Matt gets the most attention of them all. This is for Matt and Matt to show that they are just as good as Matt. For musicians is Bass and Drums... And it's of the best kind. This is just as much Muse as it is without Matt. Matt would be nothing without them.
@Musefan6732 Isn't a fair amount of this improvisation anyway though? Just because he's not playing it exactly like whatever other version you've heard doesn't mean that he was "messing up"...
@shindude5 I do; its on the G string, 12-0-0-7-0-0-12 for two beats, then swap the seven for an 8, other two beats, then 9, and 10 which shares one beat of the two with 11.
@shindude5 I do, go to ultimate-guitardotcom and search for Helsinki jam choose the first tab (if you have guitar pro software then the other two) in the first tab that part is called "Section 3", enjoy your bass time. (I had to do this this way, it won't let me post a link, not even a "misspelled" one...
@japanessebabe aah thanks. Wait are u Swedish? aa anyway i'll speak english just in case ;P what did u think about the concert as a whole? I was disappointed :/ they didn't play bliss, and it was not as intense as i thought it should be, and i wasn't really friend yet with some of their new more slow songs as undisclosed desires. all in all - big disappointment! Maybe i'll see them this summer at zinkensdamm or wembley - but is it worth?
@japanessebabe yeah well when they play a muse song matt steals all the stage presence of chris and dom. and i don't remember seeing a drum or bass solo in muse's live career. so for once, its good to put the spotlights on them, imo.
@japanessebabe Matt get's the most attention of them all. This is for Matt and Dom to show that they are just as good as Matt. For musicians is Bass and Drums... And it's of the best kind. This is just as much Muse as it is without Matt. Matt would be nothing without them.
actually i'd have no objections for chris and dom playing something, just the two of them. i just wish it was something (a lot) musically more interesting than this jam stuff - which i don't think is really a very interesting piece of music. that's why i'd rather hear a "real" song, performed whether with or without matt.
@japanessebabe Du är svensk va? Om inte: I respect your opinion. :)
Men alltså.
@japanessebabe yeah i see what you mean but i think the jams are awesome, i don't think they're going to do anything more then that because it would make more sense to be done in the band as a whole.
@japanessebabe its just that if you dont like bass or drums... you will hate this jams... personally to me the bass and the drums are the best sounding instruments in a band so hear these 2 instruments jamming is awesome, also this jam was awesome... specially the drums, also I agree they can do better, but come on if they play like they can... matt will be like WTF they are soo good... (trust me)
@japanessebabe From what I can tell, Muse are huge fans of bass/drums noise rock duos (in particular Lightning Bolt, who they have covered on occasion) so if you're into that kind of thing too, you'd be enjoying this almost as much as Chris and Dom were (I know I did).
Saw them at Madison Square Garden and when they played this it blew my fucking mind. They need to record more stuff like this. They're a much better instrumental band than most people realize.
What?? I respect Chris more than people I actually know, he's the one that made me choose bass over guitar but there is absolutely no way Chris is better than Cliff. Chris is just a lot like how Cliff was with Metallica. They both take very melodic and up front approaches to their bass lines and they use a wide range of effects. These help Chris balance out Bellamy's flashiness.
This is a real fat Bassline :D

@GerardFrankMcr- It's called Helsinki Jam because it was first played in Helsinki, the first date of the Resistance tour .
Also, best Muse jam ever. Simply awesome.

Muse SHOULD put these hysteria-style-Basses in their songs more often.
I hope someday they put these brilliant Jam Riffs into their songs. (Maybe further bsides of The Resistance?) Would be awesome!
