Ok I am going to have to say Avatar didn't deserve to win best picture or best director. The only reason why it got good reviews was because the special effects overshadowed it's dull storyline. I honestly don't understand why it was nominated in the first place.

Avatar was entertaining. Great CGI and interesting backgrounds, aliens, setting, and character design. But the story of the movie was essentially Pochahontas meets the smurfs. Im glad The Hurt Locker won. It had a way better story

Avatar was Pochahontas in space that's why Hurt Locker won. Although Avatar was far more epic, Hurt Locker was much more real and believable.

the hurt locker had a far more sophisticated stylization and the script blew the clunky cliches of Avatar out of the water. The Hurt Locker may not have been completely accurate but it was FAR more accurate than any other middle eastern conflict film to date. it only had holes picked in it because it did it so well. Avatar was good but Avatar lovers are generally people who like passive spoon fed entertainment. Avatar provides no challenge and is therefore an inferior cinematic achievement.

Thank you. I totally agree. For starters, hollywood has never been totally accurate, but this is probably one of the most accurate war films in recent years. People are only criticizing it now, because they're mad that it won. And besides even despite some innacuracies, The Hurt locker was filled with suspense, brilliant acting, an intense climax, and some truly emotional scenes. Avatar lacked this.

very simple, The Hurt Locker is a yankee movie where Americans are the heroes WOW!! that novelty, 9th district very well and this time it's a pain, Inglorious Basterds is fine but it's a genre often seen, however Avatar, is something quite different, shows the true face of man with the power of money (as in Iraq) and note, the bad guys are Americans, we should not give that face the American military, are better off as heroes to the Iraqis.

You can not compare 2012 with AVATAR, is a completely different movie, I agree that 2012 has very good special effects, but Avatar is very different, as it did in Cameron real time, saw the characters on the monitor as they are in while filming the movie, is a technology far more advanced than 2012, which certainly pleased me much, but I've already seen avatar 3 times in the cinema, and I hope to return to her again.

AVATAR DID NOT DESERVE TO WIN!! All Avatar deserved was best visuals/art (which it won). The acting was terrible (in fact, there was very little acting, just voices), the story line was Dances with Wolves meets Fern Gully. It did not deserve to win. Plain and simple. The best movie true won. Even James Cameron knew that. When you only use technology (blue screens etc.) and don't concentrate on acting, you will not win the Oscar.

I would personally have voted for Avatar for Best Picture, but I like your version of the results just as much. I loved Inglorious, but the Hurt Locker? Of ten movies, 5 or so being superb or game-changing, they had to pick that one? I saw it, and to the average viewer, it is flat, emotionless, and nothing special.

Its hard to say who is the best actress/actor/s because all perform well according to subject of film,directors,screenwriters,f­ilming,make-up etc,etc but at the end it`s the "taste" of the academy that determines who wins and since most of the american film industry is jewish, i doubt that any movie making a nazi story will be praised (i understand their regret)reguardless of the excellent dialoge, but what is more politically better for the majority of the public.

I thought Avatar was a great movie. However, you can't deny the recycled plot and shallow script. The Hurt Locker is a very deep movie with an unpredictable plot, which is why I think it deserved the Best Picture win.

Avatar will be remembered as a revolution in 3D film, but hurt locker will be remembered for its great acting and unpredictable plot. Both deserve recognition but in the end the hurt locker mixed a great plot with some still pretty cool effects. Avatar was all about the visuals and thats why it did not win. Plus, generally sci- fi nominations don't win (ie star wars, ET) No offence, but I thought Avatars acting was a too Disney like, and not matched well with the plot.

i know there is deep meaning, but how many people really talk about or even pay attention to that. Movies are for entertainment, and the stunning 3D effects is what made this Avatar revolutionary. There are tons of movies with deep meanings but they don't have the visual effects. Im not saying Avatar is bad, in fact it was one of the best movies I had scene until i watched The Hurt Locker. The acting in HL was perfect and the ending was not predictable, unlike Avatar which was just hero/ villan
