You are laying PLASTIC on the ground!Is plastic not very bad for our environment?Have we not been trying to find a way to reduce the use of plastics in hopes to save our environment?Is this a special plastic?Is it enviromentally friendly?I'm not that knowledgeable in terms of gardening but it seems to me that plastic cannot be broken down and we have tons of plastic poisoning our earth!
The reason plastic has become so widely used for these applications is precisely because plastic does not as you say break down. This means a gardener or farmer can make the investment of buying the plastic sheeting once, but can use it for a number of years. More conventional mulches need to applied and re-applied much more regularly, raising costs. Conventional mulches by adding more organic material to soil that doesn't need, can actually water-log soil.
