I used to think I was the most anal person about my tuning until I watched Andy play live. Now I don't even play guitar anymore. I mean, with Andy out there, there's really no point in even trying anymore
@batman0466 That's exactly what Andy did when he listened to his heroes such as Don Ross and Michael Hedges. He stopped playing guitar.
All joking aside it might interest you to know that Andy played 7 hours a day back in his teens. You have the wrong attitude. You don't enjoy guitar if you don't like playing. These guys are mean't to inspire you like Andy's heroes inspired him to keep playing.
I met Andy in 2006. Pretty cool experience, but it is only in hindsight that I realize how amazing that was. I actually went mainly to see a local play, Trace Bundy. After I met Mckee, Dufour, and Turnbull (it was all 4 in one show), I looked them up on myspace and youtube and Mckee has become one of my favorite guitar players since. I didn't even know what I was looking at at the time.
wait did he just gain a lot of weight or lose it? cause in his other videos he's a pretty big guy but here he's a lot thinner. Brilliant dude either way.
yea serieusly xD. And I play the guitar. I want to go to a conservatore when im out of school just to study the guitar xD. so I hope his hand gives me the ultimate guitar power xD
its all triplets dude with a moving bass line and honestly not as hard to pull off as it sounds! get your index and middle finger alternating on the 1st string then use your thumb to get the bassline. a nice technique all the same!
if you buy the sheet music from his website, you'll find that the figure played over the bassline always has one note on the e string and one on the b, so you don't have to alternate. Middle on e, index on b
that isn't too difficult...he does a sort of tremolopicking..which means you pick the 1st string with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers, quickly. Instead, he uses the 2nd and the 3rd finger..
Its not exactly tremolo picking, but similar! Tremolo picking is succession of four notes(Commonly in groups of four(Semi-quavers or 16th notes));a bass note and then three of the same melody note. The pattern in this tune is triplets, A bass note(which he moves around and acts as the main melody) and then the 2 thinnest strings played in succession. Hope that clears that up :)
This reminds me of watching Sting performing Roxanne, live at the The Secret Policeman's Other Ball in 1982, I was 12 and even though my mom was sreaming at me to come eat dinner I stayed there, frozen, realizing what a "God given talent" really means.. to the core.
This song actually made me cry.. really amazing...
