  • Little fact: David Cameron (much as we love him) gave Obama 12 bottles of Hobgoblin in a beer exchange.

  • It's...It's just..... *BUUURRRRP*

  • Bro would like your take on Ommegang Abbey Ale(8.5%ABV) & Three Philosophers(9.8%ABV)

    Cooperstown,NY

  • hobgobblins a winner

  • lol seams like ur already a lil buzzed lol

  • I absolutely adore this beer

  • im drinking this beer now and it taste good!

  • my frend joe drinks Hobgoblin

  • I like this guy.

  • i think its a little to bitter!

  • u should try sierra nevada pale ale good shit!!!!

  • drinking one right now!!!!

  • One of my favourites!

  • Im drinking a hobgoblin now! delicous!

  • I dont mean to sound disrespectfu,l but in my opinion British beers / ale .(ie. Hobgoblin, Speckled Hen. etc.) is far superior to the American beers that i`ve tried. ( Michelob, Coors, Budweiser etc). What you call beer, we in the UK would class as Lager.

  • @grimsbyjack Most of us that watch these reviews don't drink much of those fizzy yellow beers either.Mostly craft beers and imports.

  • @grimsbyjack Yeah I think European beer overall is much better than American beer ^^

  • @Lorfmor that depends though. Some european MACRO brews can be awful. I agree that most North American beer is terrible (especially the mainstream crap like Bud and Coors) but North America is making great strides on the microbrew and craft beer scene.

  • You should really pour it all down the inside of the glass; then you don't get lots of head. Also, was the smoke from chilling it? English ale should really be drank at room temperature. Otherwise good review - thanks for putting it up. This is my favourite ale.

  • all these americans reviewing our english ales is hilarious. They don't have a clue do they lol

  • I'm drinking it right now and it's one of my fav beers. Funny thing I have the exact same opener this guy used. I'm in Ireland and it's €2.49 in my local shop

  • reviewing beer.... SMART!

  • You really should learn how to pour an English beer so that it's NOT all head .....

  • i love beer

  • Barons sells it.... its like 4.29 tho... definatly a good beer.. i havnt drank many beers other than american beers but this one is good...

  • dam son i just payed 4.29 for that shit.. wtf..

  • lovely beer this, i bought a 4 pack in ASDA supermarket (uk) for £5 today

  • listen the doors drink a good beer you ready to die

  • i paid 5 lol

  • its soo cool cause they are the unofficial beer of halloween. haha

  • its a beer well known for being a mans drink the motto infact is ( whats a matter lager boy afraid you might taste something ) and all you people around the world. us fan's of hobgoblin are trying to convert a lager boy. go on the hobgoblin website and convert a lager boy.

  • I love drinking Hobgoblin beer, its exactly how you`ve described it. Another favourite of mine is.... "Bishops Finger".. brewed by Shepherd Neame of Faversham, Kent., England. ( 5.4%) proof. Bottoms up !!

  • If you get to visit the UK, try King Goblin; it's the special reserve of Hobgoblin at 6.6% ABV has a similar great taste. I personally find it slightly sweeter and doesn't have the bitter finish you get with Hobgoblin

  • GET IT DOWN YA!!

    afraid you might taste something?

    lol

  • WRONG... WRONG ... WRONG cant enjoy a Hobgoblin in a Samuel Adams Glass!!!

  • i like the doors background music

  • I just went on a brewery tour at Wychwood Brewery today! Such an informative tour and you get to sample a wide range of their beers, including the Hobgoblin special reserve called King Goblin which is 6.6% ABV. Went home with a lot of swag and beers you'll have trouble finding in North America. Their prices for single bottles was 1.75 GBP, which is just under 3 dollars US. I highly recommend anyone visiting the UK, to try and get to the brewery in Witney. It was a great experience.

  • @Cyraxthe666 sounds great, I'll go when I'm down that way

  • I do enjoy the normal beers like bud or whatever but i really like odd beers. hipster as it may be, they still taste better.. normally

  • Would be fun to go to the pub and have a few pints with you!

  • Hobgoblin beer is well worth 4 dollars per bottle. My favorite beer.

