You shouldn't have a problem if it is only when you get sick, but if there are other times it acts up try something other than the military. If you are in some sort of operation and your throat starts closing up, you aren't going to be the one who dies your battle buddy is. Don't lie at MEPS unless it is for something stupid like smoking a joint in the 8th grade...

It doesn't really matter if your a POG or not. The whole ordeal of BCT is about being an infantry man. I know someone from CT who was a 42A, he was deployed to Afghanistan thinking he was going to be behind the desk but end up doing security detail / convoys for 11 months.

You made the wrong choice in this MOS because I heard my friend who was 19 out of highschool from my school got his leg blown off he was in infantry. his commander was shot my a sniper and his friend in is convoy was killed; DONT DO INFANTRY!!!
@IMFDB they let you know where you will be doing your training im going to fort benning georgia. After you get out they basically send you where ever they need you! My recruiter said that i get to put in 3 bases i would like to be stationed at but dont know if I would believe that

@TheBossMan635 do about 100 puch ups every night and 100 sit ups. then either in the morning or at night go do 50 yrd sprints with a back pack on with bout 30 lbs of weight. the army is changeing it physical training program. it used to be a 2 mile run but now they want more short sprints with body armor.
Probably rough if you are in the bad shape. But it get better with time as your body adjusted to the pressure. But you can easily get injure if you are not in shape!
@UnitedPebbles 100 push ups and sit ups should be easy to do for an average person. im not saying he has to do them all in one set. as long as you knock out all of them out. and if you cant run with weight tthen just run. got to get some kind of cardio. or if he wants a good workout program go do P90X or cross fit.
@TheBossMan635 ASVAB you will not have to score as high, but if you want to be able to get into certain schools, having a higher GT score will help you. Get a 110 (on the GT) and show your leadership you have the ability to perform, and they'll send you to any school you can apply for. Just run a lot, it helps in the Infantry, pushups situps, and get ready to hold a bunch of weight on your body. Good luck man, the Infantry is great, especially on deployments. You'll love it
@TheBossMan635 Its less about physical fitness and more about mental fortitude, but being very fit is also a requirement. An Infantryman should be mentally tough before being physically ready. The Drill Sergeant deals with the physical aspect, the mental aspect is simply to see how you handle pressure.
That includes PT as well. No matter how bad it hurts, keep running, even if you fall out. Make an obvious effort to push through the pain.
@ Alt your wrong I will get a job over you as being a 10 yr veteran in Infantry along with the Expert Infantry and Combat Infantry Badge Id rather a fellow grunt than a bookworm having my back in law enforcement.. Airborne Infantry lead the way.. Good luck on test I passed all my testing and got dropped from State Police acadamy list for a bullshit domestic charge for calling to try to see my boy, working on having it expunged to go into private contracting better pay and benefits.
@thehoomaikai infantry slots are not always open. I had to go to meps twice to get in the infantry. They told me the reason it was so hard for me to get an infantry spot was because there has been a tidalwave of people joining the army because of the down economy and every body wants to be in the infantry. One of my platoon serg from bct was airborne infantry and he was telling us about the time he did a 25k ruff march and a 8 mile run. It's no joke.

@beautiful9977, the Infantry always has openings. The Infantry and other Combat Arms MOSs are the best springboard for an Army career, so it gives you better opportunities for schools and promotions. If you don't like the Infantry, you are going to stuck in it for 3-4 years; however, you can re-enlist into just about any MOS you want or enlist into a different Branch.
@ atlbraves I plan on being a cop when/if I get out of infantry and I would much rather have people watching my back that have been in combat than some "book smart" cherry that's has barely held a weapon or been in any combative situation! Hooah
People say that you can use your infantry skills to be a cop when you get out... you can be a cop with a G.E.D. and not have a serious criminal record. I don't care if you were infantry cause if I score better than you on the tests you are not getting priority over me.
@atlbraves1983 There is a Vet bonus when it comes to those tests, so yes the Infantry guy can beat you out with a lower score. But Infantry guys are not dumb-good luck on your exam.

@AmericanGMS 11X is an elistment option where upon completing Basic Combat Training of OSUT, you will become either an 11B (line dog) OR 11C (mortar). There used to be 11H (TOW) and 11M (Bradley Crewman) When I first went in the Army, I was a 11B10P (Airborne). When I left the Army, I was a 11H20E (M-901).
@AmericanGMS 11B is just a regular infantryman. 11C is mortar. 11X has a chance of going to basic and becoming 11B or 11C depending on what company you go to. Yes the army is that randomized.

@631Whatsgood I am physched as well. I get to reception on the 21 and start Basic in the beginning of March. Im sure they will offer you Airborne when you get there. I cant wait, I have been trying to get an earlier ship date, Id like to leave next month. Well maybe I will see you down there, I will probably be the oldest guy in my group.. lol.

