They had to have as many bodies on the roof as possible laying down a high volume of fire to repel the attack before reinforcements got there. They aim using line of sight and thier systems don't even have baseplates most of the time. Inaccurate as hell.
The seals never did anythig really, they are just good for propagand reasons, and delta force, well i still remeber their magnificient operation in iran.

So now that introductions are made, care to explain me, if those forces are so well trained why arent they respecting the most basic rules of warefare, that is why dont they respect distances between men, and go all together, very close to each other to a rooftop and become really vulnerable from indirect fire?
I think dispersion is the word you are looking for. Any infantry officer should know that you take care of the direct fire threat first and close with and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver or fire and close combat. You may then worry about indirect fire by setting up sandbag emplacements, bunkers etc...but for Gods sakes this is a firefight! Who cares about Iraqi mortars! I've been through hundreds (not exaggeration)of mortar attacks on static targets and they can't hit anything.
No i never fought in a war, thank god, and yes i know that mortar fire is very inaccurate, but what i mean with a "well aimed shot" means getting the shell in a 20 meter radius...that is in the rooftop. Yes i understand they are fighting a poor armed and trained people with little coordination, and they are taking advantage of their better gear in terms of accuracy to get them.
I'm not talking about mortar fire in general, just insurgent mortar fire. They have one guy hold the tube in the direction and angle they think might work, then the other guy drops the round in. They spray and pray to allah that the round hits their target, which rarely happens using those aiming techniques. Mortars are not a big threat in combat here. Rockets and mortars are typically fired just to terrorize people on bases. We simply go to a bunker and wait til they land, then back to work.

So now that introductions are made, care to explain me, if those forces are so well trained why arent they respecting the most basic rules of warefare, that is why dont they respect distances between men, and go all together, very close to each other to a rooftop and become really vulnerable from indirect fire?

I think dispersion is the word you are looking for. Any infantry officer should know that you take care of the direct fire threat first and close with and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver or fire and close combat. You may then worry about indirect fire by setting up sandbag emplacements, bunkers etc...but for Gods sakes this is a firefight! Who cares about Iraqi mortars! I've been through hundreds (not exaggeration)of mortar attacks on static targets and they can't hit anything.

No i never fought in a war, thank god, and yes i know that mortar fire is very inaccurate, but what i mean with a "well aimed shot" means getting the shell in a 20 meter radius...that is in the rooftop. Yes i understand they are fighting a poor armed and trained people with little coordination, and they are taking advantage of their better gear in terms of accuracy to get them.

I'm not talking about mortar fire in general, just insurgent mortar fire. They have one guy hold the tube in the direction and angle they think might work, then the other guy drops the round in. They spray and pray to allah that the round hits their target, which rarely happens using those aiming techniques. Mortars are not a big threat in combat here. Rockets and mortars are typically fired just to terrorize people on bases. We simply go to a bunker and wait til they land, then back to work.