  • hey man have you tried Hobgoblins brew-mate Scarecrow? its a pale ale

  • This man knows what he's talking about, JD if ever you're in England give me a shout and we'll go on the piss, a proper pub crawl mate lol.

  • This was my playoff beer you have no idea how impatient I would get for those hockey games, just so I could down some more

  • It's my favorite :)

  • i live in england so luckily for me its alot cheaper than $4 a bottle. got to be one of my favourite beers would definately recommend it. nice review man keep it up!

  • I drank my first Hobgoblin today here in sweden, tastes kinda fruity in a good way. gets me slightly frunker than jut regular beer. Would not mind have one more goblin some day

  • World Market always has some good stuff. Looking forward to my next stop.

  • I'm sat here drinking a bottle of HobGoblin, never tried it before and I think you've got the review spot on mate. It taste exactly as you described. It's got a very nice traditional taste to it.

Gonna try the Scarecrow by Wychwoods next.

All the best from Birmingham, England (UK).

  • love the review man, received this beer a a gift, i live in Afghanistan. drinking it now. wow dark european and american beers are like eating a meal.:)

  • This beer is a winner, they sell it by the pint in most of the local pubs near me.

    It's a favourite of many!

  • Just had this beer. Very citrusy smelling. And then a very nice balance to the taste. 2 thumb up!

  • am i hearing riders on the storm?

  • The more hobgoblin you drink the more you will like it . Beautiful ruby taste very nice english beer

  • Hey JJdaven.......thanks for this great review...im addicted to hobgoblin now..its my fav beer now gotta love it

  • Dude if you can try and get hold of the canned version. It's supposed to taste better.

  • joe got that scarface cuban type of shirt on; us cubans call them guayaberas; anyways I've been watching your videos all day long and i love them. what do you prefer hobgoblin or newcastle or sam adams? i bought a 12 pack of newcastle today and like you said its great... i guess the hobgoblin has that coffee, fruity flavor but you think is worth the price? thanks joe you and your videos are the best man, shit man I've been watching them all day long.

  • dig the shirt jd.

  • this is a bloody great bitter ale its not for lager boys

  • @jjdaven

I love you man. Honestly. Come live with me.

  • U DA MAN SON!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • YO SAM GLASES ARE THIN, BUT THEY LOOK KOOL

  • I'm gonna go buy this beer tomorrow, the 3.5% version though since I'm only allowed to buy that at 18 in Sweden. So a quick question, why pour it up in the glass? Does it make the beer taste better?

  • @eastmanadocaz i know this is an old comment but pouring the beer releases more of the flavour, you get a nice settle on it which helps with texture and body, most importantly you get a head when poured!

  • good beer..i like it

  • This beer is one of the worst beers i've EVER had, it tastes like puke.and costs WAY too much!I'd give this beer a -5 out of 10! DEFINITELY!

  • @budweiserKing100 stick to ur budweiser n budlight

  • Man, in this Review you look like a Priest !

  • I live in Witney in Oxfordshire where this is brewed! I can walk down the street and into the brewery and pick up a keg of this stuff, such a great beer and a great review!

  • Don't worry JJD, you got the pronunciation of Wychwood right.. Named after the Hwicce people of the area, in Anglo-Saxon times.

Keep it up- you are awesome! Best ,most enthusiastic,beer/ale reviewer I've seen. You seem to like English Ales ,too! You've got good taste.

  • Your videos are the best mann!

  • i'm drinking it now, its lush

  • trust me great beer no smoke required

  • Comment removed

  • just bought one for 1,50 eu, cant wait to try it!

  • especially Whole Foods - they have an excellent beer selection.

  • Hey man. Great review. English Ale is the best ;-)

I highly advise, if you can ever get hold of it(and haven't done so already) to pick up King Goblin. Wychwoods special reserve Ale. It's truly fantastic and a superb drink.

    Best

  • LOL this guy is the shit! I just enjoyed one with you buddy, the same kind. Cyber brew.

  • Hey dude, I was looking for a page about whether drinking hobgoblin before or after another type of beer was a good idea and came across your channel.