You made the wrong choice in this MOS because I heard my friend who was 19 out of highschool from my school got his leg blown off he was in infantry. his commander was shot my a sniper and his friend in is convoy was killed; DONT DO INFANTRY!!!

@IMFDB they let you know where you will be doing your training im going to fort benning georgia. After you get out they basically send you where ever they need you! My recruiter said that i get to put in 3 bases i would like to be stationed at but dont know if I would believe that

@TheBossMan635 do about 100 puch ups every night and 100 sit ups. then either in the morning or at night go do 50 yrd sprints with a back pack on with bout 30 lbs of weight. the army is changeing it physical training program. it used to be a 2 mile run but now they want more short sprints with body armor.

Probably rough if you are in the bad shape. But it get better with time as your body adjusted to the pressure. But you can easily get injure if you are not in shape!

@UnitedPebbles 100 push ups and sit ups should be easy to do for an average person. im not saying he has to do them all in one set. as long as you knock out all of them out. and if you cant run with weight tthen just run. got to get some kind of cardio. or if he wants a good workout program go do P90X or cross fit.

@TheBossMan635 ASVAB you will not have to score as high, but if you want to be able to get into certain schools, having a higher GT score will help you. Get a 110 (on the GT) and show your leadership you have the ability to perform, and they'll send you to any school you can apply for. Just run a lot, it helps in the Infantry, pushups situps, and get ready to hold a bunch of weight on your body. Good luck man, the Infantry is great, especially on deployments. You'll love it

@TheBossMan635 Its less about physical fitness and more about mental fortitude, but being very fit is also a requirement. An Infantryman should be mentally tough before being physically ready. The Drill Sergeant deals with the physical aspect, the mental aspect is simply to see how you handle pressure.
That includes PT as well. No matter how bad it hurts, keep running, even if you fall out. Make an obvious effort to push through the pain.

@ Alt your wrong I will get a job over you as being a 10 yr veteran in Infantry along with the Expert Infantry and Combat Infantry Badge Id rather a fellow grunt than a bookworm having my back in law enforcement.. Airborne Infantry lead the way.. Good luck on test I passed all my testing and got dropped from State Police acadamy list for a bullshit domestic charge for calling to try to see my boy, working on having it expunged to go into private contracting better pay and benefits.

@thehoomaikai infantry slots are not always open. I had to go to meps twice to get in the infantry. They told me the reason it was so hard for me to get an infantry spot was because there has been a tidalwave of people joining the army because of the down economy and every body wants to be in the infantry. @SuperRockyridge most likely they are,you just came at the time that it was hard to get into,but yea your bct and AIT is in Benninng.Be prepared for ruff marches. One of my platoon serg from bct was airborne infantry and he was telling us about the time he did a 25k ruff march and a 8 mile run. It's no joke.

@beautiful9977, the Infantry always has openings. The Infantry and other Combat Arms MOSs are the best springboard for an Army career, so it gives you better opportunities for schools and promotions. If you don't like the Infantry, you are going to stuck in it for 3-4 years; however, you can re-enlist into just about any MOS you want or enlist into a different Branch.

People say that you can use your infantry skills to be a cop when you get out... you can be a cop with a G.E.D. and not have a serious criminal record. I don't care if you were infantry cause if I score better than you on the tests you are not getting priority over me.

@atlbraves1983 There is a Vet bonus when it comes to those tests, so yes the Infantry guy can beat you out with a lower score. But Infantry guys are not dumb-good luck on your exam.

@ I was an 11B(22+ years ago). I After my time, I attended and graduated from college w/ an engineering degree. I worked in the mining industry. Now I sell life insurance and related financial services. The point is: we may change directions in our careers. The Army provided me an opportunity to grow up.

I think it's true when I say that this MOS is one of those MOS's that won't help you get a job in the real world. The most you can probably do is be a cop, or patrol or something like that.

@AmericanGMS 11X is an elistment option where upon completing Basic Combat Training of OSUT, you will become either an 11B (line dog) OR 11C (mortar). There used to be 11H (TOW) and 11M (Bradley Crewman) When I first went in the Army, I was a 11B10P (Airborne). When I left the Army, I was a 11H20E (M-901).

@AmericanGMS 11B is just a regular infantryman. 11C is mortar. 11X has a chance of going to basic and becoming 11B or 11C depending on what company you go to. Yes the army is that randomized.

All armed services have been //horribly// corporatized, which is to say disorganized, uncohesioned and to an extent greater than many would be willing to admit, DEMORALIZED.

United States is a foreign criminal corporation that is exploiting the lower middle class and the poor, in a conscription (draft) system born out of economic hardship. Infantry is the LAST thing you ought to want. They undertrain, under pay, and will try to kill you when //they// are done to avoid paying any sort of benefits.

getting out of the MP core after this deployment and goin to 11bang. I like the infantry side that MPs SOMETIMES get to do on certain cordon deployments, but. I fuckin hate garrison. I just hope i dont wind up with an infantry unit that is supporting detainee ops like the Brave rifles
