A criminal act such as assault (particularly in this case a senseless beating) is by definition a violation of law and clearly a serious breach of social contract.
As members of society that have entered into such a social contract we are all entitled to know of such occurrences. It's not about whether I would want it to be broadcast on the news or not.

I hardly believe that. The cabby had a reputation for locking people in his cab. It was a publictiy stunt that the cab driver was just trying to get attention. I cant see him then saying it was only his cousin who did anything. The ones who threw this out of control is the media. I believe all the charges where dropped anyway. As far as I've read they no money transaction was made. It was thrown out because all the taxi driver wanted was attention. I could be wrong but I can't recall any actual pictures of this cab driver with any injuries at all. If you can find them please post a link but him giving the guy money because he beat him up for not giving him money makes no sense. I don't honestly believe he did it. The Media just thru it out of control.

Yes, but then you go back and look at the different interviews and you start to find that what the story seems to follow is that the Cabby locked the 2 in the car, his first mistake I mean seriously what's wrong with people when they resort to kidnapping hockey players, but then it's stated his cousin felt threatened and started fighting his way into getting out of the cab by using force. The media really over fed this story and blew it way out of proportion
