  • Honest questions, are people shooting eachother or just shooting at random objects? Honestly I don't get it.

  • Columbus is an all white area. I'm a non-white and the police followed my car because of that and beat me to the ground and shot me in the waist 4 times and told me if they ever see me in their town again they burn me to a cross. if you're not white stay out of Columbus.

  • That ain't nuthin like the northside.. we had that bitch poppin

  • Let me start by saying, no matter what my heart is on the hilltop. My mother died in the same house she was born at age 60 ,she would be 67 if she was still alive. My whole family lives in that area but me. When my grandparents bought their house in the 1940's it was a great neighborhood. When I ran the street over there, it was starting to get bad. Lots of problems started at Holton.... then now. Well we all know what it's like now, this video says a lot. It angers me to watch. Hearthbreaking

  • @Georgetta1969 It is heartbreaking, that is the perfect word for this video.

  • Hilltop All Day Everyday . 614 (:

  • I haven't made any comments on here lately, but I have been reading them. I'm not spaming anyones comments or censoring anyones comments, so I wish people would stop doing that to one anothers comments and let people speak whats on there mind., good or bad. To those saying it's fireworks, my house faces west, I can't hear the downtown fireworks from here. I'd like to invite Mayor Coleman to come sit on my front porch next new years eve.

  • @mdlravage the mayor would not be found within 10 miles of the hilltop on new years. i would like to see that myself but lets face it hes not going to maybe we could start a program to give away blanks on new years to everybody. we should not have to but it would make it a little safer on new years .. yea i first moved in when i was around 4 or 5 was on south Eureka then south terrace then south warren and now i live between Sullivan and Fremont around Hague ave

  • anyway sorry to rant on you vid it just makes me mad cause instead of fighting illegal guns or crack and heroin and doctors who hand pills out like there candy and just spend millions of fighting weed and nobody's ever died from marijuana.

i lived on the hilltop sense i was 4 i'm 27 going on 28 its started going downhill once i hit like 22 i'd say

  • @TheStonedNoob Feel free to rant as much as you want stonednoob, I've lived here for almost 8 years, so youv'e been here much longer than me. This video was filmed East of Hague, and West of Wheatland, and I live between Broad and Sullivant, so I am in the heart of Hilltop.

  • about all the illegal guns that are in Ohio maybe if the cops actually had a brain they would understand Columbus is a major hub we have freeways to everywhere you can get pretty much anywhere from Ohio on a freeway and maybe just maybe there some people in gun smuggling no they waste there time on pot smokers who don't do shit that's the only thing i do that's illegal is smoke weed. its a gate way drug because you make it one and ive smoked weed sense i was 15 i never smoked meth of did crack

  • there are two things they need to do for one give everybody on the hilltop that haves a legal gun a fucking break we got all these damn laws like we are the crimnals but yet we have had a background check and you know we have never been charged with a felony of any kind.. but yet if i want a gun illegally i can go buy a fully automatic AK47 for about 100 maybe 150 and a hand gun just depends on what you get its easier then legally and lets face it most can't own a legal so we need to do somthing

  • next year i'm getting a better mic and doing it i did it with my webcam in the window and the recorder messed up when i went to save it so it missed half of it. you should set it out there at 11:50 that's when it starts....

  • this is every year and it gets worse every year

  • good old Columbus LOL

  • that is not no dam firworks, we cant hear red, white and boom on the hill, its just stupid ass ppl trying to show off what they got, a bunch of cowards, The Hilltop has always been like this..... sad 2 say

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah. Fireworks... Sure, you must live in Worthington.

  • @litlgray- the cops aren't paid to go outside in a SHOWER of bullets. Use common sense. What sergeant is gonna sent 9 guys out in the hilltop at the peak of the night when you can't go 10 seconds without hearing rapid gun shot. What the hell are te cops gonna do? Pull out their own gun and a neighborhood and confront 20 guns? You do realize that's proably what the odds were like 30-1. They are supposed to hang back until fire ceases and then can act

  • @gigilicious30 well you know when a 10 year old can walk down the street and find someone who is willing to sell them a loaded gun i think that's a big issues if you know the area you know there is a lot of black markets back alley dealer kinda places it's no secret you can get anything if you got enough cash no matter the age. but i agree i don't expect them to pull up and say stop lol they would not even make it out of there car

  • Oh dear God! What does it matter if "most shoot at the ground"? How the he'll so you know what everyone does especially when ppl have been drinking since they rise. 1st of all it's very much illegal! That's not why "you have a right to own a gun"! You have a right to own it to defend yourself or go hunting OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS and not shoot it as a celebration on new years like some moron. I have a friend that happens to work in the hilltop and the times he gets called in cause bullets go in

  • 3:16 epic !

