The runner (Aaron Hill) Was on third base. The pitcher was about to throw a pitch and the runner ran and slid at home before they could tag him. Just like stealing second base but Home is particularly hard to steal.
Hill won the Silver Slugger this year, Pedroia couldn't hope to be as good of a hitter as Hill is. As for the fielding, Hill is phenomenal at second, but hasn't had the time to be recognized for it like Pedroia has, plus the awards commission is terribly bias, and Canadian based players showing up the American boys never makes them happy. :)
Granted, Hill is a far better POWER hitter, (keyword: power) but nowhere near as productive offensively overall. Pedroia's averages are consistently 15 or more points higher, he scores more runs, and he has a 30 point or better on base percentage as compared to Hill. Pedroia's fielding percentage is higher, as well as his average error number per season lower. All of this goes on top of his MVP, something which, until Hill does, I won't believe he is the better player.
The payroll card gets brought up every single year, and people only whine when the Yankees are winning. It's funny I've heard nothing about the Mets' payroll when they spend the second most in the majors. Could it be because they had an awful record this year ? I wonder.

The runner (Aaron Hill) Was on third base. The pitcher was about to throw a pitch and the runner ran and slid at home before they could tag him. Just like stealing second base but Home is particularly hard to steal.

Hill won the Silver Slugger this year, Pedroia couldn't hope to be as good of a hitter as Hill is. As for the fielding, Hill is phenomenal at second, but hasn't had the time to be recognized for it like Pedroia has, plus the awards commission is terribly bias, and Canadian based players showing up the American boys never makes them happy. :)

Granted, Hill is a far better POWER hitter, (keyword: power) but nowhere near as productive offensively overall. Pedroia's averages are consistently 15 or more points higher, he scores more runs, and he has a 30 point or better on base percentage as compared to Hill. Pedroia's fielding percentage is higher, as well as his average error number per season lower. All of this goes on top of his MVP, something which, until Hill does, I won't believe he is the better player.

The payroll card gets brought up every single year, and people only whine when the Yankees are winning. It's funny I've heard nothing about the Mets' payroll when they spend the second most in the majors. Could it be because they had an awful record this year ? I wonder.
It doesn't bother me at all though. I'd rather spend 400 million on great players than 126 million on a terrible one. Enjoy the World Series :)
