i agree with you! steroids also aid in recovery and aren't always used for mass and power . i wrote that comment out of ignorance thinking he wanted to gain strength yet i see no improvement in muscle fiber. he maybe used an enhancement for something other than power i made a stupid assumption.

Wasn't the best in his family? I dont buy that as being a legit excuse. The man is a 7th degree red/black belt in BJJ. There is no excuse for being defeated on the ground by simple wrestling moves.

This is the 2nd interview I've seen Royce getting pumped up about learning stand-up prior to his match against Hughes. Makes you wonder if he focused more on his stand-up and let his jiu-jitsu fall to the wayside. It was pretty heartbreaking watching Matt Hughes dominate Royce....at his own game!!

Well i give Royce all the credit but its true the UFC is more well rounded than when he started when he started it was all about showing the world the Gracie Jui Jitsu is the best which is true because if you know anything about the world of Jui Jitsu Gracie is the best and if you learn from them like many UFC Fighters do now a days and it shows if you are a great ground fighter it is because of the Gracies bringing Jui Jitsu to America like they did

in general ...Royce in his prime...would have had a decent chance to take on hughes..but unfortunately wut the gracies lack is striking ability...UFC now is well rounded...so i think gracie jujitsu isnt the best

Why are people so disrespectful? BJJ has changed the world of fighting, it something that should be cheered on and congratulated. leelandk69 Rickson fought some really strong guys, japanese and americans. He was truly great, no question about that. Yes Royce was beaten by a superior Matt Hughes but who wouldn't have been? Matt Hughes is one of the best fighters in the world.

Wow you don't know shit do you? Rickson Gracie has won over 400 matches in grappling and has yet to lose. (To my knowledge.) I doubt any of use here could take a gracie.

Whatever...I'm not a Gracie "nuthugger" but I think Royce is really trying. You don't see the pompous attitude of "BJJ only" here, you see him admitting the shortcommings of his family art, and his trying to remedy that by supplementing his ground game with Muay Thai. It's admirable. Do you even fight?
