Nice video but I can't stress how important it is to turn your head towards the floor at 45 degree angle after you've turned on your side. Then hold it there for 30 to 120 seconds before sitting up again. The nurse doesn't mention it and in many cases it could be the difference between a relapse and a cure.
it would have been good if you had done the manouevres properly, as they are described in the leaflet you show. In the Hallpike-dix, the patient should return to upright position between analysing the two sides.. Also the Epley's manouevre, in the last bit there is two stages, one where the patient looks forward and another where the patient looks down. It has a higher sensitivity this way.
@lmellick take care with the manoeuvre in patients who have neck disease and avoid performing the manoeuvre in patients with major cervical spine instability
Intern should have stabilized his head on the way down in the epley so he didn't hit his head on the bar. My staff doc would have ripped me if we let that happen.
Can this be done for prevention of vertigo. Like once or twice a week

This was not done properly. Far too fast and no support gvn to patient. I agree w post prior to mine. It worked on me 4 days n vertigo came back.

@iamheasyouaremeandwe You are probably right about the trumpet and I should probably stick with my day job. :)

horizontal nystagmus - think about central vestibular cause e.g. posterior fossa tumor!
bachbach 1 year ago
You don't say if this is a right or left BPPV. And you don't explain how to test which it is...
tete2brioche 1 year ago
@tete2brioche This is the procedure for BPPV of the right posterior canal.

He looked unwell, spech wasnt too clear and had vertical nystagmus on Hallpike. I would think carefully before diagnosing just BPPV.