  • dats how my hood get down man...lol

  • you shouldn't be shooting a damn gun in city limits in the first place dumbass!, yall are fu#$n stupid if u think its cool and ok to do it!

  • ANYONE that thinks this is ONLY gunfire he is less then 3miles from the Columbus fireworks... type in..... thimindu ...... into your search bar above and watch that video to get explanation for the loud booms. I haven't been to a neighborhood on New Year or 4th of July that hasn't had gunshots as celebration.SO YOU hoitie toitie people that say this isn't normal, your wrong. Some neighborhoods just own more guns then others THATS OUR RIGHT) and MOST are smart enough to shoot into the ground.

  • towards the end, with the harmonica accompanying the clack-clacks, sounds like jazz

  • I live in this area, I knew it was coming it always does I watched Dick Clark and ate pizza with friends and family, It all settles down pretty quick not like it went all night, I imagine it's like that in a lot of places.

Cop's are powerless to stop it.. even if they wanted to which they can't be bothered with outside of interviews and sound bites on tv.

I'm not condoning it but it's not as big a deal as people make it out to be.

  • From the 3:55 mark, it is solid gun fire. Fireworks my ass. War torn Bosnia if you ask me. Maybe the 4 term mayor will do something about this, or is he too busy partying it up at Bar Louie?

  • Everybody else is shooting, I wonder how the dumb ass with the cow bell and the air horn feels trying to keep up?!?!! Hahahahahaha

  • also you can see the paddywagon rolling by, so at least the cops are out.

  • short north is alot worse, theres people with fucking aks

  • @soulrisk1010

That is a fairly common gun and there isn't anything magical about it despite what movies might want you to think.

  • I hope Obama hears all those guns firing off in celelbration of not just New Year's but also our Freedom. Americans are still proud and they still keep their firearms with them. Try to take over our country, eh? NDAA 2012 won't go over well in this country.

  • They are about to show this video on abc6 right now. They stole your video. Didnt even ask to use it.

  • It's the Red Hour! Festival! Festival!

  • @SpaceboySixFour They ARE of the Body.

  • I was tripping on LSD at late night slice listening to this they're just Columbus fireworks guys

  • This isn't exclusive to the Hilltop. I live in the Northland area and can hear the dumbasses in Linden doing the same thing every year. Don't they know those bullets have to land somewhere?

  • @ekinn3 most, MOST shoot into the ground.

  • @mattfarus1 If even one, ONE, doesn't hit the ground and hits a person, pet, house or car, then it's f*#@&^g stupid and senseless.

  • @ekinn3 lmao how is something going 900 fps not going to hit the ground if that is where its aimed? you must be another Bexley STUCK UP ASSHOLE that thinks they are better then everyone else. stay in your rich Hoitie Toitie neighborhood. you take risk everyday, the medicine you take, the food you eat, the car you drive have a better chance of killing you then bullet that is shot into the ground. 1 QUESTION HOW MANY PEOPLE DIED IN THIS SUPPOSED URBAN WAR ZONE? 0 SAME WITH SOUTH COLUMBUS.0

  • @mattfarus1 As I said in my original comment, I live in the Northland area. Far from Bexley both geographically and socio-economically. I don't think I'm better than anyone else, I just dont want a bullet flying through my window.

  • This video was just featured on channel 6 news at 6pm. I didn't know it would be on, I just happened to be watching. It might be on again at 11:00pm

  • Great sound quality. Is this a built in mic? What camera was used?

Great video. I could hear the shots from Westerville. Sounded like Iraq!

  • @wickedbadretard This was one of those tiny flipcams, they are great!

  • @wickedbadretard You must have some mighty big ears if you could hear these shots from Westerville. Must be about 25 miles away.

