I love the part in the movie where he walks in for the interview for the internship and he's wearing a tank top and he's all dirty and sweaty because he'd just ran there from jail for failure to pay parking tickets and he'd also just finished painting his house and he had paint spatters on his face, then the old guy says "what would you say if a man came in for an interview with no shirt on?" and he says "Well I'd say he must've had on some really nice pants." Then they all start laughing :)

See this why I dislike people who look down on prostitutes and strippers acting like their just pieces of meat to be used. They have souls, heart, and compassion. Hurray for the single mom prostitutes/regular prostitutes not because they couldn't be doing something better with their life, but for remaining human through all of the nastiness of the world.

They branch out to the social infrastructure, welfare and lack of government funding and programs to help those in need. There is a huge disparity between rich and poor and I am almost certain there are stories much worse than this that we will never hear of.

@CryptoDriver ok, i think his comment's point wasnt this.. the movie is INSPIRED by a true story, but many parts are only FICTION. mostly the ones which represents high human values. unfortunately the real Gardner's story was different from what we see in the movie.. i do appreciate the message which the movie makers want to tell us, but i wont exalt to the skies the real Chris Gardner,especially after reading about his real story which was deeply disappointing. Excellent movie though.

That is rude! . And if you're talking about the things that are wrong with the world, then what you've just said myfriend is exactly the problem- Its all about respect. You have to respect people for who they are and what they belive. And as for cultural and religious differences, well I believe that a world with no diversity, were everyone is the same is a boring and dead world stuck in one position. One that i wouldn't like to live in.

I like this guy, relate to his story alot, had been homeless at one time, I slept at bart stations also, it could be really cold sometimes, taking showers in public restrooms, but was commited to succed also, never stop believing in my self, study all the time, people did not realize I was homeless either, because I felt ashame, I understand the pusuit of happyness, Im very successful man now.

did i tell you to believe in it?, but look this is what i've realised myself back in 2006 i had a rough time, sleeping out the whole summer, later i found a job as newspapers carrier, tough and exploiting, later i left for something eelse now im doin well, next year 2011 it might be even bigger. so let me express my feelings.

I remember back to the Truman days. Homelessness was not a problem in this country until Reagan became president. Since then, the problem has persisted. Many of them are veterans. Occasionally, somebody can thrive.
