I guess, if you set the difficulty level high enough. At the lower difficulty levels, they do attack you, but they aren't very aggressive or consistent with it. But on the most challenging difficulty levels (which, of course, are more satisfying once you're used to them), they are very aggressive, far more like realistic enemy pilots, and can be quite dangerous if you aren't careful, or don't be sure to guard often and check your own aggression. It's what separates a newbie pilot from an ace!
I found that attack very useful against large mobile armors such as the Psyco Gundam or the Big Zam. I've used it to destroy Big Zam's main gun on several occasions - usually screaming like a raging fury while I was at it.
That works, the c5 uppercut sends Destiny right into the air.
I found that when it comes to dealing with bosses, Destiny has two particularly effective weapons: the Flash-Edge II Boomerang and the M2000GX long-range beam cannon.
When attacking hordes, I tended to start off by firing two or three shots from the beam rifle, then charging in with the anti-ship sword and "herding" the enemy with the sword-spinning move (I called it the "cow catcher") before finishing them off with the cannon.
