplaceable

  • wow. gord has hair. looks better bald

  • Are there other bands?

    Keep the wagon wheel turning

  • This is my Favorite hip song!!I (well one of the many) It's the best on the" live" CD

  • @fancyfeet30

Nautical disaster is absolutely my favorite on the live CD... Set it up on a home theater system or similar and crank it up. Needs to be loud to appreciate.

  • Well I'd say we have great taste then ! Their music only gets better with age too..

  • THE BEST!!!

  • Save the humans

    Right on Gord

  • What Eh Transition!

    Awe some

  • Isn't this New Orleans Is Sinking????"

  • God Bless Canada and The Hip!!!!

  • haha I knew they would slide back into NOIS

    at the end!!

NOIS is a prerequisite for any CD called

'Greatest Rock Tunes of All Time'!!

  • ahhaah pauls hair! lmao this is sickkk. LOVE LOVE LOVE The Hip! they ROCK!

  • Awesome...I have this song on cd!! this is awesome!! ahhhhh!! this is fantastic, it's like I found an old friend that now has a face..

  • back when MuchMusic was worth watching.

  • so true

  • Oh yea thats so right, I have not watched music videos on much music in YEARS!!

  • Come on.. Who could ever forget Steve Anthony's hair... LOL! Back in the days when the VJ was a kin to an actual DJ... Not long after that, the old time VJ's moved on, and they were replaced with mostly tits who were clones of the MTV generation... Sad. Truly a loss of canadian style culture. Maybe george Strombo and Suk Yin Lee were the minor exceptions. Either way. A classic video performance showing just how tight the hip are and were as a band. Back in their rocking days Thx for posting this

  • fuckin awesome. the hip kicks ass. some great dancing going on in the crowd as well.

  • The introduction is one of the best lines ever.

  • God... I miss the Forum.

And I sure as hell do miss the "old" MuchMusic.

  • Cool!

    Its that simple

    Very Cool

  • Gotta love da Hip!!! God Bless Canada!

  • this is easily one of the best rock and roll performances I ever saw

  • wtf..day for night wasnt out till 94!!musta had nautical disaster kickin around for a while!!!

  • this is a good song i wonder if they got the idea for this song from zeppelins when the levee breaks its easy getting ideas from other songs like who never got ideas from dylan he was the inspiration forrock and roll

  • When the Levee Breaks is a traditional folk song. Zep didn't write it.

  • i love the simple bass that gord plays

when nautical disaster kicks in, so simple but

    it has a good sound

  • didn't this happen already ?

  • Yes. The concert took place in 1993. We do not have the technology to post videos of events that will take place in the future.

  • HAHAHAHAH thats awesome

  • @hipfans i think hes making a katrina joke lol

  • @t168 and so was I.

  • @hipfans Comments like this are why I'm glad there's an internet.

  • new orleans is sinking is the definitive stomping ground for rants/new songs... i really dig the "save the humans" shirt. pretty funny. nautical disaster is my favourite song on day for night, man--it's very poetic.

  • and this is why the hip are the best

  • one of the many reasons, yeah

  • you see hard it isssss you see how hardddd it is....

  • I love this song since the first second I heard the guitar lick

  • same here, dude. rob bakers guitar style and licks are very unique i find.

  • fuck me too.

  • AWESOME

Whos got the rest of this show? they do 50 Mission Cap & a cool version of Thugs also

  • amazing. im seeing them on the 21st of september 07 !!!!

  • I was at this show - I refer to when the Hip were the Hip and this is it. 2 years earlier they played at McMaster Univ. in Hamilton - aat the 'Downstairs John' - Cover? $2 - that was my first hip show followed buy 3 on Road Apples tour including above, 2 on the following and 4 on Day for Night. By 1998 when Gord was sober, married and boring - they had lost their edge all together. Gordie - although a fascinating and insightful intellectual, no longer rocks. Anyone else at this show?

  • have to agree with yerfucked, hell that song was on when i was still with my first ex wife,

And although its a tragic event, Katrina, its not you did not know it was going to happen, Just like the next big one In California.

  • The Hip predicted

the disaster that was Hurricane Katrina

with the song "New Orleans is Sinking"....

    What more do you want...

I feel the pain, but it was written long before the disaster....?

  • The hip are slowly growing power, soon they will be as big as rush.

  • fuck rush

  • hey now there's no competition there. two great bands can co-exist in canada.

and the meek shall inherit the earth.

by the way, neil peart invented the drum kit. I suggest you check out "A WORK IN PROGRESS" it's available on DVD

  • Wtf is so bad about this song? It's one of the best damn songs Ive ever heard!

  • Remember this was the first time anyone heard nautical disaster...very cool

  • i have a bootleg where he says this is asong about his favorite nuclear submarine

  • classic Hip!

  • fricking wild, there is only one, can't believe that in Katrina the song was banned from the air waves, they don't get it at all

  • it was banned over most of north america if not all, a dj in the town where my buddy's from got pulled for playing it

  • in Oct after Katrina they played it at a friends wedding... the bride cut the DJ off.

  • wut a bitch, probly never even heard the hip before

  • pretty fuckin amazing , hip kickass, nuff said

  • I've heard this version so many times, but didn't realize it was on video. Nice.

  • i like both songs mixed. nice sound

  • Hearing this band for the first time. (I know, where have I been?) They sound great. Now I got to get some of their cds.

  • Just getting started ?! Go in order and enjoy one great fucking band. I can't express what they mean to me. Have fun.

  • There isn't a better Canadian band who have written a song about the Dieppe Raid.

    He looks like Andy Kaufman.

  • THE HIP IS THEE BEST BAND EVER

  • they torn down the forum, best place to see concerts in toronto, replaced with one way seating.

  • hell yeah...gordy is one of the best I have seen

  • great speaker wipe out! You see how hard it is real hard!

  • THANKS FOR POSTING THIS. Havent seen this since 1993. Lets see any band beat this.

  • The Hip Are The Shit

  • You are shit, this is the best damn canadian band in the land.... you probably listen to rap.

  • are you kidding me?

maybe you should read the commet throughly before slamming it

it says " the hip ARE THE shit"

    not the hip are shit

you probaly listen to gay guys fucking