  • @wickedbadretard

oh there was plenty of gunfire not far from westerville too, it sounded almost this bad around westerville/morse/cleveland area and i'm sure 161, and yes it did sound like a war zone

  • wonder where it was raining bullets at? fucking idiots!!!!!!!!!

The bad thing is nature taking it's sweet time on running it's course by them killing each other off!!!

  • Glad I'm in Grandview!

  • What a bunch of dumbasses! I have lived in Columbus for 16 years and the hilltop has always been a shit hill! The people that live there are chromosomely challenged.

  • You can tell that they are guns because it is a one after another type of sound, and not a scttered mess like a pack of fireworks.

  • these arent fireworks dumbass

  • @farleycl1

Some of it is, lot of it's not.. but ya some of it is.

  • @THEGEZZIEKAH... yes it is...

  • I could never call anywhere else home. Call it what you want but emptying a clip out the back door at midnight is a FAMILY TRADITION!

  • So thankful that I've moved out of the neighborhood!

  • There might have been one firework in there, that was 99% gunfire.

  • I'm surprised no one stole your camera.

  • Comment removed

  • @ms3er it was too damn dark to see it and they were ducking from all the blazing

  • This is my neighborhood too, I live on S Eureka. What street was this taken on?

  • some r fireworks. majority r gunshots

  • iit sad that i can tell what street this is?

  • It's New Year's Eve at 11:55. "Listen for about five minutes," by your own time stamp means that background noise that sounds like a war zone is actually the midnight fireworks being set off a mile and a half away for First Night Columbus.

Yes, there is some gunfire. No, it's not okay. But publicizing this gross over-exaggeration won't don't anything to help "your neighborhood."

  • @Jacquid03 Would fireworks from the Riverfront reach the Hilltop like that?

  • @hopemoore Hi, no we do not hear the fireworks from the Riverfront.

  • @hopemoore no they wouldnt...

  • @hopemoore

depends on 1. type of fireworks, and 2. where you're at, but in a fair number of places the answer is yes.

that's not all fireworks, although people saying it's all gunfire is also wrong.

  • @Jacquid03 there are a few fireworks, but the vast majority is gunfire.

  • @Jacquid03 it's not an exaggeration by any means. The Hilltop Area is a shit hole /period. I wouldn't even drive near that pit of humanity.

  • @ms3er If you lived here, you'd know it is a nice neighborhood that fell on hard times when the banksters began to evict working people from their homes. We have many artists here, and we may be one of the few neighborhoods in Central Ohio that are truly diverse.

  • @mdlravage lol "Fell on hard times" I lived in columbus my whole life. while it MAY have been trying to get better it has NEVER been a desirable place to live.

  • @jnusaira

    compared to?

Anyone who thinks their neighhood has no crime or commotion either has agoraphobia or doesn't know their neighhood very well...

I can almost guarantee you there is a crack house for example within 300 yards of your house (assuming you live in a urban area) despite what the movies depict crack houses do not have signs outside advertising.

  • @mdlravage I used to live in a very nice house in Westgate. There were a few times when I could hear shots like this from the Hilltop or from an apartment complex west of Westgate. I contacted the police once and they acted like they had no idea of what I was talking about. Another time, a policeman told me it was common to have kids shooting guns off at Westgate park after dark. Can't say I am all that positive on the "right" to bear arms.

  • @tbgwio

You're likely thinking of wedge wood apartments, lots of drug dealers and crack houses there.. I highly recommend you not enter that complex at night.. or even in the day if you can avoid.. driving thru it is generally safe though assuming your car does'nt break down.

Ironically 2 schools right next to the complex.

  • @mdlravage LOL, nice neighborhood. That area has been a total crap hole for years. Housing crash had nothing to do with it. Unless crack dealing is an art, that's about the only artists you are finding there. Whole area should be leveled.

  • @mdlravage You may have all that there, but it's still a hell-hole where you're not safe to walk without being armed. You live there, then you know what the crime rates are there. This video is spot on.

  • @Jacquid03 Hi, it is not fireworks. If you listen, you can hear several semis and, I think, one automatic. So, it's not an overexaggeration. It is what it is.

I have always thought that a way to address an issue is first to know what it is. That, I believe, would help my friendly and very cool neighborhood.

