After the fight is over, most anglers release the fish back into the wild, but poorer fishermen in third world countries must eat them or die. Also, you shouldn't hate hunting altogether, but only hunting for sport as it provides food for countries that have game to hunt, e.g. Africa.

In BC we have the DFO (Department of Fisheries and Oceans) and the Wildlife Act. These, along with game officers and harsh penalties, are measures in place to ensure the protection of species. They regulate the amount of wildlife harvested in a season and they monitor animal numbers very closely.

You have a cow who has been fed ideal grain in ideal conditions for its entire life. From the day it was born its destiny was to wind up on your dinner plate. On the the other hand you have a wild deer, who was born to survive. Every day, it has to work to stay alive. Now which of the two do you think is more helpless.

@GShock112 3. I do not agree with sport hunting. Hunting just for sake of killing an animal or for trophies is unethical to say the least. I'll give you that much. Sport fishing though is different. Mortality rates among catch and release fish are quite low despite what you may hear. Some lakes are designated as catch and release only and in that case only barbless hooks are allowed. This makes it easy to remove the hook without traumatizing the fish.
