Since when is rap music? It's some sort of excuse for not trying. Watch a nerdy kid walking up the street the other day listen to rap and repeating the lame lines. I also remember him testing locks on cars last summer. Cars have been broken into lately. Hmmm I wonder who could have done that? A rapper? 10. That is mainstream crap that you hear on the radio. There is a lot of good rappers. I hate to admit it but Eminem is a decent rapper but he is violent and all talk so I don't like him. Nas is great, Aesop Rock, Andre 3000 and Tupac. There are a lot of AMAZING rappers.
9. Rapping does take skill. Rapping is poetry dealing with political and social issues. Just because there aren't blaring instruments in your ears doesn't mean that you are a genius. Music comes in many ways including words.

To do rap really well you do need talent, but not necessarily an ability to play music. It's not really an artform musicians have much interest in. Skilled musicians have about as much interest in rap music as they do in RockBand. Kind of a cute novelty I suppose but not the real thing. Sort of for wannabes.
