@SwagKicks your right but we there at pentax solve every bit of problem every model experiences during its Pre production stage and MP stage.. we "DO" the hard part during the sub assemblies, the Jap's only handle the finished Camera bodies..

@Sneakrabbit do not get the canon t3, you will get ripped off because the canon t1i has 15 mega pixle and better video capability...i have the d3100 and it's great the video quality is amazing and the pictures are so smooth and pure, and my sister got the t1i and that works very well too.So i'd get either the d3100 or the t1i

I'm pretty sure the sensor is not the same. It's the same amount of pixels, not the same sensor.

Even the new smc PENTAX DA L 35mm F2.4 AL was a big disappointment. Could have at the very least given it quick shift focus. The two big things that bring a buyer to a Pentax lens in the economy bracket instead of buying say a Sigma etc are quick shift focus & WR weather sealing.

I think Pentax need to work out some way to survey existing & potential new customers to see what they want in a new product before going into manufacture.

@MMAGimp Simple. Read what I wrote for starters. It doesn't need to be in the stores yet to clearly see it lacks quick shift focus. Look on the Pentax website for your self for specs. And read the Pentax forums to see many people feel the same way. As for Bitching. You are the only one bitching. I and others are expressing our disappointment in the hopes that user feedback will help with better future R&D. .-.-.

@vk4akp AFAIK the new DA 35mm might be the best performer in the history of photography yet people like you label it a disapointment before it even hit the stores because it doesn't have quick shift. guess what, all the FA series lenses don't have quick shift, are they crap too? acording to you they are because some fellas in the internet that never tried them said so.

No weather sealing and no stereo mic.

Not impressed by the flimsy battery holder needed to fit AA's.

Another year rolls by where I don't see a viable upgrade path from my K200D.

It's a shame too because I keep waiting to buy more Pentax gear but they never seem to get it right. :(

@xmeda No, I hate Li-Ion batteries. If I'm forced to go away from AA's then I might as well just go across to Nikon.

Lens. I only have two basic lens's. 18-55 WR and 50-200.

I am hoping Pentax will do a 55-300 in a WR with Quick shift focus.

Wouldn't by a K20. Horrible Li-Ion batteries again.

I will wait till next year. Sales will show them that they need more AA options.

AA's are one of the biggest buying points with their customers.

AA's and Pentax legacy lens compatibility.

@vk4akp That "horrible" K20D Li-Ion does more than 1400pics jpg+raw for me. K-r has AA option. K-7 and K-5 can use 6xAAs in grip.

DA55-300WR will be worthless and surely you wonť buy that because of price. + 300mm in rain is useless. DA55-300 has quick-shift. DA18-55WR is all I need for bad weather. On K20D it survived extra heavy rainstorm when taking pics of flashes. If you want longer - save for new 18-135WR or DA*60-250.

With nikon you'll end up with basic body, basic lens and no money.

@vk4akp btw.. K20D, sig17-70, DA12-24, DA18-55WR, DA55-300, FA*24/2, FA35/2, FA50/1.4, F28-80/3.5-4.5, M42 Industar 50/3.5, M42 Helios44M4 58/2, M42 Pentacon 135/2.8, flash etc.. I'll just add K5 and later 60-250/4 or sig100-300/4

No way to build the same with Nikon.. there are NO VR/IS lenses like 24/2, 35/2, 50/1.4. Their new 55-300WR costs twice like DA55-300. And + no option to use M42 lenses on nikon without killing them by reduction with optical element + again no VR/IS possible.

theres no big diference betwen K-r and K-x from what I saw.

K-r: AA bateries+Li-ion rechargeble-----K-x: AA bateries+NIMH rechargeble

K-r: 25 fps-----K-x: 24fps (I don't think anybody is going to see the diference)

K-r: more retro body-----K-x: more futuristic body.

Where's the weather sealing? :( And I don't like that you have to by a battery adapter / cartridge to use normal AA's. This should come with the camera standard.

The first thing I would do is throw away the horid LiIon battery. They should just use LiIon cells the same shape and size as AA's. These are readily available anyhow!. .-.-.

Pentax should really start making higher class DSLR's. The K r looks really good, but it's only K x with some added features from the K7. People with the K x would get annoyed with this because the K r will come out for the same price as they brought their K x for at the time, but the K r will have more features. The same thing happened with me when I brought the Pentax K100D.

@Jordie59 So the new guys will enjoy the price...make the K-x cheaper nad reduce the K-r price. Its a winner, I hope the sells dramatically rise. If this happens there is no dilemma any more between Nikon, Canon and Pentax - Its Just Pentax (But please please release more lenses Pentax!)