Dude, you're fab. I've subscribed now so you gotta make more!

    Cheers!

  • A good beer, I'm drinking a pint now. By the way, if you go to Wychwood's website you can see a video of President Obama with a bottle

  • I love the fact that Americans are getting into real ale! ........... Lets face it, it pisses all over Corona and Bud!

  • @toppaz79 Don't get me wrong Bud is nice, but Hobgoblin is the shit!

  • $3.99 is only slightly more than you'd pay in the UK, we've got higher taxes on beer. Because we're alcoholics.

  • $4 is a fair price for such an amazing ale...i am honored to say i toured the wychwood brewery and got to try the hobgoblin on cash. to this day it is still my favorite.

  • Nice reviews. Fun. Your a cool guy. that glass is the bomb, my wife bought me one as well. $4 aint bad.

  • i live in pittsburgh pa.. can anyone tell where i can buy it? my distributor dont have it.

  • 3.99!?!??!

    Fuk Me SIDEWAYS

    Thats Expensive

They Go For 1.50 over here in the south east of England .. Even 90p In some local cases

I guess thats because the brewery isnt that far away

  • Four bucks for a bottle?! Damn, they ripped you off man :/ Over here we have it for about £1 a bottle if you look in the right places. Wychwood produce seriously good drinks which just astound me. If you haven't tried them already I suggest you try an English ale from Wychwood called Goliath and another called Wychcraft. Seriously amazing stuff right there! Although Hobgoblin remains my all time favourite ;D

  • god it gave you two full glasses. thats amazing and for 4 bucks also, amazing

  • wow, it's a great beer but i'm not sure if its worth 4 bucks

  • @billabongodrum It's not a bad beer and I would spend $4 again on it.

  • @jjdaven If you like this you should try and get hold of a couple of bottles of Circlemaster or Wychcraft, 2 more Wychwood ales. Great beers :)

  • @billabongodrum I got it only for $2.50 at Total Wine!

  • @billabongodrum Defnintely worth four bucks!

  • @billabongodrum Definitely worth four bucks!

  • @billabongodrum Definitely worth four bucks!

  • @billabongodrum I do. I just don't buy a case and drink it in a week.

  • you should reallly try the winner beer of this year its call minerva imperial stout ,

    from mexico

  • @freakandrush Sounds good! Thanks for watching.

  • Hey, nice vids. I'm here in England reaching out to chicks about beer. Hobgoblin is my favourite right now. Would love it if you would subscribe/be a friend so we can keep talking beer! x

  • @BeerBeauty Thanks for watching.

  • Can us English make beer or what? ;) Glad you guys enjoy this one so much, just watched a few reviews of Hobgoblin which is probably my favourite beer of all time! Such a shame that you can't get hold of it so readily as we can over here though. I guess I take it for granted that I can go to my local off license and pick this beauty up whenever I like! And it costs £0.99 per bottle which I think is about a dollar 52? There's a new one just come out aswell called King Goblin. Check it out!

  • @Russell101 Thanks for watching

  • I love wytchwood ales. Hobgoblin is one of my faves. Some idiot on another channel dared called it swill, she really doesn't understand good Ale.

  • @galenwolf Thanks for watching

  • Great video mate, I live about 30 miles from where that beer is brewed & they serve it in my local pub on pump, yummy!! You should try Young's Waggle-dance it's brewed with honey. (you may of already, ive not checked out all your vids yet) Cheers...

  • @startrigg Thank you for the suggestion.

  • A local Lidl is selling Hob Goblin at the moment for £1 a bottle, thats just under $2! So if you have one near you go grab a load.

Also there's a special glass for Hob Goblin you can get called "The HobGoblet" it's well worth the money!

  • @MatthiusSama I have seen other people with that glass. I am hoping to find one some day.

  • To me, Hob Goblin is the finest Ale known to man. Nothing is more refreshing to me. :)

  • @MatthiusSama Thanks for watching

  • The mans a legend...

  • Thanks for the compliment.

