Mr. Allen: In Brazil there are no Bamba. There are no monkeys in the streets .Brazil is a modern country. Please, get informed next time. This song is not welcome. No one is exempt from saying nonsense, the only misfortune is saying (or singing) it solemny.
Barry White sang a very beautiful song about the Marvelous City, Rio de Janeiro.
@medicoonline Oh come on...in the eternal musings of Bill Murray, LIGHTEN UP, MEDICOONLINE! It's a freakin' song...and sometimes songs are supposed to just be fun and escapist, NOT accurate.
So get whatever is stuck up your patootie out and just enjoy a happy song, OK?
I can't stop watching this video. I recently saw Hugh Jackman's one man show and he did a medley from "The Man from Oz" He did this song...I had an idea who Peter Allen was...but now that I am older I can truly appreciate his voice.....what a performance this is....love when he does the splits on the piano!!!!
the sloppiest, white, gay, dancer in history but what a great a song he left behind! 20 years from now another version will be made and we will still like it!! now we have Cold Play but i enjoyed "Ritmo de la noche"...
I think this was the 4th of July special they did when they re-opened the Statue of Liberty afte rthey renovated it. Liza also sang New York, New York that night.

Was this the 4th of July special when they re-opened the Statue of Liberty after it had been refurbished? Liza also sang New York, New York that night.

This clip brings back so many memories. I caught Peter on this show by accident. I was performing at a club in LA and was staying at a friend's house in Venice Beach.
On the 4th I turned on the TV and saw the intro by Oprah, and grabbed a VHS and shoved it into the VCR,.to happily capture the two songs Peter did. I still have the tape.

This is beyond amazing! Why can't we have more performers like him? In portuguese we have an expression that fits well here: "deu tudo de si"! hahaha
Spectacular, can't get tired of hearing this song. It puts me into a good mood instantly.