  • @Jacquid03

I agree it's not ok but it happens ever year, ya know it's coming, yes it's possible for people be to hurt, property damaged, etc, but statistically few incidents considering "how bad" it supposedly is.

Personally I'd be more worried of drunk drivers on the road, I guarantee you there was more of them on the road then shots fired.

  • @Jacquid03

You can tell a difference between fireworks and gun fire and I'd say it was mostly gun fire, someone with one of those annoying new years horns and some fire works maybe, but those could have been from anywhere

  • @Jacquid03 you'd have to know the area....only fire can help it.

  • Its not a racist thing. Its a bunch of corny ass black AND white people acting like idiots. Its to be expected now in 2012.

  • I live in Columbus as well, that is super frightning! Sounded like a serious war zone! @ 4.40 & 6.000 sec the shots are hitting something very close to that camera that you can hear the bullets hitting! People are so stupid! Scary your neighbor even came out and shot a round early in the film! What a great idea taping this! I just learned what part of town to stay away from on 12, 31!

  • @pattonandserio That's the sound of people banging on a pot with a spoon or something. A bullet striking near the camera would have a vastly different sound. When a bullet passes near by you can tell because you will hear the sonic boom created by the bullet. This sound is more of a whistle or a sharp crack if it is closer to you.

  • @daishi0001 a bullet don't make a sonic boom it make a whistle or a whizzing sound when it passes you. I

  • @pattonandserio thats some one hitting a pot with a spoon or something, no gun shot befor the hit. good try at makeing it worse then it is

  • @Stratifying You shouldn't own guns or a computer, Mr. Racist

  • @mdlravage Calling me a racist doesn't justify the behaviour. How about calling it like it really is, and expecting more from people, instead of just giving them excuses for bad behaviour?

  • I think that is precisely what he is doing, Straitifying. He is calling you on your bad behavior, as it really is, and we would all expect an awful lot more from anyone than your hateful comment evidences. Mdlravage's video itself calls it like it is in the most straightforward sense: it literally shows us what it was like then and there, as it was, really. What excuse is he providing for bad behavior? He is showing us the bad behavior you cite, of which we can assume he does not approve.

  • @badddandy I'm glad you mention that, because NOW I notice that. In the video, you can see the police paddy wagon going down the street.

  • @mdlravage That was no paddy wagon... that was just an EMT, and perhaps not even on call since his strobes and sirens were off.

  • @litlgrey definitely a CPD wagon

  • @bass5drummer08 Aww, shoot, maybe I'm wrong. Okay. But not on call, regardless.

  • @litlgrey Definitely a CPD wagon.

  • @dougperkowski I thought it was. I mean, I see enough of them. Being right on 23 North, they speed past my place all the time. But, like I said, not flashing, not on call.

  • @litlgrey

bass5drummer08 is right that is definitely a CPD wagon.

They ditched the ford econolines along time ago, FD squads are quite a bit larger.

not that it matters either way

  • @opisex You're right, you're right. It might have mattered, though, if during the entire ten minute course of that video, the CPD had shown any sort of presence at all. Evidently they were told to hang back and not answer any calls unless guns were being pointed at human beings instead of the sky. We really are becoming more like Syria or Tunisia every day.

  • @litlgrey

I could tell you 1st hand stores of CPD not responding, in 1 case it resulted in a fatal shooting 25 mins later. (I wasn't involved, but did call)

We could speculate as to why they are slow or dont even answer calls when there is a substation less then 5 blocks from my house.. but the old phrase rings true "when seconds count the cops are minutes away"

Like it or not ultimately the only person you can count on is your self.

  • @opisex Phewwww. Happy New Year, eh?

  • did you also notice the helicopter wasn't flying that night,either..

that thing would have been full of bullet holes if it flew over wedgewood

  • @badddandy There was a helicopter circling German Village/South End that night. We heard shots all the way out here!

  • @hopemoore hahah that's where I live, over in Marion Village.

  • @badddandy

we had a few fly over later in the night.

they might have been grounded right at the ball drop though, on the other hand not only would it be easy to spot people shooting up in the chopper but also you would REALLY have to be stupid to fire with a chopper in ear shot or in sight.. they're fairly loud.
