Hi frank, bars 23 and 25 played a little different to what your doing here. Just for your reference. Bar 23 goes (snare,Tom1,floor Tom,kick) then the reverse starting on floor tom. So (floor, tom1, snare, kick) rather than the fill being the same 4 times. Same in bar 25. Love your videos man, their such a great teaching aid. Thanks for taking the time to do them. I only notice the little mistakes because I use your videos for reference so much. Thanks again frank.
I'm really pleased that you pointed it out! It's amazing that we can play these pieces loads of times and assume it's correct. I guess you know that from Grade 5 on then the solo pieces are recorded and on the CDs. But I think that when drummers are starting on grades and probably new to reading then they are probably uncertain how these pieces should actually sound so the videos can give them a little bit of help hopefully.

I only noticed it myself when I sat down and looked closely at it. So it's a triplet with a one on the end starting with snare, then starting with floor Tom like.
Hi again, I've posted samba for One now. have a look and let me know what you think. Trinity said that a small hi hat opening is allowable. But I think that complete section is very tricky.
Ah I see what you mean! Yeah it does kind of spill over slightly and there is no lift marked! I don't think they would have written a part this complexed for grade 4 piece. You could be right in saying it's a misprint, simple because of the tempo they set for it! At a slower pace it's completely possible and that's why I was confused but I played it to pace and I got what your saying! Let me know what they say about it. Thanks Frank, appreciate it.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by not get an opening hi hat. As in opening note of the bar, or physical opening or lift of the hats? If it's lifts, all the foot notes on hats are on a 2 or 4 so there shouldn't be a lift as your left hand will be playing the snare whilst your foot is off hats peddle.?? Could you explain further?
Well, unless I'm misreading it, you play RH bell of cymbal, LH hi-hat, RH bell of cymbal, LH hi-hat and then snare with also left foot hi hat. I find it very hard to play the LH hi hat part and then lift my left foot and then close in the short time. I tend to open the hi hat as I'm playng the last LH hi hat part so you get the disco 'pea soup' effect!. have you tried playing it? let me know if you can get it to work. I've mailed Trinity and they are usually quick to reply.
Sure no problem. I've had a few requests for Samba for One. One thing though - I'm not sure that bar 14 is correct. It seems really hard to not get an opening hi hat in there. Try it and let me know what you think. I've contacted Trinity and will film and record it as soon as I get a reply. hopefully next few days.
Great Solo,Frank! But can you do a Contiuous Tom Roll on floor Tom And Rack Tom like snare drum roll is played?Google helped me locate full Tom Tom Rolls, but this is close for now. Thanks!Brainy at BMSS,Vocalist,Country Morning
Yes, you could play the floor to rack tom part as a single stroke roll. I tried it that way but just preferred keeping my right hand on the floor tom. A lot of these exercises are about choosing sticking that's best for you.

Hi Frank, would you mind doing the samba for one piece in grade 4, section b. I find it easier to read when I've an audio example aswell.