  • Was that $ 3.99 for a 12oz. or 16 oz. bottle ? I just ordered a case ( I've quaffed this brew before ) here in Japan and it cost me almost $ 70 for a case of 330 ml. bottles ! Beer tax is high in Japan , A watery Japanese lager costs $ 40+ a case .

  • @sonor23 Wow that is high!!

  • hold it up to a bright light, it's very much ruby red

  • @AdamskiFTW Thanks for watching

  • i saved the bottle from my first Hobgoblin cause its really cool

  • @tendercream Thanks for watching

  • Hey jj, how you doing, just been to my local supermarket and they have a new beer i thought you should check out. King Goblin its a stronger version of the Hobgoblin you reviewed, i think its %7 abv.

  • @AtlasAtPeace I love this beer. Drink it from time to time.

  • Hey, hello from England! I subscribed to your channel. Hobgoblin is a great ale :D

  • @TheChristChris Thanks for watching.

  • Great job on the reviews! I also have the Sam Adams glass and love it! If you get a chance, check out the Beer Advocate site. They do a best of BA and it would be ineresting to get a regular guy's opinion. Btw, you gotta try Bell's HopSlam -- phenominal!

  • @Fraederichs Thanks for watching.

  • Review Froach heather ale!

  • Agreed, hobgoblin is a favorite of mine, but I can definitely see if someone doesn't like it. Very robust flavour with a unique aftertaste.

  • @TwilightCodex I don't know, faggot

  • HAHAHA

  • @TwilightCodex Thanks for watching

  • @TwilightCodex Thanks for the suggestion.

  • @Amebixfan Thanks for the suggestion.

  • it's 2am and i've watched about 20 of your videos tonight! been drinking Guinness, but really interested in what you have to say about other beers :) Cracking!

  • @mongoose301 Thank you so much for watching all those video's at once. That is too much ugly for one person to consume all at once like that be careful. Ha-ha.

  • hi, not seen a review for a while,

    2 things

    1. you can pick this up for maybe $2 a .

    bottle in the uk.

2 the last time i was drinking this it was a buck fifty a pint on a balmy late spring day, it was yummy

as an afterthought it's all about the pride of the glass you own, how good the beer is

  • Thank you for watching. I wish I could get this brew for $2.

  • meh. not worth the price. glad you liked it though.

  • Thanks for watching.

  • Witchwood is exactly the right way to pronounce the brewery

  • Thank you for letting me know. I was wondering how that Anchor was.

  • was this a review of the beer or the glass lol

  • Probably the glass. I love my glasses and get kinda geeked out over them.

  • The big fella again shows his appreciation of quality.I've had this brew as well as Brooklyn Lager;they're both superb.English beer is far better out of the cask than in a bottle however.I don't know if Americans can sample English cask ales in the USA but they've some pretty good beers of their own to sip!

  • I have had cask that was made from the same recipe from England. But none that was imported. But we do have tons of really good craft beer here.

  • I got this beer about 3-4 christmas back as a gift and it came in a big logoed tine w/ a t-shirt and I might still have the shirt. But I forget all about the beer on what thought of it and what not. Bye Really good rveievw. Make's me what to go out and try to find some to have again. Have you had anything else that brewery make's and if so how is the stuff? I almost tryed over the holiday's bahumbag they make but didn't cus it's suposed to be like fruite holiday cake a little.

  • Wow it sure has been a while since you had this brew. And it might be time you got out and tried it. I have not had anything else from this brewery but I certainly mean to when I get a chance. Thanks for watching and tell a friend.

  • Try some of the Ales by Badger

  • I will look for them, thanks.

  • Bought this for €2.80($4.02), it's sitting in my cellar freezing and by the sound of things this beer oughta be good.

  • It is a great beer and would like to know what you think of it.

  • I'll give it a 1 thumb up, a very unusual beer to say the least however, it was nice. I'm not a huge malt fan, more of a hop head but the fruit, chocolate and toffee I believe certainly came through.

I see you've done a 1664 review, you should try Kronenbourg, I believe they're both run by the same company however they're slightly different. They're mad cheap in France €0.80 for a pint here.

  • Thank you

  • thats a bitchin shit Joe. I bet you could pull all the bitches with it haha.
