@DeliciosoChino They have a protective fatty layer in their undercoat and when they get out of the water, they shake their bodies to get rid of the moisture. And that shake makes them almost instantly dry.

There are a lot of hot springs in NAGANO prefecture.(Nagano is known with winter Olympic held.) Jigokudani is one of those hot springs. People and even monkey enjoy hot springs. Hot springs make us relaxing. The power of earth sometime give us horrible disaster though,lives in this country also get blessed with it.

This place is JIGOKUDANI YAEN-KOEN..The snow monkeys is February or March.but In June, there are a lot of baby monkeys.

The monkeys are in the hot spring in the summer.

No, you can't pet them. The reason that you can get quite close to them is actually because they know people don't pet them. Petting can easily be understood as an act of dominance.

That would be a big mistake. All human-animals conflicts and problems happen because of people feeding wild animals resulting in animals associating people with food. This is what you see happening so often; monkeys stealing bags, looking for food. The only reason the snow monkeys don't do that, is because any form of interaction between humans and the monkeys is strictly forbidden.
