I watched this clip before my wife and I went to La Rambla. We passed by a shell game going on . So I said to my wife "Watch me try to record this, but a spectator won't allow it.". Sure enough, I acted like this was the coolest thing I ever saw . When I pulled out my camera and aimed it at the game , one of the spectators got mad and tried swatting at my camera. I made like I was just trying to tape this neat event and you are getting upset.That made the crowd disperse. LOL!

I was there yesterday and they've upgraded to a table as well now.

They have a nice crowd going and put €50 in your hand if you just nod towards a box. Then they want you to put your €50 in as well.

The guy by the table is covered by 4 or 5 "supporters" who will egg you into putting money forward as well as choosing their own box (normally the wrong one).

These guys are great in scamming and they do have a great misdirection skills. I am a magician myself and I do perform 3 shells game, trust me, even though you saw the pea in the shell and you bet on it, you will lose. Why? Because the con man can easily hide the pea and transfer it to another shell. It requires a lot of skills and once you master it, it's easy to con anyone.

My name is Steve, I have been a driver for a tour company for a few years driving through all the major cities in Europe and have seen these guys 100 million times and watched them for hours..they are all Eastern Euro Gypsy thieves - with the look outs and muscle usually ex military who and like fighting. Even better, if I understand the trick correctly, is to just to hold down ONE cup and lift the other two up which will be empty, which SHOULD mean you've picked the cup with the ball still in it... Which in reality obviously isn't the case cause none of the cups have the ball in it, but it does bust the scam, they'll probably get agro actually! :S

The best advice I can give to everybody who is going to visit Barcelona is: "just dont go to las ramblas" even by day, there is nothing special to see there and in Barcelona there are many 100 times more exiting places but still the most beautiful city in the world.

I think Las Ramblas is one of the most exciting places in Barcelona... If you keep an eye on your stuff (pickpocketing is usual), you won't have any problems...

If you know something illegal is happening, and some mob even threatens you to turn your camera off, you silently go find a local policeman (they're called "Guardia Urbana", and las ramblas is full of them), and they take them away.

OTOH, what makes you think a bunch of nasty guys would give away their money so easily?
